My death was greatly exaggerated.
oh no
Nintendo: “I thought you were dead…”
really
Sometimes I can still hear Mank's voice 😭
“So, you’re the punk that banned item smuggling.”
Okay Mankalor but did you consider that TAS is cheating??
No one cares
I actually think this is the best way to nerf bagging. I don’t think the strategy is going to be completely dead but it will definitely take a lot more skill and knowledge of the game’s mechanics to use. I think it will become a much more respected strategy if it stays around
Well said.
Skill? Items be carrying yall
Wow this chats way more chill than twitter damn
I was in that lobby with you! Lol, I didnt even realize you were bagging. GGs
Well, it is a new way to bag, but what is the point to bag when you are that far behind. It definitely adds in a new strategy, but why not just race as what you supposed to race without bagging. You can win very easily with skill and luck.
The further away you are from 1st, the better your chances of getting strong items. And on certain tracks, strong items can easily carry you from12th to 1st and make Front running near-impossible. Cheese Land and Dry Dry Desert being the most notorious examples. In the middle of the race, its hard to tell if you're at the distance necessary to get strong items vs. not so strong items so people prefer to maximize their chances.
Yeah I was thinking about that. If you are playing online against good players with high gsp than you, then you will have a real hard time to catch up after smuggling good items.
I feel like this nerf was needed because people even smuggle in weird maps that don't look like you can smuggle
I never understand why so many people say you are “supposed to drive forward”. If you’re goal is to win the race, what you are supposed to do is the optimal strategy. Sometimes that means run, sometimes it’s bag.
@@dh3913 You know what. Play Mario Kart the way you want to play. I am not going to argue. I am just saying that you'll do equally as fine in not bagging as you do if you're bagging. It doesn't always guarantees that you'll come 1st Place every time, but you should be having fun regardless of how you play. If you're not having fun, what the hell are you doing here.
@@tctt185_dg You may have misunderstood my comment.. First of all yes, play however you want/however you have fun, but my point is if you are trying to win then objectively there are times when running is better and bagging is better. NIETHER strat is better 100% of the time, and while you may choose to only do one, again there are objectively times where bagging gives you better odds.
All this to say I sometimes see the argument "You are supposed to drive forward in a racing game" and I disagree. If you are trying to win in MK, sometimes you should bag.
I think Nintendo just killed this man’s childhood of MK8 item smuggling
Question: Are you more likely to get weaker pulls in online rather than offline?
I think the only difference is that online you can't pull triple bananas in 1st
@@marcojugo8147 Triple Bananas in 1st is just in Grand Prix and not VS mode too
Didn't know that, thanks!
@@MeesterTweesterIts in the frantic items mode in vs, so potentially Grand Prix just uses frantic items. Not sure though
@@dh3913 It's its own item table.
At this point i wonder if its even worth it to go through all that just to chain stronger items? You might as well just play the game normally...
Agreed, it all just seems complex, time wasting and tedious. Would rather keep on playing the game normally
it may be worth it still on tracks like cheese land but its still a lot harder and requires more skill to pull off now
Bagging is still the best strategy on tracks like cheese land, snes mc3 and yoshi circuit
Bagging tracks are still bagging tracks. Playing the game (and especially frontrunning) means watching a bunch of item-cracked players zoom past you on the final lap even if they were just in 4th. No one is going to play Cheese Land or Dry Dry desert normally.
When there’s a will to smuggle, there’s a way for Mank to bend the mechanics and bring light to the new ways to smuggle.
Is it really this crucial to be bagging
When you get hit a lot and sent to the back, yes it's beneficial to bag in order to catch up
Depending on the track there are potent Bullet Bill extension spots too
yes it is
Even if it’ll be very short live I might actually enjoy cheese land online since the wiiu version.
You can still, nearly as easily bag for bill. Even without bill cheeseland and dry dry have so much comeback potential idt they will ever not be baggers. And personally I like that, I prefer to run but switching up the playstyle every so often is fun imo
I respect you for using my main peachette
If there's a will (to smuggle), there's a way
They should make that you simply can only grab the same item set once per lap
That's a good and simple idea.
Fact: The one from Nintendo who decided to nerf it lost against manka😂
That’s crazzzyy
So what you're saying is that they need to flag entire accounts/switches as item baggers
No, because it isn't against any rules.
@@frazercowan4030If Nintendo tried to patch it, then it's INDEED against the rules.
@@Tailslover2002if it was against the rules, something would actually be implemented to prevent it. this is a *nerf* to a *strategy*.
I can’t believe Nintendo actually balanced out this game, so half the lobby doesn’t stop and bag
Is item smuggling much harder now?
yes if your go-to was to sit on an item box waiting for good items. You have to do more movement to ensure the game doesn't start penalizing you with bad items.
@@Teknanam Nintendo finally caught onto that
Oh no
Just play F-Zero bro
I'm glad Nintendo patched this but I'm also happy that the community found an alternative method to bag.
My gosh. He’s still alive?!
It’s just a glitch
tecnicaly it isn't, it's just how the game works and decides to give you items in any game
it's just exploiting the mechanics
Twitter’s Cesspool was crazy! Here you’ll see maybe two people saying “cope”, or offer advice on how to play the game without snatching items
All the nerds on twitter being pressed about people not wanting bagging to be dead are weird
just play the damn game instead pls
He’s insanely skilled and has been flown off BY NINTENDO to compete in tornaments. He’s bagging for fun and research, not to win.
Keep in mind, Front Running is definitely the best way to do things. Only problem is, if you get "Mario Karted" and get into 5th place. This might not sound bad, but that's where all of the attack items are. You can't build speed or guarantee safety and losing speed again. So, by "bagging" you aren't playing badly. It's a joke that you only play bad for a little bit to make a comeback. That's the entire point, get good items in 9th-12th, and get into a good spot away from the attack items. There's a time to front run and another to drop back. Not everyone chooses to bag at the start, it's just sometimes the best way moving forward is to drop some placements to get a more optimal position.
To play the game, you need to play your items smart. By doing Bagging, you're effectively playing smart. It's a legitimate strategy.

@@mmmmmmmmmmmmmMicrowav I do take pride in being knowledgeable, thanks for noticing.
Thanks mank, I'm a smuggler and the new strat will definitely help because of you!
Drive ANYWHERE but forward??? It’s truly insane the lengths these people will go to bag because it’s a “strategy” lol NO it’s quite literally game manipulation. It’s a RACE…GO TOWARDS THE FINSIH LINE!!!
“Be bad because that’s how I think the game should be played” lmao alright
I sense a skill issue
Bagging isn’t a strategy. It’s a back-up plan.
Some tracks just have bagging as the optimal play, such as Dry Dry Desert, Cheese Land and Mario Circuit 3
I guess this will at least stop games where the *entire lobby* bags lmao

I get it, it's boring to watch people wait at an item set, but do you think a non-bagger will understand when to hold a shock or a bullet bull to dodge a shock? No. Probably not. Baggers play smart by dropping places once they've been put in a bad position. You should too. You can't guarantee you won't be hot by red or green shell spam items so get into the back to get speed items to make a comeback and guarantee a better spot. That's how you SHOULD play not complain like a child.
Edit: I'll apologize for coming off as hostile and copy-pasting my replies to these comments, but the caps lock is unnecessary. My point still stands. Feel free to try and dodge item spam and front run from the middle, but the best way to get to the front is if you bag and get speed items. You should still know when and how to bag, not be a master at complaining.
