I built the Freedom Tower and Tower 4, Tower 3 and The Transit Hub. Before the memorial was opened, they tested the pools daily and at full power they are a massive waterfall. It’s a spectacular sight that unfortunately the general public will never get to see. I spent 5 1/2 years of my life rebuilding that place. Lot of secrets the public doesn’t know. I worked on a project that built water tight doors to the PATH Train tunnels in and out of the sight. A fully loaded train was in the tunnel when the Twin Towers collapsed and cut power to the PATH Trains between NYC and New Jersey, and the damage to the retaining wall flooded the tunnel killing hundreds on that train. With the new water tight doors, they will close in under 20 seconds and prevent that from happening again. So many other stories that never made the news. That place changed me forever.
I haven’t been to NYC since I was a young woman. My father took my younger brother and I there and we went to the WTC, on a Sunday. It was pretty empty and the outside deck was closed but we went to the top and then had dinner at the revolving restaurant. I think that’s why it hit me so hard, I remember actually going in and marveling at them. My father told me that the twin towers were so tall that they actually proved the world was round.
You would have to be very dedicated for this. It's extremely cold in NYC in winter. Also, remember... this is downtown Manhattan. The amount of dirt and debris daily would be actually alot. People commenting to buy a pool cleaner... have ya been there? Do you even realize how high the side walls are? Or HOW BIG this space actually is? To me this man cleans a memorial every day. Is he a pool cleaner? Yes. However, he understands and respects HIS OWN JOB. Idk if I could do his job. The mental would get taxing. He has a job that no one would realize is even a job. Then there is this immediate sense of appreciation.
The thing that stands out most to me in this video is the mans pride and how he wants to perform his job the best to honor the fallen and the people coming to remember. Lots of people look down on jobs like this whether its a pool cleaner, or outhouse cleaner, or landscaper etc. Not everyone wants to be CEO, or aspires to be a workaholic, myself I work in construction and have been part of the worst jobs cleaning up sewars etc. Now im a Project Manager and such, the most satisfying times that ive had in construction are not when a job comes in under budget and on time, or we made a bunch of money, its when I worked hard, im covered in dirt and sweaty, but the pipe that broke is back together and working, or the lock block wall were building for a road detour is finished, etc. This man does the "honest days work for an honest days pay" and he does it with pride, likely shows up every day happy, puts his head down and completes the work, its not the most complicated in the world, but not many do it, not many will do it, and not many thank him/others for doing it.
Just a guy doing a simple job, taking tremendous pride in it. Well done, sir.

My father told me that the twin towers were so tall that they actually proved the world was round.
what a wonderful piece of journalism this is. such an intimate take on understanding the legacy of 9/11.
This was recorded in such a beautiful way damn
"The Man, The Curator" of this incredible 9/11 Memorial. How can we ever forget...🌹
Respect this not just a job that’s about dedication
I’m glad he is there every night. Lord continue to give him strength.
It's better to be well done, than well spoken. This guy does both very well.
Midnight to 8am? All my deepest respect for this man and his team. Well done.
This is America…we have lost our way again and I hope it doesn’t take another tragedy to unite us.Thank you for showing pride and honoring our dead.🙏🏼
Thank you for your service!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
The second image is just amazingly beautiful, moving and - in some way - peaceful. Great insight. Great short doc.
