Hey guys, I wanted to make a slight timing correction to this song. During the verses The Em and D are all on down beats and the G is anticipated. The anticipations occur in the chorus are correct. So if you're playing with the song and it sounds like you're rushing the changes in the verses even though your playing in time that's why. If you listen to Mike Campbell's rhythm part its really clear.
Love this channel, but just wanted to point that out to anyone who might have to learn this for a gig.

Wow I finally got this song down with the right strumming pattern and rhythm. After 2 years! I highly recommend doing some strumming patterns and Rhythm practice if your guitar skills are not up to par. Incredible I took a really simple strumming pattern and rhythm tutorial and after learned how to play a song correctly in one day that I'd been trying to learn for 2 years.
Strumming pattern tutorials seem so lame and pointless but it changes everything when you just take a few minutes and do them

Hey Marty: New Subscriber, though I’ve been sneaking in and out of your channel as I needed help with various songs. You always know how to explain things in a unique way- so that we learn it! Thanks so much for your efforts! Especially this past week or so, these Tom Petty lessons somehow lessened the gutpunch I felt when I learned about his passing. Sad sad day. Same day I had to put my 20 year old cat down. Then Vegas happens. Then Jason Aldean opens SNL with Won’t Back Down! So really, to just get lost in jamming some Tom Petty you taught me really made this past week bearable. Thanks Marty! Truly. You Rock!
