I know money is such a taboo topic but I have to say, I really respect you for sharing your income specifics with us. For those trying to learn more about person finance and budgeting, it’s incredibly useful and helpful. I also have to say that while I love your fashion and lifestyle content, I love that you also talk about serious things like this. You have a platform and a lot of young women look up to you and follow you and I love that you’re using that platform to educate and teach your viewers about responsibility, budgeting, and mental health.
katy i’ve been watching you since i was in eighth grade (i’m a senior in college now!) and it’s been amazing seeing you grow into such a strong, amazing woman. i’m an only child and these talks, especially the sometimes “taboo” ones, have helped me so much since i’ve grown up. you’re like the big sister i never had and always wanted. thanks for sharing your advice and being so authentic! it doesn’t go unnoticed
i live in manhattan and no, that's just indicative of her financial decisions, if she's struggling. it's not cheap to live here by any means, but 120 a year is plenty. i don't even make as much as her and i live solo and do just fine.
To all young 20 year olds etc on here the biggest piece of advice I want to add is have an emergency fund of at least a minimum 1000 and start a 401 l of Roth 401 as early as you can
Thank you for talking about the weekend drinking binges and toxic friendships! It’s such a reality check to realize that some of your college behavior and friendships don’t work in the “real world” and learning to accept it and change things!
Would LOVE for you to do a q&a or just chatty style video with your friends (especially Julia, always love her energy) about post grad life for all of you!! Especially since most of you wound up in NYC together. It would help your subscribers in the same position (like me, my first few months out of college) to hear about a variety of options and paths that you and your friends have taken! Of course, only if they don’t mind being public about it. Loved your college vids when they featured your best friends, it seems like you really found a genuine group.
Im graduating this May and have tens of thousands of dollars in student debt and am going to be a teacher and live in a super expensive city pls send prayers haha
I feel you 10000% I’m currently in my last year in university to later go to grad school but the truth is that I don’t want to do that... My real dream is to be a SUCCESSFUL Social Media Influencer. I just want to focus 24/7 on my RUclips channel, Instagram and just build my presence online but I just can’t because I won’t have any income to provide for myself since I’m not making money doing what I love still and I also don’t want to disappoint my parents. I’m always so depressed thinking that I won’t be able to live the life I love. But for now I’m just balancing the two in the hopes of one day... social media could become my full time job.
I love your channel! This video came out at perfect timing. I’m 19 and I just moved out of my parents house with my daughter and husband. Being an adult suddenly and having a child dependent on me is tough, but hearing those positive words from others and never giving up makes the experience amazing. Keep family close as an adult and positive influences because they will definitely help keep you going and guide you! Lovely tips😌💕
i really appreciate how transparent you were with your salary and what you make doing content creation. It makes it a lot more realistic especially as someone who just moved out after college and is living on an entry level salary
it doesn't sound like it from what she said about keeping a 9-5 while she's figuring it out! :) but yeah, so true, her and Kristee Vetter are the only ones I can think of! And I love this content lol
I appreciate how transparent you were in this video. I loved hearing all of this because I’m currently a senior in college. I’d love to live in NYC post grad or really any city. I relate strongly to the bit about partying and invaluable friends. I’ve decided to just roll back on going out as much because I truly didn’t like it in the end. I love being social and meeting people but I don’t need to feel like crap every day after that. But it’s okay to read a book or write or paint to keep me sane! Also love the design hobby side hustle!!
i would sooo buy a pack or bundle of iphone wall papers if you designed them, like 3-5 wall papers for however much youd sell them for, or something like that!
About 15:45 hit me super hard. I'm in my senior year of college and I feel like my life has become school and applying to internships. Gonna try to take my last two quarters about trying a bunch of new side hustles and hobbies. Love the video!
You are such an inspiration Katy, I see SO much of myself in you & even your interests match mine, so it's so great seeing your content and listening to your advice ❤️
Wow. I remember watching your videos with your friends when you were in college and I was like, in middle school or high school and the idea of college seemed so far away for me. Now I’m a Junior in college and here you are still giving great advice!
I sooo feel your comment about people working all week and then being hungover sunday. im in that weird post grad bubble as well with that whole weekend drinking 24/7
Honestly thanks for all these advice videos! I’ve been watching you since your boy advice videos with your high school guy friends and haven’t looked back since. Your like a virtual older sister I never had coming with the video topics I need the most at the most coincident times. Much love ♥️
How did you land a 65k job straight out of college? Were you over qualified because of your whole online persona? I’m finding it so hard to get an entry level job that pays well - but all of these youtubers get awesome entry level jobs that pay 50k or over /: I need help.
bronwyniguess I know this is a question for Katy but my best guess is that if people that could be considered influencers try to go into marketing, advertising, or communications based positions their online presence probably does help show experience and ability much better than your average college graduate with maybe only an internship for experience. Especially if the influencers have a history of working for and with brands. Katy did a lot of work with L’Oréal for years before getting hired there. she has a video about it that was super interesting! :)
@@BronwynAlexandriaa also keep in mind salaries in NYC is normally above the national average to take into account the higher cost of living. The rent for a studio apt in manhattan can pay the house mortgage in other parts of the country, so pay is usually higher to offset this.
katy plEaaaase teach me how to juggle freelance life and work life because im currently drowning in doing my artsy stuff while doing my internship. I’m always struggling with time management especially when it comes to work... :-(
Most of my money is spent on rent and food. Basically to survive. Then train tickets. I dont own a car and buy my clothes 2nd hand (apart from underwear socks etc of course!) And then I buy things like art supplies. Eating out etc..
I just started listening to your podcast and I’m in love! I have a podcast and a blog and a RUclips channel but lack creativity and overall confidence when it comes to creating content /: praying I get inspired!
Katy we are similar in the strangest ways!! We have the same birthday, passions, personality traits, and I also named my car Stella 😂. I’ve been watching your videos since my freshman years and I always think it’s crazy how similar we are. Happy early birthday 💛
Jesus If you lived in my country you'd be filthy rich, however I know the cost of living in the USA specially in New York is quite high. I've watched your videos since you started youtube probably, and I'm so happy to see you living all by yourself right now! She’s frickin awesome!! She’s like the big sister we never had💛
Honestly thank you for using like ur actual salary and stuff most people don’t do that and it just makes everything more confusing

No matter how much you flourish in your side hustles, please always remain this authentic. It’s genuine, it’s beautiful, and real. 👏🏼✨
It’s so crazy how you make ~$120k/yr and still can barely afford to live in NYC! Definitely puts things into perspective
G M she also doesn’t have a roommate that’s the epitome of rich in NY lol.
But i also feel Katy eats out a lot and buys solo Many clothes
Thats why i would never move to ny

Recently I started doing my internship. Every morning when I am getting ready, I am watching your videos. They are so inspiring!!

Love this video! Something I constantly remind myself is that social media is a highlight reel and not many people are open about their struggles.
i really appreciate how transparent you were with your salary and what you make doing content creation. It makes it a lot more realistic especially as someone who just moved out after college and is living on an entry level salary
this was sooo helpful as somebody trying to start up creative side hustles alongside college. also you give me hella wholesome anne hathaway vibes
Katy thanks for being the big sister I never had! ❤️❤️ we all love you so much
Are you quitting L’Oréal? I hope not. Your like the only yt with a traditional job
Kily Evans that’s what I’m thinking too.....
it doesn't sound like it from what she said about keeping a 9-5 while she's figuring it out! :) but yeah, so true, her and Kristee Vetter are the only ones I can think of! And I love this content lol

65 AFTER taxes for an entry-level position after college? you go girl! Is that normal bc it's NYC?
Shireen yes it’s normal for nyc bc of the cost of living
Def not normal for NYC! I work in an entry level marketing job in nyc and I do not make that or know anyone who makes close AFTER taxes
65K is not normal for an entry level job. She’s lucky with timing and has skills that are suitable for that role tho!
i would sooo buy a pack or bundle of iphone wall papers if you designed them, like 3-5 wall papers for however much youd sell them for, or something like that!

Your videos are always right on time for what I'm going throughhh

I really like your voice:))♡♡
Ur just the coolest
Wow I’m really early 😯 Hi there! 🥰
lip look?
I think you would look great with like 6 inches off your hair! I know it sounds like a lot, but I think it could be really great!!
Louisa Mann I think she looks better with long hair She’s had shorter year a few years ago and it didn’t suit her as well as long hair does
Great video. Amazing method but right now I rather settle for trading. I have discovered a method and now make massive profit when I trade
