This next point is not aimed towards Gary but there are probably session musicians that the vast majority of the general public have never heard of, yet they are better players than many more famous than they are.

Whenever I see Gary play, especially live, I just get a tear in my eye. He was just so soulful and he really felt the music. You are right that he started off as a rock guitarist with Thin Lizzy and went along the hard rock route in the 80’s. His 1984 album, “Victims of the Future” was fire and full of heavy riffs and solos but when he came out with “Still Got the Blues”in 1990 it was quite a shift in genre. He had played similar bluesy style songs such as “Parisienne Walkways” and “The Loner” in the past but he really let his inner ‘bluesman’ with this song.
His biggest influence when he was younger was Pete Green, the great blues guitarist with fleetwood mac. That's where he got his famous Gibson Les Paul guitar from.
Gary Moore was a phenomenal guitarist, The Messiah Will Come Again, The Prophet, Parisienne Walkways...Rock Tunes Over The Hills And Far Away, Empty Rooms, and any live performance With Thin Lizzy
I can tell you what kind of guitar that is. It's a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard. It has a name, "Greeny",it first belonged to Peter Green, founding member of Fleetwood Mac, then owned by Gary and is now owned, and still played on stage, by Kirk Hammett of Metallica, who reputedly paid $2 million for it.

He still remains vastly underrated and generally unknown and it is people like yourselves who are pushing both his name and brilliance to the fore. He really does deserve to be a 'household name' and be remembered for his awesome talent. Of course his vocals were pretty dammed good too! You are quite correct in saying that he was also a rock guitarist before switching (or to be more accurate), returning to the blues in 1989. But Gary could play any style he wanted to from Blues, Rock, Jazz Fusion and even Neo-classical. I have been playing guitar for over 50 years now and have been lucky enough to see many, many fantastic guitarists including the Great Jimi Hendrix when I was 14 years old. Without Jimi we probably wouldn't have had any of the great guitar players we have or had. But Gary just had that something very special. His playing touched your soul. Not sure anyone mentioned it below, but Moore's guitar was a 1959 Les Paul that he got from Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green. It's owned today by Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammitt.
And I agree with all your comments on Gary Moore. To me, he was the greatest guitarist who ever lived.
Great video! I've never seen a reaction video for a Gary Moore performance, but this was great! Been a huge Gary Moore fan and it's so interesting to see your reactions to this performance. It's definitely one of his best performances. His performance of Empty Rooms in Stockholm in 1987 is another masterpiece from his rock days in the 80's.
Amazing song and amazing performance. Great reaction and RIP Gary
Glad you got to witness one of the greatest electric guitar players ever. Slow or fast, soft or loud, all played with such precision. He was a perfectionist. Sadly died in his 50’s.RIPGary
Gary Moore probably played with more passion than any guitarist that ever performed, and made it look so easy, glad you guys appreciate this Man , rip Gary .
I was just thinking the same. Rest in Peace Gary❤
Incredible guitarist, incredible vocalist. I beg you please, react to Gary Moore covering Jimi Hendrix's "Red House" from the Fender Stratocaster 50th Anniversary Show. His performance of Red House that night will leave your jaw on the floor, I shit you not!
YESSSSS!!!!!
Hell yes!! It's mind blowing!!🎸
In my opinion the version of Red House he did for blues for Jimi with Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox is better
The Fender he played that night was ruined after Gary had finished with it.
When Gary goes off it’s like watching a live fucking wizard fighting his inner demons by controlling lightning, unreal and the core of humanitys struggle with heartache..!
One of the greatest gitar player ever lived. Rip Gary we will never forget you.
when gary plays the guitar the tears roll off
This entire album is an awesome listen. RIP Gary.
I will say frankly that Asia has unbelievably beautiful eyes.
This song is my ringtone, because it's simply heartfelt and beautiful. He was amazing d
Gary Moore , the legend that will touch your soul, thanks for appreciating this video 😊.
Evan when he was in Thin Lizzy, they sometimes had a slow bluesy sound !! " Rest in Peace Gary ". I think Gary would be proud too know, there is a young generation of guitar players, that have been influenced by his style & the sound of that Les Paul❤😎🎸👌
That guitar is singing and I can feel the emotion
if I could be given the ability to play one guitar solo it very well may be this song . great song choice , great reaction , love you guys
Keep playing your great music in Rock and Roll heaven Gary
Ahh Gary M ... sorely missed ... should listen to "Still in Love With You" live when he was a member of Thin Lizzy ... beautiful and the guitar I'm sure is the ex Peter Green (original Fleetwood Mac)
Gibson Les Paul
Cool tidbit
Gary Moore is/was a phenomenal guitarist....he played in several rock bands back in the day.... already mentioned thin lizzy. As well as Skid row...
Great reaction guys as usual, as a 16 year old budding guitarist, I went to see a band called Skid Row in 1970 only for my dreams to be dashed by the performance of a then 15 year old Gary Moore. The guitar by the way is probably one of if not the most famous guitars in the world, I can tell you what kind of guitar that is. It's a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Sunburst. It has a name, "Greeny",it first belonged to Peter Green, founding member of Fleetwood Mac, then owned by Gary and is now owned, and still played on stage, by Kirk Hammett of Metallica, who reputedly paid $2 million for it.
That guitar used to belong to Peter Green of the original version of Fleetwood Mac. It currently belongs to Kurt Hammett. Worth about a million dollars. 1959 Les Paul burst.
Gary Moore had a special gift. His blues and rock were amazing. Loved his music. Thanks guys for playing him
