Great report. Used to live in Lagos back in the 80s, so it’s always fun to see the airport showcased in some way in trip reports. And I have to say, looks exactly the same as it did in the late 80s, minus the newer domestic terminal and construction ‘snafu’ of the new international section.

Great review - and you’re right they have TOO many versions of their business class - I have aircraft swaps over 80% of my trips from qsuites to 777 2x2x2 not happy but the soft product remains standard thankfully but they need to improve this ASAP - we had nots of unhappy pax and some having paid over $800 to reserve qsuite seat allocations !!!
I do find their fee to reserve a seat to be kind of ridiculous considering how expensive it already is to reserve. Hopefully over time they can streamline the different business class products they offer
OW status alone will not get you into Al Mourjan you’ll be directed off to the business lounge, also worth noting is that anyone traveling on a business lite fare won’t have access.

Patrick, another great video. Do airlines have an issue with filming the lavatory prior to take off? I recall horror stories of planes stuck on the tarmac for hours without letting anyone use the toilet. I think you mis-spoke at 25:50, the mixed grill was lamb not pork. Not exactly halal. It's nice they had fruit available as snacks, but what do you do with the banana peels or peach pits before they start to smell? I like when airlines have granola bars.

I haven’t had issues recording in the cabins of aircraft. The crew usually just asks to try and avoid filming other passengers faces when possible. As for the fruit peels, the crew was attentive enough that I’m sure they would have collected it within a few minutes of you setting it down
What carry on are you using? I saw it briefly when you put it in the locker and am interested
I just have a smaller Samsonite brand carry on that I use for shorter trips. I can fit about 5-7 days of clothes in it depending on how smartly I pack
quite lovely seats, lovely airline; and the meal? SUPERB!; the logo got my attention in all your Qatar's reviews, the shape of an ORIX, a related animal to the Gazelles, but I saw them only in Namibia...anyhow ; I reckon QATAR, along with Singapore Airlines are considered currently the best in the world....hope not to be wrong...? ...and something I noticed, you being either American or Canadian?, using the word LOO...there is just one other youtuber I follow but he's British, ERGO, loo is quite British...I use that word and Americans always get confused with my accent.

Absolutely, Qatar is wonderful and the brand is iconic! I honestly use “loo” because “bathroom” doesn’t sound quite as good 🤣 similar to using “air sickness bag” as opposed to “barf bag”
Would u do American airlines Doha to new york jfk route?
Because they are a Oneworld member and have extensive codeshares now with QR. Mostly using the connection for access to India.
I might get around to that. I am planning to fly that aircraft by American but JFK to Delhi rather than Doha later this year
QR using remote gates is a real mystery, inspite of so many aerobridges at Hamad
Probably facilitates the equipment swaps they are notorious for.

One other thing. Did I correctly hear you saying that your main meal consisted of "pork and veggies"... I don't believe Qatar serves Pork in any cabin ...

I noticed this international flights to Lagos are now using the domestic runway for takeoff and landing. Probably the international runway is under maintenance.
I do recall hearing about airport maintenance so you may be correct with that

@@PatrickSheaAviation IMHO No 2 goes to Qatar but Emirates is the best in the sky --- and No 2 doesnt come even a lightyear close. It's like getting a basic IFE or not getting one at all.
Great review...it's a shame that Qatar has so many different seating options for the business class and changing planes at the last minute is low class.
It can end up being real good or real bad. At least the soft product is consistent across the different products

25:57 did you say pork? Correct me if i'm wrong but all of Qatar's meals are halal, so that would exclude pork, and most kebabs are made with lamb and beef, if not just lamb or beef. Anyone else have an idea? I googled it and every source said it's halal meals only.

Qatar Airways Regularly operates 787s to Lagos
Correct, however it has historically been the 787-8s. It wasn’t until just before this flight they started mixing in the 787-9a
@@PatrickSheaAviation you will always Find out the Variant 787- 8 Version, always enroute to Lagos on Flight radar 24, but I never noticed a 787-9 Version.

So far there's been nothing much said about those business class cabin design on the 787s, it is said that this is the more "Optimized" version of the Q-Suite for 787 because the airframe of the 787 is too narrow to house the Q-Suite.
25:51 Also, you said that you had grilled pork on your flight. As far as I know, Qatar Airways doesn't serve pork (Almost all middle-eastern carriers don't) due to religious purposes. So, I think you made a mistake.

I did have a few people mention that, I believed it to be pork, but I looked back at the menu to find it was lamb and chicken cooked similarly

QATAR is known to give SkyTrak perks for the high ratings. That airport is beautiful, but the departure process for passengers SUCK!
I do dislike the amount of times I’ve had to board/deplane from bus gates. Their flight product is deserving of its awards at least in my opinion

QR is a way overrated airline. I hate the attitude of staff. In flight crew is tolerable.
