Phil Lynott was best known as the lead singer and bassist of Irish rock band Thin Lizzy, which Gary was also part of for a few years. I recommend their songs “The Boys Are Back in Town”, “Whiskey in the Jar” and “Jailbreak”
All good, especially Jailbreak. Chinatown is a great one too, and Emerald is a masterful display of their talent. I think Biss would enjoy Cowboy Song too.
You named my Top 3 songs from Thin Lizzy ! .. "Whiskey In The Jar" would be my very favourite .. And for Phil Lynott's solo work, "Old Town" is my top pick.
Gary Moore and Phil Lynott played together in the Irish band Skid Row (not the American Skid Row) in 1968 and became friends and collaborators... Phil was fired from Skid Row and eventually formed Thin Lizzy in 1970 w/ Brian Downey (drums) and Eric Bell (guitar) and Phil Lynott on vocals & bass... After Eric Bell quit Thin Lizzy in 1973, Gary Moore came in to finish the tour... He did play in Thin Lizzy occasionally when they needed a 2nd guitarist on tour and recorded 1 Thin Lizzy album ('Black Rose') in 1979... but Gary Moore left to focus on his solo career. After Thin Lizzy broke up in 1983 (but did perform for special gigs), Phil Lynott played and sang on Gary Moore's 1985 single 'Out in the fields'... and it became a huge hit in Europe... Sadly, it was also one of the last recordings by Phil Lynott; he was struggling w/ he+++n addiction and passed away in early 1986 after being hospitalized for organ failure.
The song describes the situation in the Northern Ireland conflict (The Troubles). Between British Protestant settlers and the Catholic Irish natives, which erupted into civil war-like conditions. ❤
They've not been settlers for 400 years. It's their home. Under Queen Elizabeth I, King James and King Charles and Cromwell they were settlers, still migrating in from England and Scotland, not since.
One of my absolute favourites. Back in my uni days, a local rock club DJ used to put this on for us when we turned up. Gary Moore's one of my favourite guitarists. Was a sad day when he died.
The singer in the rock covers band that I was in got the job as the new guitarist in thin lizzy just before Phil lynott died he had been rehearsing with Phil at his home and is mentioned in his book, needless to say we used to play alot of thin lizzy and Gary Moore covers, this was always my favourite!
I never yousd to hear gary Moore he can really sing, you said that solo was cool he can shred he could play heavy metal nice reaction i hope you play more Moore, have a nice day❤😊
Gary Moore was from Northern Ireland. In the 60s the country got into a civil war-like situation. So Moore left Northern Ireland and moved on to Ireland. There he started his music career and met Phil Lynott who became one of his first and best friends. "Out in the fields" ist one of many songs Moore wrote about the conflict in his home country. "Wild Frontier" is also a very good one. "Out in the fields" was recorded in 1985 for Moores album "Run for cover". It is one of Phil Lynotts last recordings because he died just a few months after the release of this album.
Yes, they are 19th century British Army Cavalry tunics. It was a fashion idea for several bands in the mid -80s, starting with Adam Ant, Marilion, Iron Maiden (for the song "The Trooper"), Duran Duran, Gary Moore and Blackfoot. Gary Moore and Phil Lynott were both in Thin Lizzy before Gary Moore went solo and Thin Lizzy broke up due to the members' heavy drug addictions.
Great reaction Biss. I remember years ago my reaction to that key change with the keyboard was identical to yours haha. Now i love it 😂. When i used to teach guitar and students wanted to learn rock/metal guitar id just tell them to listen to Gary Moore. Legend.
@@Reani71 Gary had no song he felt could be a B-side to Out in the Fields then it turned out that Phil had written Military Man which matched the anti war theme that OITF had.
These guys had some kinda hate/love relationship with eachother! It began sometime 1973/74 when Gary first time joined Phil's band Thin Lizzy but left shortly afterwords. He and Phil did write a song together that is a Thin Lizzy song and Gary did all the guitar works on it which he did get cred for. However he got not credit as a co-writer which i guess was Phil's way of getting back at him for just leaving the band. Gary re-joined Thin Lizzy for two more times but left in the middle of a world tour 1980 again without telling the other guys in the band. He felt the parties after gigs were more important than the gigs themselves. Afterwords he did admitted it was very unproffesional to leave like that he should have fulfilled the tour. Eventually they reunited in the mid 80's and recorded 3 songs together this was one of them. On Gary's 1987 album Wild Frontier the title track was meant to be Gary's and Phil's next duet however before he got to record it Phil had passed away.
Fun fact. Gary bought his 1959 Les Paul sunburst from Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac). Gary later sold the guitar to Kirk Hammet of Metallica. That guitar has been in the hands of legends its entire lifetime!
Biscuit you are clearly the best reaction artist alive today. I got put in hospital recently and I love watching your reactions that I missed! Time is relevant and you are worth time. You are delectable!!! Love watching your reaction. Take care; CHEERS....🍻🤟👏

As I am watching your reaction I am sitting here thinking to myself Biss would not have noticed the different sound and movement on the guitar three years ago. She sure would not have had the same question about what was going on with the music three years ago. Congrats on your music journey.
The bassist Phil Lynott is the front man for Thin Lizzy a great Irish Rock band that you should check out. A few of their songs are - The Boys are Back in Town, the Rocker, Renegade, Chinatown, Jailbreak and if you want a ballad then Sarah which is a song he wrote when his daughter was born. Thanks Biss for another top pick and reaction.
In 2005, Gary Moore played a concert w/ former Thin Lizzy members to perform classic Thin Lizzy songs as a tribute to his late friend Phil Lynott... It was released as concert DVD/CD 'One night in Dublin: A tribute to Phil Lynott' by Gary Moore & friends.
Hello Biss its one of my oldest favorites bands Phil Lynott bass + Gary Moore guitars Thin Lizzy amazing band Gary plays Fender guitars here and a MIDi guitar ( black) sounds like synth mix with guitars, flutes and more amazing sounds mixing...❤
This song is about The Troubles in Northern Ireland. Phil Lynott was from Southern Ireland but Garry Moore was from East Belfast and this would have had a very deep meaning to him. The instrument that Gary is playing as far I know, is a string Synthesizer.

The unforms they're wearing are British colonial uniforms that were worn at a time when the Brits were building their empire through colonization. In my opinion it's a clear critique regarding the Northern Ireland conflict meaning that the occupation of Northern Ireland was a step back to their colonization days. Makes sense if you look atr the topic and the lyrics of the song and the fact that Moore was from Northern Ireland and Phil's Irish.
The songs Zombie by Cranberries and Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2 are other songs about the 'troubles' conflict. Growing up in the 80s in Belfast was brutal.

I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever seen someone doing a reaction video where they yelled "hello" to a dog in the video. lol And by the way, it's when PUSH comes to shove.
I actually have never seen this before, and I'm basically just going to tell you the same as everyone else, but Gary Moore you've reacted to before, and Phil Lynott is from the band Thin Lizzy, who is an Irish band from the 70s that has been mentioned to you before. "Whiskey In The Jar" is a very old Irish folk song, but you reacted to Metallica's cover of Thin Lizzy doing the first rock n roll version of the song. "The Boys Are Back In Town" is probably their biggest song, which you should check out! Since they're Irish, I'd imagine that the song is about "The Troubles" in Northern Ireland, which I did a whole explanation about in your Cranberries "Zombie" reaction, so I won't repeat, but I still would love to see you react to the movie "In The Name Of The Father", that I'm pretty sure I've brought up before, either in that reaction, and/or in your "There Will Be Blood" reaction. Those were old British red coats that they were wearing. I guess maybe because they're Irish, but wearing the red coat, maybe it's symbolic that it doesn't really matter, and we're still all the same, or something? I don't know.
Gary Moore wasn't a household name but among guitar players he was highly respected. Check out "Still Got the Blues" if you wanna hear some true virtuosity. The strange looking instrument he played briefly is called a Synth Axe, which allows guitar players to use a synthesizer as a sound source rather than a guitar. At the time it was quite expensive and didn't really catch on as there quickly came easier to use and less expensive alternatives. The most famous Synth Axe user was a guy named Allan Holdsworth, another "musician's musician".
Please do some EUROPE!!! Open your Heart, Rock The Night!, Supertitious, Carrie, and of Course the final countdown but im pretty sure you do know this last one!!
There isn't a guitar gary couldn't play i seen him in London back in mid 90s and he had 7 guitar's on stage and played every one over the course of the night he's a perfectionist and claimed each song needed a certain sound from specific guitars. You should check out "the Messiah will come again" and "over the hills and far away"
Welcome to Northern Ireland during the 'troubles'. Sad times for British soldiers, Irish nationalist and loyalist (to Britain) people. Over 30600 people died 1968-1998. A 900 year story of Norman/England, rule over Ireland, oppression, polarised religion (Protestant vs Catholic) after Protestant victory 1692, Irish war of independence 1916-22, partition of Northern Ireland with Irish nationalist minority. Riots and protests. British soldiers sent in in 1968-9 to control and then bloodshed all across the 'British' Isles. Sad times. So much to tell really.
Ohh, now pls react to... " Gary Moore - Whiskey in the Jar (Tribute to Phil Lynott) " a live and best version if you would ask me. It has a wonderful appearamce by non other but Eric Bell from Thin Lizzy

Oh yeah Thin Lizzy❤
Phil and Gary are legends! RIP. Great tune. Gary's playing a Synthaxe in that scene. The top part is like a mini keyboard.
The Guitar you're wondering about is a "SynthAxe" basically a fretted MIDI controller (uses electronic synthesizers to produce sound)
I have seen Gary several times and consider him one of the best guitarists of all time.
