I have only been at it for a short time and still learning, I do know Viking is a long established piece of kit , I’m hoping for better things with the new firmware update , Happy digging and thanks for watching.

Been fascinated with this sort of stuff since childhood Kevin when we used to search fields near to home just like that one but with no detector.
It's amazing how much the Farmer's plough unearths and found lots of old bits of ceramic pottery and glass bottles.
Great pastime and really connects you with not only our past, but nature as well.
What was the coin? Couldn't quite make it out.

Hi Roger and yes it’s good going field walking and surprising what gems you can find and getting amongst nature is nice too and finding any artifacts or coins is a bonus , The coin I found is an interesting one dating to 1816 and wasn’t official coinage but was used locally I believe in Walthamstow mainly in pubs so something a bit different, Thanks for watching and catch you in the next one Kev

Hiya Kevin a man of many skills. Is this a long held hobby or just since you retired?? Not something I'd ever thought about. Accept when you read about the big finds. And you start thinking about how you'll spend the money. 😊😊Great way to dig up some local history. Another interesting video. Thank you for sharing. Allan&Family

@@AllanNeaves-qn3zr Hi Alan and thanks for watching, I bought a detector about 40 years ago but didn’t have much time to use , and yes since I retired I bought a modern detector and started detecting again but due to health limitations i cannot due much but it does get me out of the house and sometimes find some interesting things , Catch you later Kev

I got asked to review one about 2 years ago and quite excited but when I read the reviews they were saying it was more of a kids detector, rather than a good one, so turned it down. Interesting hobby if you can afford the real expensive kit and just imagine if you found an old Viking hoard! Cheers Alan

Hi Alan thanks for watching, I haven’t been doing this too long and still
Learning, my machine cost about £850 new and have added to it but do find it a steep learning curve , it’s a interesting hobby and sometimes you find some historical gems and any Viking would be cool , Catch you later Kev

I’ve also found that Beach W works really well on damp soil fields. I know a few people who use Beach mode on land too! I’m staying on V1.09.

Had the same chatter, upped the IF from 0 to 1 and GS from 0 to 1. Took care of most of the chatter. Not happy that I had to up the settings though. Pin point same here. Sound was squirlly. Not the same as it was.

It wasn't a ground balance, it was a noise reduction you did there

    • @thedurhamvlogger

Thanks Henrik that’s what I should have said , I’m sure I read somewhere that we don’t need to ground balance here in the UK ……But I might be wrong , Thanks for commenting.
