“I long for peace before I die,” heartbreaking. One of the greatest, possibly THE greatest collaboration between Brian & Freddie.
The way the boys supported & protected him was truly loving and beautiful and a testament of to all they had shared.

Must have been hard for Brian to finish this song.
    Love you Freddie❤

Freddie passed away while making this song. He told them he needed to go home and rest and he never came back. So after the guitar solo it's not him singing anymore, it's Brian May, the guirarist, who had to finish it 😢 It's a beautiful song. Amazing how he could sing like that.

Actually, he didn't pass away while recording it. The session was in May and he died in November. Yes, it was the very last song he managed to record, but just before the last verse could be recorded, he was too weak to be able to sing properly again, so as you quite rightly said, Brian opted to finish it for him.

@@aleclewis9123 "The last song Freddie Mercury recorded, "Mother Love" is part of Queen's last album, Made In Heaven, which was released four years after his death. The group's guitarist, Brian May, explained in the Days of our Lives documentary: "Freddie would say 'give me words, I will sing' so there I was writing on scraps of paper these lines of 'Mother Love.' I would give him a line, he would sing it, then sing it again, then sing it again - so we only had three takes of everything. After he'd finished the second verse, he said 'Oh I don't feel too well, I'm going to go home and we'll finish it tomorrow'... and he never did. That was the last time I saw Freddie in the studio."
The final verse was written and sung by Brian May a couple of years after Mercury died in November 1991."

@@sannaolsson9106 That's right. I forgot to mention that the session for Mother Love was halted for two years until it was decided between Brian, John and Roger to finish the album by also including reworks of a b-side ("My Life Has Been Saved"), a song originally by The Cross ("Heaven For Everyone"), two previous Freddie solo tracks ("I Was Born To Love You", "Made In Heaven") as well as completions of a song from The Game sessions in 1980 ("It's A Beautiful Day") and one from the Hot Space sessions in 1982 ("Let Me Live"). The only track that wasn't re-recorded was Too Much Love Will Kill You. This was intended for 1988's The Miracle, but was left out.

You should react to No one but you. Only the good die young. A beautiful tribute from the rest of the band after he died. ........Then a happier song like Dreamers Ball live at Paris 79. Helps with the grief to remember better times

The reason Brian filled in at the end is sad. After fred recorded the previous bit, he promised to come back soon to finish. But he never could. And he died before he could.

@@Enny_Fash thanks. 91-92 was a rough couple years. Two cousins were murdered back to back. My dad wouldnt let me go to the funerals, for fear of retaliation, my aunt had to be sedated. It was all so traumatizing I repressed everything I knew and loved .....About Queen. Fast forward to 2019. Im sitting in a movie theater and it all came flooding back to me. I had to remourn Freddie. Felt like 2016 all over again. (huge Prince fanatic)
