Yup. Ketamine is absolutely terrifying at times and very weird too. There were moments I felt like I was in a video game because everything looked like it had a 16bit filter. My arms looked like gorilla arms, my legs were short and it took me an hour to walk less than half a mile to a friends house. The terrifying part was when it felt like I was floating in the corner of the room looking down on myself and my friends. I definitely felt disconnected from myself though I wouldn’t go so far as to say that it was my soul leaving my body. As interesting as the experience was it’s definitely one that I wouldn’t want to go through again anytime soon.
Yeah I agree, dissociative's can be quiet frightening. Salvia was my first time experiencing a dissociative, back when it was legal in my State. It scared me, I had no idea what was going on and could barely move. Learned later you just need to relax into it. Frightening when you don't know what it expect though.

Most ghost sightings are actually residual energy playing itself out over and over again like a VHS tape whereas spirits have consciousness and are free to go anywhere they wish. Soul and Spirit are two separate things. Ghosts(if they exist) are Spirit, not Soul. Spirit is what carries Soul in the body. Spirit is the energy and Soul is the consciousness. There is no consciousness in ghosts. If they are real, they are sort of energetic accumulations to a certain place form a deceased persons Spirit. Its not their Soul. This out of body experience is about Soul, its not same as ghost. The problem with this sort of topics, is that scientists rarely understand even the basics of metaphysics and metaphysicians rarely understand anything about science. There are quantum level happenings going on in our brains, which would allow something, like Soul, which gets entangled from some other dimension to brain matter to "control" the brains. I recommend looking into studies of Stuart Hameroff and Sir Roger Penrose about the topic of quantum consciousness.

The subject of 'metaphysics' was originally created by a doctor in France in the late 1800's- when he retired he wanted explore the concepts of the spiritual world. At first his papers on his own independent research attracted great attention from the scientific community but because his experiments could not be replicated, which is mandatory in science, his ideas got relegated to what is known today as 'pseudo science'.

I can't really imagine yet how all the information on a complex, chaotic, chemical structure like the brain could be transfered to a simple, orderly, electronic structure that is a microchip or combination of microchips. I really don't see it happening. The most I can see happening is like a loose collection of memories and thoughts of the deceased person being stored on an electronic device. Not capable with interacting with us, but us only with those. Like scrolling through an old photoalbum. At best it will be a recording of all our conscious thoughts during a certain time a chip is implanted in our brain, it still being incapable with interacting with the world around us.
If future technology can store consciousness I would assume it could also generate consciousness. I've got a suggestion on what you can do for an episode: How do we measure a ghost? Things that ghost hunters use like ectoplasm, devices that can "listen" to ghost voices, ghost cameras and all that jazz. They are most likely fictional, but where does their basis lie? Is there any scientific ground for these devices? If we would try to measure a ghost, what would we attempt nowadays?

As with all scientific advancements, people used them to try to detect the soul or spirit and unfortunately the people doing so didn't understand what they were doing as well as those who still use them today. But just because we haven't figured it out yet doesn't mean souls don't exist. Microbes existed just fine for millennia before we first saw one, same with electricity and so many other things that we used to define as part of a spiritual world. Someday we'll figure this out too and I hope that day helps us realize that just because you know how something works doesn't "debunk" it as a spiritual thing.

There is a Neurologist at ASU that has an ongoing study on the soul and he seems to theorize that it does exist. Science is always theories that are then proven or disproven. But it always evolving. So we can’t just explain away everyone’s experiences, lest we forget “confirmation bias”.

Science is really not trying to investigate or prove the paranormal, and those who do, are ostracized and their methods ostracized even moreso.
