we just moved from san diego to herriman and everything you touched on is so true! we were just talking about how weird it is to go to ikea or a grocery store and not have to fight crowds or plan an hour for parking! and the sky is normally not hazy, it is due to the fires! we do get something called may gray and june gloom though which creates a lot of cloud coverage but the haziness is from the fires mostly! and lastly, we totally agree with everything being dirty there- we’ve noticed in utah that everything is super clean and the architecture here looks brand new! great video as always! 🙌🏼
Awesome! That's cool to hear that a lot of the points I touched on were not just our experience, but are actually other problems that people run into! Congrats on your move to Herriman!
Just discovered your RUclips channel last week, and, while there's a lot of good information you put out, I just want to say that I love the comparison videos like this a lot. You're honest with both goods & bads, and that helps with the trust issue that's sometimes lacking with the realtors who tend to sugarcoat everything. Thanks for doing what you do!
Thanks for the feedback! I am glad the videos have been helpful. I realized a long time ago that no area is 100% perfect, so I do my best to give an honest breakdown of the area, homes, market, etc... I'm glad it has helped!
Thanks for creating this content! I have grown up and spent most my life in Cali. Recently I've spent time living in Texas, however i'll be moving to Salt lake in October. Your videos have given me some great insight on Utah.
California has only downgraded since the 1970s while Utah has dramatically improved. Love the safety, low crime, clean air, new/modern buildings, and beautiful scenery of Utah!
When I was in SLC, I actually really liked the architectural styles of the houses there. Being from the east coast, Southern California houses are almost a little too exotic for what I'm used to and I appreciate that at least in Capitol Hill, people seemed to get super creative with their gardens.
You nailed it! You just made me realize that yeah, the neighborhoods out there aren't really defined. I had a bunch of restaurants in front, a Walmart to one side and a highschool to the other side, and I lived in the suburbs lol
Great videos man. Just to give some background about some of the differences. 1. Parking is scarce and expensive to mitigate traffic. Can you imagine how much worse traffic would be if parking was plentiful and free? I'm glad Utah is moving in this direction, albeit slowly. 2. Mixed use is great! I love the 9th/9th and 15th/15th neighborhood because they remind me of CA. It's great what neighborhoods can be when zoning doesn't impede good development. 3. Main arterials are somewhat curvey in La Jolla due to topography. But smaller streets are better for pedestrians, so that's a win. I enjoy your videos!
Southern Cal is way different from Northern Cal. Northern Cal if you get a chance to visit, its only 11 hours of driving to SF. You think its bad down there we're worse lol
Lol, yes I have made the trip to Northern California many times. It's been a few years, but I've spent time in Sacramento, Oakland, SF, Alameda, etc. and I noticed a lot of the same things.
One huge difference. There are way more Californians in Utah, than the other way around. Which tells you a lot about California but also where Utah is headed.
There’s a lot of property crime and drug related crime, but you can walk around at night and feel perfectly safe in most areas. Like most cities there are a few sections that you should avoid at night, but I’ve never felt unsafe living here and I live in South Salt Lake which is the most dangerous suburb of SLC. We had 6 murders last year and all were drug related or the result of domestic abuse. The chances of you getting killed just walking down the street are slim to none here.
Yeah this hits it perfectly. There is more property crime and drug crime, but violent crime is lower here than in most areas. I too feel totally safe being out at night walking around, and I think this would go for 90%+ of the areas here.
This crap showed up in my feed and I can summarize this video in three points. 1. You didn’t do proper research and stayed at an overpriced hotel. 2. You claim San Diego (a pretty standard metropolitan area) is “dirty” which is usually code for “I saw a homeless person once and it scared me” 3. You went to one suburb and somehow couldn’t find parking, and claimed this is true for all suburbs. Been living in the inland empire of california all my life (a place you would likely never step foot in given how “dirty” you think SD is) and have never once had issues parking anywhere. California has plenty of issues but none of these issues are exclusive to this state, and plenty of them are shared with Utah. You yourself have made videos on gentrification and rising rents in SLC, something you no doubt benefit from. Yet somehow, California is the problem. I recognize your job is to promote Utah real estate and trashing California is the easy route, but to put it frankly you have no idea what you’re talking about.
So many mistakes. For one “many of You People” not the correct way to address your subscribers and followers. Second San Diego?!?! Not the right place to go to compare California.

Great point! Thanks for sharing your perspective.
Welcome back to SLC - been visiting Lehi now pretty quickly with family on a road trip.
I'm glad to be back. California is a great place to visit, but I like it here better.
You nailed it!
You just made me realize that yeah, the neighborhoods out there aren't really defined. I had a bunch of restaurants in front, a Walmart to one side and a highschool to the other side, and I lived in the suburbs lol
LOL. That's exactly how it felt.

visited this year, will try to make the move sometime in 2023

As a frequent traveller whose been a plethora of places, yeah, California is definitely strange, I could never call it home. Can't wait to be in Utah.
Hey can you help explain the crime rate In SLC? I've heard its very low but AreaVibes ranks it very high in total crime

@@LivingInSaltLakeCity barely any gang related shootings?
Sorry, dogs do not belong in public businesses, certainly not in restaurants!
It’s not okay on how much $$$$ it is to see for parking not bad to much money $5 okay but $39 nope
California is very expensive. That's why I just moved to Utah
Utah really clean...
Parking .... Much better in Utah!
Yes I agree!
California has the beach. We have Mormons.

Haha, I thought the same thing. One city does not define an entire state. I stopped watching at 2.5 minutes.
