In celebration of the 45th anniversary of Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi/horror masterpiece “Alien,” the film will return to theaters for a limited time on April 26, known worldwide as Alien Day. Tickets are now available for purchase at Fandango or wherever tickets are sold. Be sure to check out the unique homage poster, TV spot, and preview of an exclusive conversation between Ridley Scott and Fede Alvarez, the director/writer of the upcoming theatrical release “Alien: Romulus,” which will appear on prints of “Alien” in theaters April 26.
One of the most influential sci-fi/horror films of all time, “Alien,” which was released in June 1979 and won an Oscar® for best visual effects, stars Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm, and Yaphet Kotto. It is the terrifying tale of a crew aboard a commercial spacecraft that lands on an alien planet to investigate a mysterious transmission of unknown origin and encounters the deadliest lifeform in the universe. “Alien” is directed by Ridley Scot, with a screenplay by Dan O’Bannon and a story by Ronald Shusett, and the producers are Gordon Carroll, David Giler, and Walter Hill.

Alien is easily one of the greatest films ever made. From the opening scene to the final credits, it is near perfect in every way.

Definitely!!!!!! Been affected since 1979 when I watched on HBO. This is when the first set top box was analog. When HBO was really at its prime with all kinds of"SPECIAL FEATURE PRESENTATION" such as Alien, Not Necessarily the News, and other specials. Do I have a witness out there that can attest to this?
I admire its purity.
The only moment that takes me out of the movie is the switch from Prosthetic Ian Holm to real Ian Holm.
@MechadonPrime the baby alien looked stiff and not organic. Also, when it ran away it looked pretty bad as well.
I was born in 1992 and I've only watched this movie on VHS as a kid, but I'm definitely gonna go see Alien in the theater when this comes out.

I just saw it for second time this week about an hour ago. It is INCREDIBLE in theatres right now. Make sure you go to a Cinemark with XD theatres. It is just unbelievably good. The movie in its original film in 4K holds up remarkably well. It felt like I was watching a movie from 2024 instead of 1979 at times.. I saw it by myself first then was so blown away I took my dad to watch it because he is a huge fan of the original alien and he saw it in theatres in 1979. He was blown away tonight as well. Go see it while you can!!!
@@Brandon-xu1yxI think people need to go see it at a good movie theater while it’s out now. It won’t be forever and why not go see it in theatres now while we have the chance. It’s like 1979 again.
Love how this paid homage to the original trailer. I can only imagine how iconic it must have been back then. And it didn’t spoil the plot, Ripley wasn’t made obvious as the main character in the first half and I love it.
I saw the second screening on the first day it came out in my city and knew nothing beyond the poster and an article I'd read that had talked about H R Giger. It was amazing.
I do hope they remake this and this time make Ripley a black transgendered woman. And maybe add more LGBTQ amongst the rest of the crew. And this time how about not killing off the black guy right away?
@@trhansen3244 Ripley was a woman, Lambert was trans, Parker was black, and Ash was a goddamned robot, so I'd say it was pretty inclusive already.

The trailer kind of gives it away though, knowing Ripley is a famous movie character even for those who haven't dug in the Alien franchise.
This film scared the crap out of me at 15 years old when I saw alien for the first time. It still freaks me out to this day at 24 years old
Haha all good I'm 27 and I went back and watched it again on my blue ray I got the six film set and I was ok jump scare three two and one alien pops up at Ripley still got me lol I was like crap! How did I still get scared when I saw it a billion of times

That's how I originally saw it, in the theater back when it first opened. I was just a little kid and man did this film make an impression on me.

No matter what, I'd say AlienS is the greatest sci-fi film I've ever seen
As a teenager, when Aliens first came out it was the greatest Sci-fi movie I had ever seen. Now that I'm much older I see Alien to be the greatest.

Believe it or not, Cameron puts a lot more work into making us care about his characters than Ridley Scott ever puts in his movies

Next month will be 45 years and it's STILL the best of all 4 films.
This film was just amazing for 1979. You had Star Wars in 1977 and you thought it couldn't get better than that. When I saw this movie, in the cinema in 1979, it disturbed me for weeks. No other film did that to me, not even The Exorcist, at the time.
Alien is a masterpiece. Alien: Romulus Is a franchise.

I saw Alien and Aliens as a double header on the big screen during Covid. What an experience.
Alien is the first movie I watched on home video Betamax when my uncle splurged and bought his first VCR. I will never forget the experience watching this movie for the first time. Big screen here I come, ticket booked. It will most likely be a digital showing, but I would wish it has a film showing as well.

My parents showed me this movie when I was 10. (I’m 14 now at the time I’m leaving this comment) absolute banger of a movie. Even myself at 10 years old agreed. This was my first horror movie (my first real, actually scary horror movie. I had technically seen Goosebumps and stuff by then, but this was my first REAL, actually scary movie). I have no idea why my parents got the idea to show me Alien at the age of 10, but god am I glad they did.
Geez I have only seen this movie, for how many times, I lost count...only on my TV set. And I always imagined what it must have been like on cinema....I hope this is an international release

My idea for an Alien5 movie is as follows:
It takes place after alien4 and takes places on an earth in ruins.
TheRipleyClone has transformed into an entity that is producing eggs,and a lot of humans are affected,and
a war breaks out.They have to use a nuke on the swarms of xenomorphs and decidedes to travel
to the planet where they think the xenomorphs orginate from.There they find there are multiple
forms of xenomorphs.They manages to form a clone of a xenomorph that is able to communicate with the the help of a microship surgerized into its brain.
After this a peace is established.
But as allways Weyland-Yutani has spies that want the xenomorph for their biological weapon program.
And it is a surprice who the spy is. And that Weyland-Yutami has a lab on a spacestation not far from the xenomorph
planet. Where they finds forms of xenomorphs that noone has seen before.
And that's makes a cliffhanger for a possible Alien6 movie ?

Why don’t you guys just freeze him ?!
Hollywood will just recycle movies like Ghostbusters, Top Gun, Star Wars, Terminator, Predator and now Alien(s) with reboots, remakes, sequels and prequels or just show the original movies themselves. And no Disney, I don't want to see another Marvel superhero movie. The creativity of new movies for the most part is gone. The 80's and 90's had a bunch of goofy movies with original ideas which didn't necessarily have much point or plot to them, but they were FUN and they made alot of people laugh. Superhero movies aren't offensive because they are fictitious characters and kids love them. If I had to guess that’s probably why Disney keeps churning those movies out.

I'm not paying to sit in a theatre full of gabbing, phone idiots when I can stay at home and have a 4 course meal and a pint and watch it on VHS, laserdisc, dvd, blu ray or 4K.
It’s true. I saw Terminator 2 at the cinema and people just kept constantly getting up and getting stuff - more than a normal movie.
Maybe because they’d ready seen it loads of times, they just treated it differently?
So I would avoid Alien for sure.
