I feel like, after so many years of playing bass, that I should have known this or made the connection. Maybe I forgot it... Thank you for the lesson and reminder!
Merci beaucoup, this helped a lot...for my left hand piano. I had to quit playing the 3/4 bass since I have shoulder problems and can't aggravate them. Your lessons apply equally well to the 88s and I'll put it in practice. I hope you're playing pain free, I have a video of my low back exercises that take 30 seconds a day. But they have to be done every day. Oh My Aching Bach. And there are several treatment techniques for the shoulders and hands that could interest bass players.
Nice work as always. Two questions: 1. what's your signal chain (love the tone) 2. Is that a Warwick Star bass in the background...? Would love to hear that one!
Yes, it is a Warwick Star bass! And I'm just using the bass into a Reddi DI into Protools. I often use the Aguilar head as well for a DI or monitoring... you'll see/hear that in most other videos.
What other musicians share your curiosity, authority, and willingness to share? There were a couple of well-known bassists in LA that gave $10 lessons before the internet. Your jam is the closest thing to that.
Thanks Ryan! 62 yo new bass player here. I'm learning a lot!
Outstanding! Good lesson for groovin’ those blues😎
Great Lesson Ryan🎶🎶

Hi Ryan.. I agree, another great lesson.. thanks for your time on all your Bass lessons.
Simple lesson but very useful ... and cool! 😎
Great lesson Ryan. Love your channel. BTW, I'd love to hear that Starbass through you Aguilar rig for one of your lessons.
Great lesson as always! I like the way you connect a simple theory/technical exercise with a musical baseline. Keep up the good work
Awesome, thank you!
Nice lesson! Cool with the different position options, including open string versions.
i agree with all of these other fine folks here . i love watching your videos and the way you can tie in theory without us even realizing it .

Great lesson, Ryan. Thanks!
Good triad exercise
If you play this in straight 8th notes you have the verse of "Space Cowboy" by the Steve Miller Band.
Hi, simple but still very interesting ! Would you know what are those pickups ? Thanks
They're Aguilar 4P60s.
Ryan’s gonna make a bass player out of me yet! 😅😂
Fantastic lesson!
You can do it!
