Just make a normal truck that doesn’t have so much stuff on it , it blows up the price , that’s why people would want it cause they don’t to spend over 30 grand for a truck.
In August 2013 I bought a 1997 Ford Ranger XLT 2.3L 5 speed 6ft bed for $2400 cash. I still have it! It has about 180,600 miles. Gets about 21 mpg in combined driving. Sure it is not fast and you have to down for steep hills but it starts easily and runs quietly. Other than fluid changes I have not spent $6000 total on this truck that includes the purchase of the truck, a new clutch, brakes (front twice), tires, shocks, two batteries, an alternator and a few other small items. Not bad for a 26 year old vehicle. And it it not rusty! I would like a new truck with an "access"/"extended" cab but I definitely want a 6ft bed, but now even full size 1/2 ton truck don't have 6ft beds if they are double cabs.

A roll down mono piece back glass would allow for all the extra cargo space getting missed out on in the crew cab. Hell, you could potentially make the cab extending into the back seats area optional with the mono body build. Just flip down the seats and you could stack tons of 8ft long boards in. Toyota has not said anything about it being a Uni-Body so I think people need to wait and see. Personally I just want a small truck that lasts 300k miles if I take care of it and does not have major break downs before its paid off.
I could do the Stout in a single cab AWD Gas without the driver assist, heated seats, sunroof and leather seats. All I want it to do is allow me to take phone calls and have navigation, and Sirus MX radio. Cloth seats in black or dark grey. I would like some nice wheels, but I can buy my own if they can't pull it off and stay in budget. A bed liner or bed cover would be nice, but I can do without that too. Would be great if they could manage a 6-speed manual transmission.
If Toyota offers a small cab or access cab with a 6' bed option I'd buy one today. Make it happen Toyota. Some of us need room for more stuff instead of cramped rear seating.
I would like it without the hybrid cutler and a 5 ft. bed and crew cab with storage under the rear sets. I would like a naturally aspirated engine. Or would it be wrong to bring back the small Tacoma?
North America needs it . Our dealers' markups are out of control, and manufacturers are not doing enough to stop it . Starting at $10, 000, this little truck will be a game changer .
Toyota...stop complicating things. Bring back the 3rd and 4th Gen pickup with a lil more room on the extended cab and 6ft bed and an updated 22r-e or a 4cyl turbo diesel. I own 2 1986 extended cab with the 22r motor in it and a 1986 custom cab with a 22r-e. They all have 500+K and still runs strong, turns over every time and are easily worked on. Simply the best pickup ever made.
4 door trucks is what everyone has, its boring, not because they wanted it, but because its all the dealers would stock (more money). IF they had a way to open up the rear cab and extend the bed like its going to the beach. No one has that option right now, but everyone would like that option. Plus a lower bed height to make loading/unloading easier.
I want the $10,000 IMGO that is being made for other countries. Sick of all my work trucks having bells and whistle that I don't need and just break and cost more. I want a bare bones truck. No heated seats or fancy touch screen. Shift on the floor 4WD manual transmission and roll down windows. I want to be able to fix it without being a computer nut
I think the double cab with a 6 ft bed lower to the ground so you don't need a step plus a wider bed with 4 ft between the wheel well. So offer a 5 ft on the double looks bad to me. Look at the 6 ft bed on the tacoma versus 5 ft and you'll see what I mean. When you put out the 6 ft on the double cab I will order one! Thanks.😊
Toyota should bring back the hilux of the mid 80-90s!!! instant WINNER!!! my 1991 toyota hilux 2.2 petrol 4x4 is at 890k and is still a beast!!! won't sell it for anything!!! best trucks ever made..
I love it. I am wondering if it can be supercharged with a snorkel. Oh and ability to be lowered. If it has a plastic oil filter cap, it should be made of metal from factory.
😎 bring back the extra cab with jump seats and a 5 ft 3-in bed. 4 ft wide so hauling a piece of plywood or other minor household items such as a lawn mower would be perfect and room inside for your tool or duffel bag behind the seat.
Off topic. I have an 88 Chevy, 6 cylinder pickup. Bought it new. Maintain it well. 776k miles on it. Still original engine, Trans and rear end. Still runs and drives great. You can't tell me that ANY New vehicle, built today...will do that!!!.
Toyota are great reliable csts & trucks. The STOUT sounds awesome with so many models for a buyer. Who wouldn't pay just a little bit more than the cost of a Ford Maverick for an EV Truck thats AWD, gets good mileage. Has a comfortable spacious interior and comes in many models for street and off road. Also longbed and or shortbed and dual cab. Under $40k ? Come on ! Who can beat that !!!
That would be GREAT if it had a regular cab or an extra cab with a 6’ bed. We’d gladly pay a bit more for an extra cab with a 6’ bed, but a 5’ bed or smaller just isn’t right for us. We don’t want a Tacoma double cab with a 6’ bed and the new extra cab doesn’t make 4 doors so it’ll be too hard to access behind the front seats. That is a BIG MISTAKE for Toyota
I'm first in line. I think they should go the same route as the Tacoma on cab configurations. A full 4 door cab with a short bed, and then an access cab with a smaller back seat and a foot longer bed. Hardly anyone buys regular cabs anymore. An access cab like the new Tacoma, with no back doors would give a little more interior storage, bigger bed, and a more pleasing profile, IMO.
My neighbor wanted a two door truck, but none of the dealers stocked any and he didn't want to wait for the time it take to order one. So he settled for the 4 door, although he rather have the two door. If Toyota Stout offers 4 door option, then that is all the dealers will stock, barely any of them will stock the regular cab.
The absolute most imp. thing to me is that the back seat flip up to give a flat floor for my dog. I am very surprised no SUV car maker has this in 2023-24. Honda gave up the feature on the HRV and caused me to completely write off the HRV. The Honda Ridgeline has a great back seat flip up/flat floor. That truck though is just to big for me and the MPG is pretty low.
After owning a crew cab Maverick hybrid, I would not go back to single cab. Crew replaces the need for a car and truck; add all wheel drive and plug-in hybrid with 40-50 mile electric range and you have the best of both worlds. I personally have no need for off-road capabilities, but do tow a small travel trailer, a Scamp 13 foot, so need at least a 2,000 lb towing ability. My Maverick get up to 48 mpg U.S., so I'm kind of spoiled and expect Toyota to match that.
The low end stout will not be a Maverick killer because the Maverick will offer a 250 HP turbo to the Stouts 150 hp 2.7 liter for the same money. No competition there. However, the high end Stout with a 3.5 V-6 would be a Ranger killer because the capabilities are close to the same as the Ranger's low end to midrange model, but with a lot more luxury offered in the Stout for the money. However, this is not all good news for Toyota because it will cost Toyota sales of their Tacoma. A low end Tacoma starts at 34K which is the projected cost of a high end Stout offering better load and towing capacity. It tells me the Tacoma and the Tundra are on their way out and that downsizing will be the new trend for all manufacturers.
Get rid of the juicebox holders, fancyboy interior, power windows, and dashboard computer in lieu of some proper tires and adequate offroad suspension.....or just make the HiLux available stateside.
It needs to be a small body of frame and not a car frame. I own a Tacoma and zr2 but although they are midsize they are still too large for 99 percent of daily driving. Id be interested if it had a body on frame which is why i wont buy a maverick. A regular cab super offroad capabilities would be my choice
Why would they want to make it "smaller" than the Maverick? Don't gain anything by making a smaller product. Sure price may be lower, but it will have to perform better from the start to gain any advantage over the Maverick. Needs to be a TNGA Grand Highlander platform.
If toyota makes this truck, I don't think the Maverick would be much of a competitor. Ford only builds enough Mavericks to make their CAFE numbers and that's it. They sell every Maverick they make, and yet have stated they have no further plans to make additional production. To make more would undercut the Ranger, which makes them more money.
If there is a naturally aspirated non turbo version for around 26k I will be buying one for sure especially if a manual transmission is offered, hybrid im not so sure about and the only negative is toyota safety sense it a safety risk to have in high crime high carjacking places like west coast philly baltimore DC etc because they can just throw objects like trash cans or bikes etc in the road in front of you yo force car to stop so they can run up on you they need to allow driver to disable that software in high crime areas, and a manual transmission also deters theft and carjacking too
pickup used to be a bit above the price of a regular car , but today most pickup are more expensive than a mercedes , to all car makers make a cheap under $20,000 car or pickup and forget about all the toys like infotainment or electric side mirrors , give us the cars you sell in the third world at a cheap price and if I want to add any electronic toys I will have them added later if I have money to burn but stop pricing those cars out of the range of the average consumer.
I am a Toyota devotee. I've had 2 4Runners and would LOVE a small Toyota pickup. Toyotas are hands down better quality than Ford, GM or Dodge. If they produce it here in the US please, Toyota, make sure you are capable of producing ENOUGH of them.
If anything, the Rav4 chassis makes the most sense since it's already built in Alabama and Ontario, Canada. No way would they build it in Japan when the market is the USA. Corolla is way too small for a useful American size. The Camry fwd already has an electric motor in the rear to provide 4wd. All the Camry and Rav4 components are already available in the USA.
What would really be cool is a diesel mini truck for the US. And total freedom of option choice, sell it to dealers as kits better yet the public direct!
Leave the fancy stuff off..bumper it up..winch it for both ends..leave that ornamental trim at the factory instead of it being strung out in the mountains..ect. Ect
If it doesn’t have a 6’ bed, then we will NOT be buying one. And to get the new Tacoma as a hybrid, they’re too expensive. It’s too bad that Toyota doesn’t offer the hybrid across the line in the Tacoma
The problem is .... Toyota hasn't officially announced anything yet so this is all just a guess. At best, hopefully someone there looks at media like this and reads the comments and sees that there is a huge pent up demand for such a vehicle. You still see a lot of decades old small trucks on the road today because they are pouplar, and you can't buy a similar replacement. I am keeping a 2001 Ford Ranger with a 5-speed manual (even has roll up windows) running for my son to commute to work in. AC and a manual are his only wants in a vehicle he just racks miles up on going back and forth to work. He loves it and wishes there was an equivalent new one he could buy. I'd also buy one, and if Toyota does bring this to market I'd definitely be looking at it. Fingers crossed, but only time will tell if it is hype or really something headed to market.
What do you think of the NEW 2024 Toyota Stout? Let us know!
Toyota would be selling “choices”; excellent idea for a prime type vehicle.
Definitely not interested. I am thinking Honda Ridgeline. I bought my wife a 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz Limited . That thing is sweet!

You can. Import one or find an old one
Why would they want to make it "smaller" than the Maverick? Don't gain anything by making a smaller product. Sure price may be lower, but it will have to perform better from the start to gain any advantage over the Maverick. Needs to be a TNGA Grand Highlander platform.
Great video😊
No one can beat toyota quality
If toyota makes this truck, I don't think the Maverick would be much of a competitor. Ford only builds enough Mavericks to make their CAFE numbers and that's it. They sell every Maverick they make, and yet have stated they have no further plans to make additional production. To make more would undercut the Ranger, which makes them more money.
If there is a naturally aspirated non turbo version for around 26k I will be buying one for sure especially if a manual transmission is offered, hybrid im not so sure about and the only negative is toyota safety sense it a safety risk to have in high crime high carjacking places like west coast philly baltimore DC etc because they can just throw objects like trash cans or bikes etc in the road in front of you yo force car to stop so they can run up on you they need to allow driver to disable that software in high crime areas, and a manual transmission also deters theft and carjacking too
Less is more. Keep it simple- less to build , less weight, less to repair. Go for it Toyota!
I like what I am seeing. It looks a little close to the ground for more ruff rural duty. What is the payload? Towing? Edit: I am a Ford Truck guy.
pickup used to be a bit above the price of a regular car , but today most pickup are more expensive than a mercedes , to all car makers make a cheap under $20,000 car or pickup and forget about all the toys like infotainment or electric side mirrors , give us the cars you sell in the third world at a cheap price and if I want to add any electronic toys I will have them added later if I have money to burn but stop pricing those cars out of the range of the average consumer.
I am a Toyota devotee. I've had 2 4Runners and would LOVE a small Toyota pickup. Toyotas are hands down better quality than Ford, GM or Dodge. If they produce it here in the US please, Toyota, make sure you are capable of producing ENOUGH of them.
We love our Santa Cruz but, a new Stout would be intriguing.
Yeah...I believe it when I see it. But Thanks Toyota for the wet dream.
I’m thinking I still want the Hilux champ in the American market
That's a cool looking 😎 truck there now
I like it 👍
I own a ford maverick.. love it.. loved the price tag… please make it cheaper and I’ll buy one of these too..
Nothing will ever match the Hilux.
I did see a promotional video with a flatbed Stout. Is that going to be available?
But I don't want a unibody. Give me a frame
nice pick up truck, hope they sell that in the philippines toyota stout
Nice car!
As soon as these electric vehicles come with a solid state battery, is as soon as i'll buy one. :)
What would really be cool is a diesel mini truck for the US.
And total freedom of option choice, sell it to dealers as kits better yet the public direct!
Supercharger for the V6’s!
So when can we expect this to be out on the market?
Leave the fancy stuff off..bumper it up..winch it for both ends..leave that ornamental trim at the factory instead of it being strung out in the mountains..ect. Ect
I LOVE my Maverick! Don't like the smaller idea, but sure Toyota will have a hit.
Cant wait!
Ill take a regular cab, no power options, no tech, no bs. Get that price down to 15k. I can live without AC as well.
Just make sure it's 4x4 or awd. For us northerners.
If it doesn’t have a 6’ bed, then we will NOT be buying one.
And to get the new Tacoma as a hybrid, they’re too expensive. It’s too bad that Toyota doesn’t offer the hybrid across the line in the Tacoma
😎 if the bed is shorter than 5 feet long 4feet wide I will stay with the Honda Ridgeline !!
single cab onger bed yes please. And looks like a truck not car with the trunk missing
Single cab let's go. Honestly though. The OMV I think probably took that sector of the market. Maybe not though as that's more business oriented
Would love the single cab model
I need cab space and a way to carry long things.
I don't need no backup camera or power window give me a basic truck and basic price!
How come we have thousands of videos about the Stout but none of them are coming from Toyota!!
