That ladies and gentlemen is what a Les Paul is supposed to sound like.
armadillotoe Mine doesn’t sound quite like that and never will no matter how much I play it!
I'm been playing guitar for 43+years I never cared for Les Paul's, you get any sound from a P.R.S.
Peter Green’s 1959 Les Paul, I believe.
@@robertlight2370 Yes it surely is.
... absolutely
I love every damned note that Irish Genius ever played.
Garry was from East Belfast, The Castlereagh Rd. He wasn`t Irish, he was British.
@@stephensmith4480 ofcourse he was Irish.North of the border, but Irishand British
@@garmurphy6284 No argument from me mate. I`m Irish on my maternal Grandmothers side and my ex missus is from East Belfast who would tell you she is BRITISH. Strange world Hey.
@@stephensmith4480 There is two of us in it to be honest,Stephen. We are as bad on that subject this side of the fence. As you said,

Gary Moore...one of my all-time heroes. Not ashamed to admit I cried when he passed away. He was someone I didn't think would go so soon
Gary Moore and Rory Gallagher; the best two electric axe-men from Ireland. Both treasures both under-rated.
I've been requesting Rory Gallagher at their site for a while. Best guitarist I ever saw live.
yes and pat mc manus too ;. what fabulous irish trio :-)
and Robbo from Lizzy and Motorhead
@@gerardvandooren2075 Robbo was Brilliant. 👍
Underated ? I don't think so they are world wide superstars . Ireland produces leaders in this field 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲☘️☘️☘️🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
One of the most underrated guitarists ever. Change my mind.
He's not underrated to those of us who pay attention... ;)
IMHO Gary’s stinging tone, soaring vibrato, endless sustain and beautiful phrasing is unmatched. And I sorely miss his music.
Not underrated. One of the best ever and one hell of a voice.
Gary Moore is one of the most talented Bluesman. :-)
@@patrickgrant8842 Amen!!!
Moore was a musician who could pull more emotion out of his guitar than most guitarists living today, and that includes Keith Richards, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page.
This has to be one of the best live performances of all time. I believe it is up there with Comfortably Numb live performance by David Gilmore. Someone said earlier that Gary Moore is so underrated as a guitarist and I would agree. I have never underrated him as I have been listening to him for many decades. Thanks so much for this video< it really helps bring some perspective to things. Brian.
I had to double check that I hadn't written this myself. Yes. Yes, damnit.
You are right.
They are my 2 favourite Live Guitar solos, Sherry.
Gary Moore's performance here just sends chills up my back. This is legendary.
Indeed-
My favorite guitar player! The GREATEST blues player you never heard! The best blues song EVER! "Listen to that tone, the solo ! He's plays so much feeling and emotions......unreal! RIP MR. Moore.🙏
R.I.P Gary, You're Still The Best...💯💔🙏
There will never be another like him, ever.....The Messiah he does will bring tears to your eyes...
The look on your faces while Gary played was fantastic and exactly how I imagine my face looked as I stood 10 feet from Gary at Jezabelz night club in Anaheim in 1987 me and about 300 others got to experience the master on the Wild Frontiers album tour, It was an amazing night and show and the only time I saw Gary live. R.I.P. Gary
Gary Moore was in a class all by himself! That guitar was screaming the blues!!
Just watched your video. This entire album of his is great!!
Gary was never "underrated" he played with BB King and other masters. He should be in the top 10 list for best electric guitar players of all time.
Love a great bluesmen. Gary Moore was one of the best.
I know I requested it before, but I'm going to say it again. If you love blues, listen to "A Million Miles Away" by Rory Gallagher from Irish Tour 74. Don't mean to be a pain in the ask.😁
Yes! Rory Gallagher! BBC session What In The World.
RIP Gary - you still got the blues... and... you know I love you, you know it's true...
One of my favourite songs and probably my favourite guitarist. It broke my heart when he passed IN 2011 having never had the good fortune to see him play live.
Gary Moore the legend, R. I. P.
Thank you both SO much for playing Gary Moore. I have loved his artistry for so long. And that TONE that he gets from his Les Paul, Wow!!
Check out Gary Moore "The Messiah Will Come Again"
Yes and No. Compare with the version by Roy Buchanan.
Magnificent
Yes but must listen to the live version in Montreux
The whole album that Gary Moore did is just fantastic.
I've played for nearly 50 years and without bragging I'm damn good. To be able to play that note for note is an unbelievable accomplishment as a player. TO CREATE THAT is something I do not comprehend... YET
this is the first video of you guys I've seen, so I gotta say first that I am sorry for your loss. And also you guys are such a cute couple, the way you guys look at each other it's just beautiful.
Welcome! Glad you discovered us. We love sharing the music and moments that matter most!!!!! Much love, Kel’N’ Rich
Circle of fourths starting on the ii-V-I That's why they sounds similar.
He's feeling it. The passion is written all over his face. That's a true musician at work.
Great Choice, That is probabaly my favorite song. I've been a Gary Moore fan since his days in Thin Lizzy. RIP Gary. Nice Job guys
...and when he was playing with Dr Strangely Strange - (strangely strange days we're going through now!).
Detective work.?? Who cares, i couldn't give a rats ass about the other song. RIP Gary your are still a lengendary guitarist.!!
Or try Carlos Santana's "Europa." Same basic chord structure.
or jud gallery 1974 starts at 6.15.
ruclips.net/video/ctw2jDaH21s/видео.html&feature=emb_logo
Only so many chord structures . So many songs sound similar
Can I just mention Gary Moore's vocals?
Also check out “Parisienne Walkways” live.
They have already done a live version of Parisienne Walkways. :)
Seems to be plenty of "he was so underated" comments around.
He was'nt, Because I and millions of others in the world, admired his talent for decades before he passed .
And the other members of Thin Lizzy, knew just how sublime he could be, and so Fast incredible, i play guitars and although after decades on fretboards i could never Ever hope to reach this Guys standard.
Also those in the industry knew how great a player Gary Moore was.
Great that his records and playing ability shine on.
Gary just fucks your head up, but in the best way. RIP great great man
The two songs are not at all the same.
Just because they hit some similar notes at a similar Cadence. They both hit you emotionally similarly.
But I would not go as far to say they are the same in any way.
As far as that other video clip similarity again seems very borgas to me.
There are a lot of bands out there that I enjoy like the Beatles and Led Zeppelin that clearly ripped off riffs or whole songs from predecessors.
And when you listen to them side-by-side it's pretty clear.
But in my opinion Gary Moore is not one of them.
Unfortunately as I understand it, some of those court costs fighting it, pretty much destroyed Gary more financially.
A very sad ridiculous ending to Gary's career.
Gary Moore was sued by one of the writers of a piece called Nordrach, which was written in 1974. The claim was that he had copied the guitar solo from that piece. The judge ruled against Gary Moore and he had to pay damages. The piece in question was done by a band called Jud's Gallery.
The transcript of the decision can be found online by searching Winter vs Moore.
Many find it interesting that in the years following the decision, Jud's Gallery altered their guitar solo to more closely mimic the way Moore played it.... presumably to strengthen their assertion that they had been copied.
I believe Moore had to sell one or more of his guitars to pay the settlement. (I have no confirmation of this...i just seem to recall reading it somewhere)
To my knowledge, there was no litigation over the similarities between Hello and Still Got the Blues.
In any case, Moore was the more stellar musician by leaps and bounds.
one of the most underrated metal albums of all times, is gary moore - victims of the future. the title song, and murder in the skies (about the russians shooting down a plane) tnx
Rest in Peace Gary, a beautiful soul and a truly great guitarist.
RIP great irishman and good jam with Rory,Phil and others in heaven .
It sounds fuck all like hello
Thank you Gary, so glad I got to see you live, beautiful just beautiful.
Hey Kel, nailed it, I heard it to!
RIP Gary. One of the greatest guitarists to have ever walked the earth. Absolutely amazing. Been a fan from the first time I heard victims of the future. From his rock days to his blues , absolutely one of a kind and never to be repeated. Plays with soul and heart.
Listened to this a million times and it still brings a tear to my eye every time its that bloody good..
Hello---Lionel Richie...she's right, there's a similar motif in both songs.
Great ear Kel.....holy crap I've never thought of this
Whaaaaaat?
"Empty rooms" and "The loner", from the 1987 Stockholm concert... You'll thank me later 😏😉💫
YES ... Gary's 1987 live version of Empty Rooms contains one of the top 10 guitar solos of all time!
His voice and that guitar have so much feeling, so much passion, without a doubt one of my favorite ballads since I was a child.
The single most underrated guitarist ever...top five of all time!
Love Gary Moore. Have a listen to Alvin Lee "The Bluesst Blues" I have requested it with no success. Another brilliant performer gone too soon.
Yep Alvin is up there in my top ten along with Gary, both gone far too soon.
Alvin Lee was indeed amazing, he did not get enough credit.
Saw him with Ten Years After in 75. He was great live and very underrated. On "The Bluest Blues" it's George Harrison on slide guitar and then Alvin Lee plays a searing solo at the end f the song.
Yes please - one of the best blues ever played by one of the best blues guitarists EVER!!!!!
@@williambevins Ooooh, I have to see that, thanks for mentioning 👍
Gary Moore is the reason (or at least one of the first reasons) that I like rock and metal. I was just a kid when I heard how he made that guitar cry and sing, and from that moment I was hooked. This is still one of my favourite songs ever to this day.
Best guitar player ever. Genius. I still got the blues for you, Gary
If there isn't already one then you need to get this lady listening to Parisienne Walkways
Amazing
BB King
HELLO!
Some people play guitar Gary makes it sing those riffs soar like a bird still miss him.
I too heard the Lionel Richie similarity when I heard "Still got the Blues" first some years back. Gary played it better and with more feeling though.
Thin Lizzy!
A far better singer than people think… and one of the best guitarists ever… he wrings every cent of value out of that Gold Top
I had the privilege of seeing Gary Moore live in the early eighties, he was incredible! My favorite guitarist, and the most underrated... by far. Thanks for doing this one
I thought "Lionel Richie?! She's crazy!' but Kel is right, OMG. All music is a rehash of other music.
I've grown up listening to amazing guitarists, be it Angus Young, be it Tony Iommi, be it Billy Gibbons, be it Brian May, be it David Gilmour, be it ... you get the drift. Really, truly great players - but not a single one of them made me go "THAT is what I want to be able to do!". Until Gary Moore came along with Still Got The Blues. The way he makes his guitar sing and wail in this song is responsible for me picking up the guitar. It's just something else. If you took the vocals away you'd still know what the song is about. He was so damn good emotionally and technically. He could go for a shred in an emotional song without it sounding out of place. He was incredible and he will always be my favorite player.
Now. Thats music! 31 years later. Still sound pretty good!
There's a couple of songs with that exact melody. It probably comes from an old jazz standard called "Autumn Leaves" written in the 40's
Check out Gary playing Black Rose at Phil Lynetts tribute concert. Rip Gary Rip Phil... True legends
Gary the absolute madman.
One of the most underrated vocalists ever!!! Killer tone for days, incredible axe playing, great song writer, great performer. What an amazing blessing from God Gary was. 🙏
Wow... good reaction
Please react STILL GOT THE BLUES Fingerstyle Cover by Alip_Ba_Ta
(Guitar cover)
Don Airey on keyboards. He played on and off for Gary from 1978-1990 and in 2006.
They played together in Colosseum II 1975-1978.
Got to see Gary Moore co-headline with Krokus back in 1983. Still one of the best performances I've seen live.
Nice. My first concert was Rush Grace under pressure with Gary Moore opening in Boise. We need to see Krokus covered by these two for sure.
Saw Gary Moore with Krokus and Foghat 1983 Market Square Arena
I remember buying Gary’s ‘Victims of the Future’ album in the mid-80’s and it was his voice as much as his guitar work that hooked me. Back then he was playing more a heavy rock style and he went to the blues thing in the 90’s. Either way, the guy is a legend of rock and of blues. When he hits those high notes on his Les Paul it’s like someone just poured warm honey in my ears.
Trying Alip ba ta... still God the blues Garry Moore.. fingerstyle..very bluesy
One of the best guitar players ever!!
Please check out the band "Mama's Pride "...."Blue Mist "....Great song...Great Band.....mostly Midwest based...#1 requested song on KSHE radio...oldest classic rock station in the world...you will not be disappointed
Have you heard some of Gary's earlier rock stuff such as Shapes of Things, from Emerald Isle live, or Empty Rooms from Live in Sweden.
Well worth a listen.
@Suzie.q Popcorn123 he didn't ever miss a note. The best guitarist ever.
@Suzie.q Popcorn123 jealousy is a terrible thing!
@Suzie.q Popcorn123 exactly!
Gary Moore - The Loner - Live in Stockholm!!!!!!!!!
Truly one of the greatest of all time!! You need to react to “The Messiah Will Come Again”!! Pure emotion, Gary makes that guitar cry!!!!
So you should check out kingdom by devin townsend...🤯🤯🤯🤯 The emg version
Comparing Hello to this shows her musical training. She's dead on and it was quite impressive. Well done. Steve
Gary Moore is my favorite player. Please check out "The Messiah will Come Again"....a tutorial on playing a guitar. Gary's cover of Roy Buchanan song. Roy did it great......Gary took it to new levels. It'll wear you out to watch him perform this.
Check out Gary Moore playing Red House live. It equals this performance.
If you listen to Parisienne Walkways (ruclips.net/video/fcAgmoGeMB4/видео.html) you can hear that this chord progression is a signature of Gary Moore that predates Lionel Richies song. Parisienne Walkway is the same chord progressions but to a different rhythm, and was published in 1979. Also 'Still in Love with You' written by Gary Moore and Phil Lynott from 1974 ruclips.net/video/3kzBN3SU9kw/видео.html has the same chord progression
Hello by Lionel Ritchy was released in 1984 and Still Got the Blues by Garry Moore was released in 1990.
Wow, Kel's right, that's a talent right there. Kel, you could work for a law firm on plagiarism cases. Thankyou both.
I DO like Gary Moore...but if you REALLY want to make Kel giggle...Stevie Ray Vaughan @ El Mocambo. While I'm here, how bout some Santana (Transcendence or Third rock from the sun?)
Sadly this riff has been played by many... originally from Judos Gallery Nordach back in 74. They sued Gary over it and won...
Nice reaction! But you have to reach the best voice to world dimash kudaibergen is from cazaquistao! Thanks from Portugal
not only does his guitar cry,but iy makes you cry,we have lost, yhe best guitarist in the world rest in peace my friend,
Hello to you could share you video of the group SAGA the title DON BE LATE or CAREFUL WHERE YOU STEP. tank you i like your channel LEON from Belgium
Ahhhhhh....The Greeny Moore 1959 Les Paul. That guitar has a lot of history. First owned by Peter Green when he formed Fleetwood Mac and he wrote Black Magic Woman for Santana on it. Now owned by Kirk Hammet and still used on stage.
Both Lionel Richie and Gary Moore used the same melody of the german’s band jud’s gallery “ nordrach“ dated 1974 . Gary Moore also used the same guitar solo played by the leader of the German band “ Juergen winter “
Holy shit kel..you have an awesome ear....after all these decades I never even picked up on this....Gary took a riff from lionel .... :)
In Swedish, "äktenskapstycke" is an old term which suggests you and your Chosen One have a physical resemblance that suggests you should get married.... You two have a baaad case of äktenskapstycke :-) Bless you.
So - who's the best Guitarist ever- I thought it was Hendrix - what you doin to me ? Yeah it sounds like Hello by Lionel Ritchie but Its a STANDARD BLUES PrOGRESSION , where do you think Lionel got it - Apart from the voice , Lionel is a musical minnow compared to the shark that was Gary Moore your so under the thumb Rich : )
She is absolutely correct. The main lead melody is the same melody of Lionel Richie's Hello. Additionally, a German court has ordered former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore to pay damages after ruling the guitar solo in his 1990 hit “Still Got the Blues” had been plagiarized from a German song written in 1974.

I lost count a long long time ago as to how many artists have been sued for pilching a melody or a chord structure. The problem is the original structure probably even predates those who were suing. There many similarities, but listen to an old jazz tune, Autumn Leaves, similar structure. Listen to Santana’s Europa, similar chord structure. As a writer I can tell you good writers borrow, the beat writers steal! It’s even more prevalent today because almost all popular songs over the past 10 years are a variation of a I-Iv-V-Vi structure.
Anyway, Gary was one of the best, and Still Got the Blues is my absolute favourite. If you like Gary you should listen to Stevie Ray Vaughan, specifically Texas Flood, Voodoo Chile, Tin Pan Alley, and Riviera Paradise.
And warning, Watching and listening to Stevie is not for beginners. Watch Voodoo Chile. If you did to another person what he does to that guitar you’d be charged with assault and battery!
gotta go to the Irish to get the right sound it seems. Northern Ireland for a Gibson...Ireland for a Strat ! Please react to Rory Gallagher, also commonly known as the world's greatest guitarist :-) Why not start with Shadow Play from Lorient 1994, just a year shy of his tragic death. He is visibly sick, bloated and can hardly move..let alone sing. his wild stage antics of the 70s are long gone...but BOY do those fingers work magic! They just float around on that fret. The final solo (3 minute mark) is God mode, a volcano of emotions..an outro to die for,,and then some!. ruclips.net/video/nsUKWFkmRu0/видео.html
