could you elaborate more with the last four mechanisms. How shunt does not cause hypercapnia? and why dead space does not cause hypoxemia?

Shunt does not cause hypercapnia because the brainstem reacts to hypoxemia thus induces hyperventilation which will more likely cause hypocapnia
