- This video is repairing a flattened trombone slide stocking. After chemical flush to remove all debris, rawhide mallet, correct size slug, and series of burnishers do the work. Finally, using a draw plate as shrinker for the stocking end.

@@lelotz mendini lol, which they make almost every instrument. Sooo I don't think that qualifies as an off brand. Off brand would be like, they only make trombone.
@@lcope2004 ah, mendini. Personally, I recommend you sell it and buy a used trombone, they mendini are all made very cheaply. Also check other shoos

Now I know why there is that one suicide routine for trombone/trumpet players, where they wave their instruments while playing them in a way that they would collide with each other if one was off beat. This repair looks expensive and I can imagine the collisions during practice XD.
How much did a repair like that cost? My trombone slide is in that similar situation (not that stiff tho lol)
if yours isn't in in a situation as bad as this video, you should diagnose it before asking questions about money

@@jeremymarks8228 last month I went to a luthier near my city to check on my slide (and it was not bad at all, just a little grip between 4th and 2nd position). It costs almost half of my instrument.
This is my trombone and tbh I can’t remember but I think it costed around 150 dollars, not too sure though

On a side note, if you were going to store a trumpet, specifically a Bach Strad, what would you do to make sure it will function later on down the road? Oil and grease everything like you normally would? Or remove the oil and grease and put it together dry?

Not an expert but I think I'd grease and oil it. Just don't use a petroleum oil like Blue Juice, that gets crusty after a couple months
Ditto what Caleb said. Preferable do a wash before hand, though. Any acids sitting in the slides will begin to corrode and you'll slowly develop red rot. Even with oil and grease, the valves and slides will slowly seize so if you can try to move them once every couple of weeks.
I did nothing to mine and when I unpacked 11 years later it just needed some oil and a bit of silver polush.

As a trombone player, I don't understand how you could damage the slide that far down unless if you're messing around with the outer slide off. Someone explain!

I would much rather be doing this than plumbing work, it’s kinda the same but looks far more delicate and complicated. I have to do this exact maneuver except with a crescent wrench and without the part that went inside the tubing.
Every trombone at my school at least get stuck at P5 my F attachment does and it's the newest trombone. I'm the 2nd user. Thank God I don't need 6 or 7
What do I do if my trumpet slide is stuck from not being greased. I don’t want this to happen to me or anyone. Replies will help a lot.

What is the liquid that you use for cleaning the inside of really gross instruments. I have a trumpet that o have been using for 8 years and it desperately needs a cleaning. I’m not sure what brass safe liquids are out there that can be good for this application. I’m assuming that you can’t just use regular water?
Thats an ultrasonic cleaner. At home, I've always used regular water with just a touch of dish soap in the tube. Just make sure you put down a towel so you don't scratch your instrument, tub, or both. Let it soak in the luke warm water, run all of your brushes through to loosen any gunk, rinse, and let dry before oiling and assembling.

Currently there is 3 people claiming this was theirs, including me. I guess we’ll never know but this looks exactly like mine, I know because of the really dirty, almost green leadpipe
And obviously I own a shires and it was repaired by this man who posted this video a day after he called and said my trombone was ready
