I don't think of homeless ppl as needy. I think of them as having mental or emotional problems because it's almost always the cause. It's the people who buy a 3 room suite for a flight who are truly needy, because the underlying psychology that leads to such things is insecurity.

Excuse my 'paranoia' but could a American person of color, with considerable financial means, be allowed to book passage, and access the opulence of ETIHAD's "The Residence" Travel Lounge?
I am asking, because should I manage to ever achieve my lifelong dream, of a "POSITIVE REVERSAL of FORTUNE", I intend to make Traveling, as a 'Premium' 1st Class Passenger, on as many of the Worlds Major Premiere Air Carriers, (ETIHAD, EMIRATES, BRITISH AIRWAYS, etc), as my Positive Reversal of Fortune, will allow.
      Thanking you, in advance.
      Respectfully...
      W. D. Wormack.
P.S., please excuse my somewhat 'atrocious' attempts at English punctuation.

@@pints6994 I didn't argue otherwise. I'm merely pointing out what very few people realize because I've studied psychology as it relates to evo-biology and fear based motivations. What most think of as aspirational is actually a product of irrational fears that came about when our species was being shaped by the pressues of a much leaner environment. An environment in which we might not make it through winter, dry season, etc., if we didn't collect every resource possible manifests as decadence in our modern world of abundance. The only chance of progressing societies beyond conflict, corruption, and wild disparities that lead to renewal/collapse cycles, we'll have to learn that the law of moderation applies to everything. Including all things monetary.

Dayum. 4100 including the residence? I would say all in all that is a fantastic price. Ok so the flight is only 7 hours so not the longest where you actually "need" the bedroom but still with your own lavatory , bedroom and a comfy livingroom on a plane is quite insane for the price. Thanks alot for showing us everything in this flight.

I’ve been through the new terminal (Terminal A, it’s called, for some reason) in December and will go back through in a few days, with business lounge access (flying Etihad business back from Bangkok to Oslo). It’s a very nice new terminal. Comfortable, bright and has everything I like about airports - high ceilings, large windows, open spaces. Not so many shops yet but they’ll come slowly in the coming months I’m sure. The residence looks wonderful. Glad to see you enjoyed it!

Great Video as always, the price was much affordable than before, looking forward to see your next video departs from the new AUH terminal. Beside, how ridiculous of BA forgot to load the second meal for a long haul flight from their home base.

Keep up the great work! My nephew is plotting his future steps after another year and a half after high school. He definitely has a creative side, especially when it comes to making videos. I was so impressed with yours, I sent it to him, knowing he would appreciate the work you put into your pieces!

Fantastic find for the cost. Hopefully if the Emirates A380 refit goes thru, more will be similar, or maybe better. I've booked 1st class back in 1984 on United believe it or not for around $10k, where we did have beluga, and carved roast, but no where near the space (being 747).

Great review Patrick, an amazing flight. I got the impression you had cabin fever in that first lounge it was kind of strange, I think I would have preferred a first class or business lounge where you could at least talk to people if you wanted to. The residence is amazing but so over the top. I think it's a bit of an experiment that isn't going to age well as it's too expensive especially for a mid haul flight. But you never know it is still cheaper than a private jet but offers the same sort of service.

    • @PatrickSheaAviation
      @PatrickSheaAviation  2 месяца назад +1

It’s definitely an interesting middle ground between first class and a private jet. They’ve brought it back to New York and sounds like Toronto, Bangkok, or Sydney are in potential plans. For long haul routes it seems to make much more sense… even if it is way out of my price range 🫠

I like how some airlines exude culture, food and service eminating from where they are based. For example, when I was on a Board of an American non-profit I almost always flew Delta and Iiked the accents of the FA's and the southern hospitality (they also had a very reasonable FFY fare that would land you in the front cabin). United Airlines (polaris service) is based in Chicago and I find that city hospitable as well...tho' brasher.
I fly Air Canada alot and flight crews based in the Montreal and Vancouver hubs often are more fun and appear to be having a good time...Montreal is its headquarters and as a Western Canadian i enjoy the je sais quoi quality and servicer (it's fun for me to speak french with the Montreal staff) particularly in the front cabin (their Montreal-based Sommelier Veronique is pretty good). The airlines based in the UAE are way over the top in luxury which kinda is the brand of their cities. And then we have Singapore Airlines, great airline, distinctive FA colourful and /or tight uniforms...thanks for the advice on Viet Nam I will be applying for the e-visa well in advance and will travel there from Singapore on their SA airline and even have one leg to get back from Danang to Singapore with Viet Nam Airlines...so intrigued with the culture I'll find with them...thanks Patrick!

Well they just announced it’ll return to NY. I’m not sure what the pricing will be with the new structure of the cabin. Pre-Covid with the full experience it was $20-30k

Great review - thank you. What a great product which sets it apart from its competitors. The one thing that let's it down though is the comparatively poor standard of Champagnes and wines on offer - way behind all other carriers of a similar level.
Good you saw BA's abysmal Economy offering as part of the same trip.

I know the residence used to come with your own private Butler at the airport and on the plane itself and your own private chef. I'm guessing post covid they must have got rid of those things but it is still a very awesome product

Some airlines let you take them home, some want them back. I’d guess they’d get a thorough cleaning before being reused. It’s like sleeping in a hotel bed at that point 🤷‍♂️

I've flown in many planes from DC3, Britannia, Comet, VC10, 727, 737 most Airbuses and the Embraer and a few I've missed. (Some military). But of all the planes the A380 is the best by far. So many wanted to write it off prematurely, so I'm glad this wonderful plane is back in service.
