I actually really liked Strange’s arc in this movie. His fixing of the watch at the end of the movie was a neat touch for me. He still had a lot of baggage between Christine and Endgame but now he’s not scared anymore - he understands he did far better than most Stranges because he is different, and now he’s ready to live life for the present.

I loved the character arc, but they could have show more universes and gone further and I wish they had just done nore with the premise. @@akongsupern00b1 I feel as if his arc would've been better if they actually took the time to establish Strange's dissatisfaction with life. I like them calling to attention Strange's problems with trust and inability to move forward but the movie is just so clumsy in portraying it. It's all tell, no show. It's the same thing with the multiverse versions of Strange in other universes. We are told the evils that they've commited but are never shown them. It's a problem with the movie as a whole. It wastes time on action scenes that would've been better spent building up the characters and making their motivations feel more tangible and believable. This movie is just shallow noise as it is, burying an interesting story under piles upon piles of pointless, contrived, mindless "fun".

I take Wanda not changing back to being a “good guy” after the darkhold being destroyed because she held on it since the end of WandaVision. Doctor Strange only had it for a lil while and he already had the eye thing that the darkhold Doctor strange had. @@AGuyWithTheFace I agree honestly it feels like that's where they were going. Professor X says Wanda has lost control to scarlet witch. This could have been played as Cthon using her grief to cause her to search for a way to move through the multiverse. It also explains a better reason for killing and stealing powers from a child. Her current reason was my kids might get sick. Makes more sense if a comsic being is trying to use his millenia old ace up his sleeve to free himself from his prison.
I bet the only reason they didn't do it here was because they used the same motivation for the Mandarin in Shang Chi. Wasting it there when it would have fit better here.

There’s a lotta valid criticism here and I respect it but you can’t say dr strange arc was the same. His arc in the first is it’s not all about you, in turn he learns to be a hero. In this movie it’s not being in control and having to be okay with reality, which is reflected in Wanda by her having to save her kids.
In Wanda vision we watch the post breakdown of Wanda and what that looks like, and by the end she deals with visions death. In that show visions was terrified of her actions so it makes sense that a corrupted Wanda would try to find a way to have her kids but not vision. This also is just her retreading her grief but this time with the loss of her kids, not vision.
The whole movies is about situations we’re not in control of down to americas powers. She and that are the main drive and by the end strange has to give up control to her so that everyone besides him can be safe, since he’s allready allowed himself to be corrupted. It’s not the greatest story telling but it’s very character driven and leaps off of the first dr strange movie more so than a lotta recent marvel sequels.

But in Infinity War Dr Strange getting to relinquish the Time stone to Thanos is him having to accept that he can't always be in control especially when he knew that he was gonna die in that movie. He had to literally trust every other hero that remained to do their parts to a fine T or else it would all fall apart. Thats him giving away control, It just wasn't on the nose in the Infinity war movie because of all the things that were happening in that movie.

Meaning even the slightest change in behavior or actions could seriously alter the corse of the entire fight. And mind you there was 5 years in between AIW and Endgame, 5 years were anything could have happened to negate all his plans and he wouldn't been there to stear it right or fix it so he had to relinquish alot of control and have faith that nothing happens to shift the timeline to one were everything goes wrong.
The Quantum Van could have been taken to a scrap yard to be crushed instead of being taken toa storage facility.
Iron Man could have died in space if Captain Marvel got there 5 minutes later.
A myriad of things could have happened to mess it up and Im sure Dr Strange had to take all of that into consideration too before he made that decision. If he didn't want to relinquish control he could have been like Spiderman and said i can do this myself I know magic surely there is another way i didn't see because looking at probability, obviously he didn't go through every single possible event, but he went through enough to make a choice to either or relinquish power.🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I don't think Wandas growth was undone. Wanda has complex and long lasting trauma. Losing her kids during her last crisis was bound to impact her mental health and she turned to poor coping mechanisms which people with complex trauma often do. Being in that mental state whilst also corrupted by the dark hold would definitely explain her arc in this film. I think it's good to show how long lasting trauma is and how recovery is complex and never guaranteed.

I'm not necessarily convinced that John Krasinski is 100% confirmed as a permanent Reed Richards. When they get around to finally doing X-Men in the MCU it's pretty much guaranteed that Patrick Stewart won't be playing him. That's the logic I'm going with that we might still end up with a different actor in the Fantastic Four MCU film. I also think that it wasn't a great way to introduce Reed into the MCU for the first time - a multiversal variant that they end up killing off pretty quickly.

Obviously we will get our own Reed, our own Xavier and so forth, so of course they don’t want these versions to leak out of their world, they were really only there to set up the possibility of these characters existing on 616 in the future.

Incorrect, Wanda has been directly influenced by the Darkhold and Chthon only once in Avengers Witch of Wundagore Mountain arc in the 70s, and now again recently in the Darkhold comic but that was just written for synergy with the movie so it doesn’t count. Wanda was never truly a villain in the comics, she was mentally unstable over the losses in her life and she would never try to murder a child over it.

People say that Wanda's been a villain a ton of times, but outside of her beginnings as a reluctant member of the Brotherhood, and the handful of times Chthon took her over, I literally cannot think of anything besides Disassembled, and that was less of a conscious choice and more of a mental breakdown.

Though, it is worth pointing out that Captain Carter in What If was last seen in 2014, doing her version of The Winter Soldier, where the MCU is in 2026. I think it’s pretty clear as to why Dr. Strange is not the sorcerer supreme. He may be powerful but he doesn’t even know books in this movie are real. If gaining the title of sorcerer supreme doesn’t give you a power up, it needs to go to the strongest and most knowledgeable. Dr. Strange showed how much he was lacking in the knowledgeable department this movie. Yet wong is in many movies helping and has lots of knowledge to help in this movie. And he’s capable.

    • @theconsciousobserver6829

No this is a white supremacist strategy to push the title on other races but to maintain the true power for yourself. Just like Chris Evans making Falcon Captain America, he didn't deserve it, but it's all about symbolism being more substantial than substance. It's a white supremacist move used to flatter your enemy into servitude. It's fake humility. So Wong is only Sorcerer Supreme nominally, but we all know who the real SS is. Another example before you come with your disbelief bs, Barack Obama and Kamala Harris. No power, just symbolism.

Those two actors did the best they could with the material and it's awesome they brother back the black bolt actor and I hope they use both actors again for the parts. Just utter insanity. 80% of the movie wasn’t reshot. The entire plot leaked in October and then again in November. Now the reshoots were extensive at 6 days a week. However, fun fact, the plot leaks prior to the reshoots all matched up other than replacing a certain Illuminati member which didn’t sound real anyways with Bruce Campbell playing one of them where he was Thor’s brother. Read that Hollywood Reporter article again by the way. There are differing opinions from people involved which of course Cosmic Book News wouldn’t mention. “One insider says about two weeks are dedicated to principal photography that wasn’t completed during the initial, U.K.-based shoot due to what is described as actor availability issues. The insider also dismissed concerns that the reshoots were related to retooling the story.”

    • @DanV900
      @DanV900 2 года назад +3

@Spin Once again, that’s weird to do that and pretty sad. I would hope you have friends to discuss movies with where if you don’t, that sucks. There’s movie groups online that are out there. You realize Stuckmann did that because he is making a movie himself, right? He used to be very critical of a movie or show that he did not like, but now doesn’t do that because he is now a contemporary of other filmmakers. That’s not a great example honestly. Go down the rabbit hole of his Hilariocities which are great and watch his most hated movie ever one which is the atrocious Dragonball Evolution. He destroyed merchandise in the Hilariocity he did for that movie and burned it.
I would agree that the criticism wasn’t good especially with Dylan’s rant about the LGBT+ representation. Sal saying two thumbs down and acting like the movie was terrible was certainly overblown. They were oddly very emotional. I do think part of it is Tiffany as a super fan of Doctor Strange who clearly didn’t like it from her tweet where that does influence him. They both loved Eternals even though from a filmmaking and plot standpoint, Eternals is much worse. Shang-Chi’s third act isn’t good where Katy hits the one impressive shot with her arrow which they accepted, but yet they criticized America with using her power to end this movie. There is inconsistency there for sure.

    • @DanV900
      @DanV900 2 года назад

@Spin Oh, I see what you are talking about now. Yeah, that’s rude to just rant about a movie out of nowhere if the person isn’t interested in listening to it. It’s different if they were genuinely interested in your thoughts on the movie. Stuckmann would be critical of movies still even with one’s coming out that he didn’t like where he had his Rise of Skywalker review of course and did his Rogue One analysis later with criticizing the opening. There is The Haunting of Sharon Tate which he called atrocious and gave an F. He didn’t have an issue giving those grades to movies as they were coming out until he became a filmmaker. Jeremy Jahns isn’t the most analytical when it comes to his reviews, but he still criticizes movies he doesn’t like. I really enjoy Red Letter Media’s reviews. If it’s not mean spirited, I’m fine with it. None of them are.
America having a pin is fine and she isn’t going to find a love interest while on the run and say she is gay while on the run. That would come out of nowhere and have no relevance with what is going on in the story. Cue the “How is this helping?” line from No Way Home. Saying Doctor Strange had the same arc as the first movie and Wanda had the same arc as WandaVision is categorically wrong. Wanda was corrupted by the Darkhold which she was using for around a year. WandaVision was 3 weeks after Endgame and Far From Home was set 8 months after Endgame. Then No Way Home was set after Halloween where it was at least November so that’s another 3 months easily. Like just do the math and it being destroyed doesn’t mean she would suddenly revert back. “We have removed the drugs from the drag addict and the drug addict is now not going to do drugs anymore.” Yeah, that’s not how that works.

To clarify something Benny said near the end. I too wanted Magik in this, since they've been giving Wanda some of her stuff and setting up how her powers work for some time now in the MCU. But, Illyana does not open portals with her sword. Her sword can open portals, but that is only really useful to other people who wield her soul sword. Magik's base mutant ability is the creation of stepping discs, which are portals plus a little extra. Not really saying Benny should know this, since there is at least one X-Men run in the last decade where the writer/artist/editor did not get how her powers work at all. Its not like she's been consistently on an X-Men team since Schism until the Hickman Krakoa arc started. Even Bendis knew how she worked and knew enough to push her story forward in an interesting way during his otherwise mediocre X-Men run.
Sorry, been holding that rant in for a few years and it seemed it needed to come out. Suffice to say I want Illyana in these movies and there were 2 huge missed opportunities, both America and Clea could be replaced by her with a few tweaks to the story, but the MCU seems to hardcore not be willing to start introducing their own mutants. I don't get what they're waiting on.

I'm being nitpicky about this video lol and am just commenting on things I disagree with that they say in this video. but it kind of feels like a lot of things in this movie just flew over their head (Dr.Strange arc)/ they don't really understand how people work (Wandas Trauma) or are just being a little too pessimistic with some bad takes (in my opinion) about the film. Wanda has insane amount of trauma, plus darkhold corrupted her, also at the end of Wandavision she wasn't just magically fixed and over everything, she was def a little more over visions death but now has the pain of having, raising and the losing her children. which the book probably took advantage of. People are flawed and slip up and have to relearn things sometimes. Also, whether liked or not there was defiantly some "destiny" stuff with Wanda going on as well, and by the time the darkhold was destroyed she was clearly to far gone and dead set on her mission for that to matter, she wanted her kids back and was willing to do anything to get them. ( none of them being parents I guess its easy for them to miss/not understand that). Also she doesn't ask Wong where the other darkhold is and there just happens to be one she asks him to tell her the spells because being the sorcerer supreme she assumes he knows all the spells, but agreed the fact that the book just happen to be the copy and the original was in some unknown mountain top was bad, It would have been better if she just tortured/ mind raped Wong into getting the information with everything happening on the mountain later in the film just happening at Kamar-taj, with few tweaks. Wong has been there longer and has more respect from all the other sorcerers and of course strange being gone for 5 years so of course he is in charge, we also see in the movie that in every other universe where Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme things don't go well. Yes there is a London and China branch that was in the first movie how is that a surprise? The complaint about not delving into Americas sexuality was just a really stupid and kind of childish rant to begin with, She isn't the main character she is a plot device in this film and No one went to see this movie to see a 16 year old girls sexual identity to begin with, there is no need to express it in this film because it doesn't matter within the contexts of the movie anyways because she is being hunted like an animal for her powers. Also I guess Eternals doesn't exist because Openly Gay character in that film. other people have stated Stranges arc in the comments but again seems to go over their heads/ they don't really get his arc because it really isn't the exact same arc he had in the first film, like they keep stating it is. This is long enough so im gonna stop here but they are really way to picky about this film.

Over hyped. It felt like the movie was more about Wanda. It felt rushed to me. The overall plot was ok. I felt the trailers gave away the whole movie.

Idk if they'll do this but during a Young Avengers run (the version with Loki and America), they fought evil versions of their mothers, so maybe America's mothers will turn up there.

Complains that America doesn't address her love life but also has a problem with Strange addressing his lovelife? I enjoyed the movie certainly liked it more than the first Dr. Strange.

tbh having a character be lgbtq doesn't really change anything nor adds to a characters personality other than sexual preference which would make it unneeded. I would rather worry about how to stop an insane villain with immense magical power rather than a person dating the same gender.

I actually really like this movie, cuz I don't like Dr Strange but love Sam Rami movies so I was kinda happy it seemed like marvel let the reigns lose more than they usually do. My main issue with the film was it was the oppitame of a elseworld story. Unnecessary gruesome deaths of beloved characters, crazy cool concepts that look good but don't go anywhere, and a story that Ultima doesn't really matter to the larger narrative. Solid 7 outta 10 tho

I like Steven's character arc and what they did with Wanda, but I was still kinda disappointed.
They had the chance to go balls to the walls full-on trippy Jack Kirby with their universes, but it was blink and its over and I'm just so disappointed because I'm the comics there was some really awsome weird and off the wall shit going on and it should be reflected on the movies. For me the movie was a 3.5 out of 5

When Wanda broke into the Baxter building, it felt like Reed and Xavier died too fast; black bolt's death made sense and there wasn't anything they could do without magic. However, Reed can control his body to the cell it'd been cool if she grabs him and he just barely escapes by becoming liquid-like, so her attack is harder to finish or not as effective on him. His death also hurt the movie because she just could've done that to Captain Carter anytime, she's just Captain America with a jetpack she still has to get close to Wanda like Reed in order to attack. For Xavier, he should've been a bigger challenge to Wanda since he is the strongest telepath and telepathy is just a secondary power for Wanda. At the very least, it should be a stalemate being its her first mental battle and she wins because she uses magic to split her conscious (like at the end of Wandavision) and maybe she needs to use a lot of her magic within the mind plane to keep up with Xavier so she just snaps his neck with her hands while her other conscious is stuck fighting Xavier. Maybe this has a temporary strain on her magic, her other conscious is a bit beat up so her powers are off, or its taking some time for all of her conscious to escape xaviers mind because of the amt of magic used. This would explain why she didn't use the move that killed Reed on them when she was chasing them.

It wasn’t my favorite MCU product, far from the worst. Some of the points in this review were honestly insane rambling like the pin and the audience. This movie feels like the a Rami movie. The visuals, the over involved extras, some of the gruesome scenes compared to most MCU projects, and literally using a book of the dead.
Phase 4 has been pretty middling overall. But I’ll give it for being unique and they are trying new things to see what sticks. I hope phase 5 is more thought out. We’ll probably look back on this phase of the MCU as a necessary grimy step before we get to the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

in regards to the wanda stuff, I initially thought they'd be a reveal that there is scarlet witch entity in the multiverse and every dark hold connects to them or something hence why fully using it changes you and itd end fighting her

Al Ewing did some great things with America Chavez in Ultimates. She was a main protagonist and the leader of the team in Ultimates 2. She is generally considered a multiversal expert And Afro-Latina, but that's a whole other thing.

I've said for a while that the D+ Marvel shows are wheel spinning at its finest. Sam Wilson is implied to become Captain America after Endgame, then we get a show for him to reject then become Captain America. Wanda grieves and is evil(ish) in WandaVision then we repeat it in this. The multiverse is implied to exist in other MCU projects, but then the Loki show says there isn't so they can make the multiverse at the end of the show. The only two to do anything significant are Hawkeye and Moon Knight but they have their own problems.

Marvel has well and truly embraced the realm of psychological turmoil and mind-bending narratives, first by conjuring up the infinite possibilities of the multiverse in “Spiderman: No Way Home (2021)” and then following that up with the nerve-rackingly psychedelic “Moon Knight” series. The Master of the Mystic Arts faces the repercussion of his multiverse- antics in this eerily engaging visual extravaganza, with a decadent amount of surprise guest appearances and a poignant storyline that will closely resonate with fans of the MCU. Veteran auteur Sam Raimi returns to the director’s chair in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” after having spearheaded the rise of the genre with his groundbreaking “Spider-Man” trilogy (2002-07) starring Tobey Maguire. The aesthetically arresting style of the director combined with two ace performers in Oscar-nominee Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen deliver a riveting saga of coping with loss and the universe-altering ends one will go to to repair a broken heart. We join Doctor Strange after the events of No Way Home, having encountered a mysterious traveller “America Chavez” (an excellent Xochitl Gomez) who reached our version of Earth after being chased across multiverses by a mysterious unknown entity. Strange, alongside the Sorcerer Supreme, Wong (Benedict Wong) embark on a journey across the known and unknown universe and across the legends of sorcery and witchcraft to get to the truth, recruiting a morose “Scarlett Witch” (Olsen), still reeling after her tumultuous sojourn in the Disney+ series, “Wanda Vision”. Cumberbatch is a revelation as Dr. Strange, portraying the angst and confusion of a man who returned after getting 5 years of his life erased away by Thanos’ snap, with elan. He finds that the world has moved on in his absence, especially his lover, Christine (Rachel McAdams) and we get to see the human side of the world’s most powerful sorcerer and he comes to grips with his predicaments. As Dr. Strange embarks across a perilous adventure across multiverses, we get to see the immense range of Cumberbatch in full flow, with the nuances and intricacies he brings to each version of the master sorcerer in the different worlds we visit, a joy to behold. Elizabeth Olsen continues the fine form she displayed in “Wanda Vision”, delivering a perfectly balanced performance that is equal parts poignant and powerful. Oscar-nominee Chiewetel Ejiofor returns as Dr. Strange’s bête noire, “Mordo”, in a short but impactful cameo. Without giving much away, let me just say that the dizzying array of other surprise cameos not only provide several whistle-worthy moments in the theatre but also gel in well with the narrative structure. Doctor Strange’s second stand-alone movie is a fitting addition to Marvel’s darker, murkier Phase 4 where we get to explore the inner psyche of our heroes at a deeper level and is more reliant on its performance than being spectacle-driven. That being said, the CGI and visual effects are nothing short of mesmerizing as we journey along with our heroes across multiverses, with the storyline opening up an infinite array of potential spin-offs and future tie-ins featuring our favourite heroes from franchises long past as well as promising new ones down the line. A must-watch in theatres. Highly recommended! And do watch out for one mid-credits scene as well as an end-credits one.
