This large lazy Susan I stained a dark walnut with a satin polyurethane sealer. You can match your dining table, cabinets, or kitchen, whether elegant or rustic. Here I did a more rustic look for this large lazy Susan. If you use the right process for staining wood and process for applying polyurethane, you can create a beautiful large wood lazy Susan that looks professionally made with little cost.
The process for edge gluing wood Is one I learned from a master woodworker and furniture maker, yes, she too was a female woodworker! She also taught me how to dowel wood and how to make a round panel. I can also recess the top round panel if you want a low profile lazy Susan.
I guess the one thing that really makes the difference in looks is the finish. I use the stain, stain, seal, seal, sand, seal method. Allow 24 hours between each step. Sand using 320 grit after each 24 hour drying session..... except for the last one....LOL! I love the grain in pine wood, which is what is used to make 2 x 4. You can use spruce but it's a little soft for me. With the standard pine you can stain just about any color. I have even painted several that turned out great.
If you want a thinner profile, or low profile lazy Susan, then simply plane down to 1 inch or whatever thickness you wish before edge gluing. I like the 1.5 inch thickness for the larger lazy Susan turntables because they are more sturdy and hold up to larger loads. They also have a nice rustic look which is very popular these days.
Thank you guys for looking and have a blessed day. ~ Steph Хобби
Most important part is missing, attaching the turntable base!
Yep. I think we all came here to see that. At least I did. 😑😔
Did I miss the part where you actually make it a lazy Susan? I only see you making a round "table"
Exactly!!
The round top is actually the vast majority of the work. Lazy Susan bearings can be purchased on amazon for $10-20 and installed using regular screws and drill bits

Excellent, need one of these when i get home from China. now on my list for my future outdoor kitchen dining table, thanks, well done!
no information about the hardware for making the piece of wood into a lazy susan

This was a great video but I need to know how to put the hardware on lol do u have a video on that?
Nice job Steph. Just purchased one of your 32" lazy Susan table tops and judging from this video, it looks like it will be money well spent.
bummer - nice woodwork - but I was hoping to find out how the circular lazy suzan hardware is mounted - it's a mystery to me, and I need to know - so anyone with a link - please share here. Good job though Stephanie - and thanks for the video.
I'm in the process of building my own farmhouse table can't wait till I'm finish , going to order one its beautiful!
Beautiful wood work. Thanks for sharing!
- This should be noted as "table making." What size equipment did you use to make a lazy Susan this size ???
Wow, no safety net when staining on top of your dining table. I'm impressed. Thanks for the video.
Great work!
Great job! 👏👏👏
Awesome JOB Stephanie!!! Can't wait for my piece to arrive... she's going to be a beauty♥
Fab video, great job, thanks 🎸☠️🎸👍
Great job
Thank you
What brand/model dowel jig is that? TIA
Great job. Next time use a Minwax Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner on the edges of the table the edges will look better. Solid design. Thank you for sharing.
by any chance do you know how a zero clearance turn table works and where to get one or how to make one? Most of my doll houses are square so a regular lazy susan works but now I need to be able to display a house that is 35" wide x 20" deep . Somehow it can be close to the wall and still rotate.
Wow me enamore , eres muy hermoza y tus trabajos salen preciosos como tu ;)
Thank you for the awesome video, just one question. When drilling the holes for the dowels do you alternate a little as to not have then all lined up?
Yes, they are offset. Thank you for your comment, I made a Susan that was 48 inches last week, it had about 60 dowel pins, it's still drying from the glue/clamping. It's a very large Susan. Thanks again for your comment and question. ~ Steph
Imagine this with a fractal design...
Amazing work :)
Good Job
do you think this would be strong enough to put under my chair? i want to make my recliner be able to spin around from my tv to my fish tank
which router bit is used for the cutting bit?
Who manufactures the jig you used with the router to cut the circle?
Curious about what the reason is for doing a coat of poly and then sanding it off, then putting another coat of stain - what purpose does that serve? Almost seems like a waste? Looks great, though!
Hello and thank you for your question. I don't actually sand the poly off, I just sand it smooth with a 320 grit sandpaper. Then I apply another coating of stain, then when that dries a final coating of poly sealer. It gives it a 3D effect that is beautiful and looks like a factory finish. Thanks again for the question! ~ Steph
you go Girl!
Hi, beautiful lazy susan. I'm inspired to make my own. What sander do you use? Thank you!
Hello Janet, I used an orbital sander. It doesn't scar the wood like a belt sander. Thanks for your question! ~ Steph
Where do you obtain hardware for making table spin?
Hello Rodney,
I order mine in bulk wholesale, however, you can get nice 12 inch lazy Susan bearings at Lowes Home Improvement for around $10. ~ Steph

Hermoso, ¿Qué color es?? gracias
Well Done. I would of liked it better with a hardwood like Walnut instead of pine. But, nicely done!
Where do you get the lazy Susan hardware from?
A parte mais importante não está no vídeo, que é a de como prender a parte superior na base, e como foi feito para ela girar.
nice tool belt
Awesome job 👏👏👏👏
+reyna renteria Thank you, it was fun! ~ Steph
I got a question did you do the same process for the bottom?
Yes, I used the same process for the bottom lazy Susan panel. Thanks for the question!

Couldn’t Finnish watching the music kill me RIP
Fascinating to watch! Love this RUclips video, thanks for making it!
I would figure you would clamp each board after pinning and gluing the dowels in.
that heist music!
how did you learn your trade?
The school of hard knocks...LOL! I am self taught, just love working with wood, and making Susan turntables! ~ Steph
Y el mecanismo giratorio ?
dope table tho
How can I contact you about ordering one????
You didn't finish it so it spins?
THe next video ------Why don't you show the complete making of the mechanism with the base and how it was attached. Thank you for the top finishing

I was also looking for the rotation hardware, nice work though.... BUT WHERE IS MY HARDWARE?!? LOL
What is the name of the tool @5:05
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Like
Yeah. Hardware?

The Bearing is sold at www.etsy.com/listing/541927526/heavy-duty-quiet-lazy-susan-bearing
this should be called how to make a tabletop out of two-by-fours not lazy Susan. I wanted to know how you made the lazy Susan part not the table top.
OK unless I fast forward it and missed it. It didn't explain how to make it turn from underneath.
Apparently missed the part where it’s turned into a lazy susan as opposed to just a disc.
Thats Only the Top Part what about the rest of it Dah
The link to the hardware I used is in the description of the lazy Susan video above, Dah LOL!
So it's a sit n spin
No dust mask, that is insane.
Why put stain then poly and then sand? You are basically sanding the poly off and then you have to apply another stain and another poly! I like video but I would not sand after the poly
Title should've been a "How to stain wood"
I had to turn off my sound.
I know Woodglut has the best woodworking plans.
Efficient Susan, lol
Woodprix has a very large project base.
Woodglut plans are amazing!
Clickbait
This was not helpful
Kindly title your videos with more accuracy. I had to wait 17 minutes to learn that the way to make a lazy susan was to install hardware and enjoy.
Music is annoying, no information on how to apply the hardware. Useless video
All of my woodworks I am making with wood prix. Google and try it.
didn't like the music/would like talking about what your doing and why
All you did was fabricate the table top and nothing to do with the spinning mechanism!
that background "music" is truly awful! Couldn't turn the sound off in case you actually gave some description of what you were actually making!
had to watch on mute
Wasted my time watching the whole video and you didn't show how to attach the turntable base
Ok so pointless video
I can make the wood table
But the spinning mechanism is what I want to know
The link to the hardware I used is in the description of the lazy Susan video above
Terrible music, no narration, turned off after 15 seconds, shame as it looked fab, but can't stand this sort of tutorial
I did something like that with the help of plans from the Stodoys.
I did something like this a month ago with plans from Woodprix.
I did the same with woodglut plans :)
