- Céline Dion is giving viewers a glimpse into her battle against stiff-person-syndrome. In her powerful, new Prime Video documentary, “I Am: Céline Dion,” the legendary singer opens up about living with the rare autoimmune neurological condition as she chronicles her life. One vulnerable scene shows the 56-year-old suffering a medical “crisis” on camera while receiving physical therapy. As her physical therapist and another member of her team help her, Céline is seen wailing while she communicates with them by squeezing their hands. After receiving nasal spray, she slowly regains control and is told by her PT that it's likely she was “overstimulated” by the excitement from singing earlier; however, he also assures her that this is not the end of her journey. The scene ends with a powerful moment of the icon belting out in song, sounding as glorious as ever.

Hola! A ki no se salva nadie somos de carne y hueso, cantemos o bailemos o seamos escritores cuando viene las enfermedades hay k aceptarlas con dignidad como esta señora.😊
She is such a courageous and strong woman. Seeing the documentary gave me a new appreciation for her. I wish her a complete recovery
it is an irrecoverable disease
Sadly, there is no cure for this
That is highly unlikely, is it not? She should rather begin to release herself from the pressure to carry on performing, I believe.

To heal sometimes we need to stop! When the body says no, we need to listen. Stage 4 breast cancer has taught me this lesson the hard way. My love for Celine goes way back to my childhood. I used to be bullied for not speaking french well at school, and I got better listening to her songs. “S’il suffisait d’aimer” was the forst song I learned and I sing it to this day when I am in a rut. Love u Celine ❤️ please dont crawl, you are allowed to stop and take care of yourself.

I have an autoimmune disorder myself and I cried for Celine when I watched this. I cried for all of us who have to deal with this incurable monster inside of us. Celine has all the money in the world, yet she is as helpless as I am. It's not fair, it's not humane, it's brutal, painful, and cruel, yet we live through it somehow. I am glad she shared this moment, as Selma Blair and many others share their struggles so openly. Autoimmune disorders, so much is not known, so much is not researched. So many questions, but no answers.

This documentary was heart wrenching. If you didn’t understand how devoted she was to her career and her abilityto sing and perform, watching this documentary really let you step inside her world and feel her pain. She continues to be a national treasure and loved by so many people.
The scene that shows her medical emergency is something all people need to see to help usl get to a new level of awareness about the reality of life. We, as a whole, are so superficial, and this is about as real as it gets. I can relate to what she has been through. I've been that low, that vulnerable, but without a team of support. Only my husband has seen that side of me. She is extremely brave and I hope this film is a catalyst for people to be more understanding so that people don't feel like they can't be honest about what they're going through. I love and support Celine Dion.
Same. Only my husband, but I thank God I at least had/have him. So many have no one. Pain is a horrible experience. I also love and support Celine. ❤
Well said, so very true.

I need to watch this documentary. This woman is an icon and so loved by millions. Let's all pray for her recovery ❤
It's a hard watch
It takes a very brave person to show the world how an illness is affecting them. Love and prayers to you Celine🙏
It’s so difficult for people who don’t have a neurological disease to understand how terrifying it is to lose control of your body. Sharing this is so brave. She’s amazing!
She is so brave , I think most of the people have Experiance with stiff_ person_ syndrome ... very mild of this kind is leg cramps that coms the middle of the night , when you are sleeping , Celine we love you and thinking about you .
She said a spams..are so intense it can crack a ribs!!!
@@minakatoozi2703 No, that is not the same thing. A random leg cramp in the night is painful but it's controllable with minerals and is not a daily recurring thing. But losing all control over your entire body, without warning, all day long, is equivalent to being a quadriplegic but feeling every single painful muscle at the same time and going in and out of this state every day.
I experienced random and unexplained bouts of facial Ataxia that happened over a period of 6 or so years, but seem to have gone away now. One of the worst kinds of loss of control of the face muscles was when my eyeballs would just freeze, kind of like in an epileptic attack. The weirdest thing. I was usually aware that it was happening, might even be talking with someone face to face when it did, but I could not make my eyeballs move! My brain felt foggy and usually my entire body would just kind of slow down like I was half asleep. It freaked everybody out when they saw me doing it while at my desk at work. They all took turns checking in on me and wouldn't allow me to close my office door, because at that time we really didn't know wtf was going on, not even my doctor, and we were half expecting some sort of major seizure.
But, by far, the most frightening episodes where when I was about to swallow food (or sometimes water) and realized, with no warning, that I had forgotten how to swallow! That food just sitting there, too late to spit out, and about to choke me within seconds, and the only thing I can do is to try to stay calm and concentrate really hard on remembering how to make my muscles swallow. I will never forget the first time that happened. It was scary and confusing and at that time I had never even heard the word 'Ataxia' before.
But that's the kind of 'terrifying' the commenter was talking about in her post. That kind of loss of control of muscles that you have never even thought about before piled on top of painful spasms that you cannot do anything about except wait it out.
I became paraplegic in 2022 it sucks not having control of your body and the embarrassing moments of your life.
And a sense of shame for having "lost control", crazy I know.
She shouldn't feel like she has to prove anything to her fans. She had already given so much joy to the world with that voice. She should take her time to deal with this phase of her life with no explanations to no one. If you never set foot on stage again then so be it. It's all on record, we will always have her
Exactly I just don’t get it!! She’s acting like she’s a new artist or on her first Album!! She proved herself along time ago!! I’d be relaxing into retirement and spending some of the $800 million dollars I’ve accumulated over the years of success.
She doesn’t feel she has to prove it to us, she needs it to prove it to herself. 100% all the time, nothing less and only more. She is a born entertainer and singer on the highest notes. How can you expect her to just accept that she can’t?
@@demelzabrevoord2023 bcuz she’s human!! Matter fact not even about being human at some point over time things break down and get old! Entertainers arent GOD's and they need to realize that!!
Life has given her a lot already.
It's time to just live and enjoy what she has accomplished already, and accept .
Just saying.
@@tonybluestar4954 Thank You, my point has reached a sensible person

Oh God, heal her. She made people happy with her songs. I couldn't bear what I saw
Someone could go read healing scriptures to her
God can't help if she doesn't call on Him!!! I wonder with allllll this ... why hasn't she turned to HIM!!! HE is the ONE that has given her the gift!????!
@@sl4983ABSOLUTELY!!! But if she won't turn to HIM... it will mean nothing! She won't call on Him... she doesn't give HIM the credit for her gift....she thinks it's just her !🥲
Watched the whole movie, cried a lot. It was a great reflection of me wasting my life by not enjoying it thoroughly just waiting for the hours to pass by and the next day starts over repeating the previous one. I want to change.
Amen.
Jesus is the answer! He will give us salvation and eternal life if we repent and receive Him in our hearts as our Savior. This life is temporary. Eternal life is forever!! Call on Jesus on faith.

Not being able to do the thing that brings everyone joy is incredibly difficult for a singer. Especially one of the best. When she said what does Celine Dion even mean, I felt that. She's grieving, and it's something everyone can relate to.
Oh my goodness...I cannot help but cry, seeing her in pain & scared. She will ALWAYS be the amazing singer that has millions has come to love! ❤❤❤❤
This brought tears to my eyes no one should be ashamed of this poor Celine she can't help it 💔
If I can't walk, I will crawl. But I won't stop. This is such an inspiration for bravery. Hoping you can get back to your best health.
It is brave of her and she has the strength of an ox, but she can also be strong if she let herself rest, heal and listen to her body. She feels anger that the bodies letting her down and resentment that she can't walk and do all the things she used to be able to do,it makes you go within,it forces you and makes one soul search and become incredibly humble and then grateful for all you have done and all you have even if it's not what you want. Then you let the ego die, because you are not what you thought, everything changes, but the body is trying to scream out to her to be still, Celine needs to be still, she is suffering because her ego is making her think she needs to hold onto Celine Dion the superstar but she is so much more than that. She thinks if she lets her go she will be nothing but she is eternal and she needs to give a piece of all that love she's given to the world, to herself now. I so wish her full recovery and I hope she finds some deep peace 🙏🏼

It's absolutely heartbreaking to see a woman as strong as Celine, broken by this devastating illness. To see the raw emotional and physical pain she is suffering hurts my heart. She is so brave to share her personal story and struggles with us.
Raw. Real. Honest. Vulnerable. Brave. Don’t stop, Celine♥️
Celine, may God, the Almighty, bless you and give you wellness and healing at the soonest time.
Actually, I wish she would stop. At least stop trying so hard to sing again or keep entertaining us. She needs permission to just do nothing but stay alive and as healthy as possible. She has nothing to prove to anyone and has given us more than what we could ever sum up. I would rather her to just relax and be ok with that. But I have to say that seeing her in this video in this way was probably the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. From her or from anyone. I won't ever forget it.

I'm not a fan, even though I love a few songs, but I love this woman so much for who she is. I have so much respect for her. So many qualitys she has: kindness, vulnerability, humour, warrior, inspiration on many levels. How can you not love her. No matter what: she will always be one of the best.
I had a patient years back with stiff person syndrome. It took a long time to find a neurologist who knew what it was, let alone how to treat it. She was originally diagnosed with MS. She rapidly ended up in a wheelchair, barely able to speak or breathe. I can't remember how she ended up at the new neurologist, but she got diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome. With medication, she made nearly a full recovery. She walked into the office a few months later, and all of us were amazed and thrilled. It was a reminder that if you think a diagnosis isn't right, or can't find a diagnosis, don't give up. Keep looking for answers.

I saw this documentary, and I was left speechless. It's BOLD and POWERFUL. It is an intimate look at Celine's career, current life and medical situation. Beautiful documentary. There are scenes that may be really upsetting especially to the Celine Dion fans worldwide.
I've never been a fan but as a human I feel so bad for her right now. She is being so honest in her journey and she is suffering. I wish her health and healing.
I love Celine in every single way, but to make this on a brighter note, her wailing and crying even sound excellent as singing notes!
Thought the same. How can she still sound good in any serious or unserious situation? It's like every sound that comes out from her mouth is music 🎶
You will always be Celine to me. The most beautiful singer and person. I hope you can feel all the love we have for you. Praying for you.
She needs to be thankful, she has had more than most people ever get to have. She NEEDS TO FOCUS ON HER HEALTH,
And just enjoy life. Singing is not everything.
Just start enjoying life. Do the things you always wanted to do and couldn't because you had to work.
Singing IS her life. I'm pretty sure she is thankful, but she's very brave letting people look into her private suffering. What part of this makes you think she isn't focusing on her health? She has to focus on it every second of every day. When you have that kind of talent, it's what she always wanted to do. Don't project your own feelings onto someone you don't even know. This might help others with the same disease.
Its okay let go of singing to the world 🌎 Celine,

Seeing her being really happy connecting with her family and friends, I just want her to live her life as she pleased. Wish her all the best.
True. I think Celine has held herself to such a high standard for so many years that she feels she would be betraying fans for not being as good as she was before. And it can also be difficult to accept when one's abilities are in decline. Real fans would just be happy that they are still able to witness her.
I think her singing has so much meaning now. Bravo Celine!

Listen to your body, to your doctors and spend whatever time you've got left on this earth with your family and friends. We love you Celine. We want to see you happy and in good spirits ❤.
If she were my mom and she said that she still wants to continue singing, then I'd get real with her and advise her to sing in an environment that is suitable for her safety. Not stand on stage in fear of her body spasming and hitting the ground hard and risk breaking a bone.
Set up like an intimate session where she's sitting on the couch. Have it be a relaxed space for her and there's medical personnel staff waiting off to the side in case a spasm occurs.
It'll just be a different way of performing. And with the songs I just heard here, an intimate setting would be best.
I am crying so hard just watching those clips. When they promoted the documentary, i was so excited to watch it.
