In this chatty cook with me video I talk all about making that bread, while literally making bread (rosemary focaccia, to be exact). I answer your questions about balancing work and school, my first jobs as a teenager, side hustles, selling clothes and art online, starting your own business, freelance photography and videography, video editing for other RUclipsrs, and of course how I earn money as a RUclipsr / Instagram human / ~influenceR~ through AdSense, affiliate links, and sponsorships. I also give an actual breakdown of how much I spend in a month living in LA and tips on how I budget.

Girl, your subscribers understand that you need an income. You don't need to give up the sponsorships just be transparent and honest about it.
personally i agree with her choice.
Trashtheticxx yes me too. I love watching her videos and if ads means she can continue doing what she love I have for sure no problems with it. We still need to make money to survive :D
Agreed! Make that bank! We also wanna know why you love the products of the sponsors you decide to partner with
Yooo we trust you. Some companies are doing great shit. If one of them wants to give you money so we can learn about them I'm in
We respect ur choices either way I understand your creative choices. But if it's something (product or company that helped you) it might help others too
she's one of the best examples of how an incredibly strong set of values contributes to an incredibly successful career. cheers to her
Values have nothing to do with it. It's called luck. Most corporate CEOs and business leaders are certified psychopaths. Their sockholders mean far more to them than thrir customers, and countless lawsuits prove it.
The cigarette CEOs all know they arebselling a deadly lroduct that kills their customeds, and they make massive personal fortunes off of it.

you can just SPOT people that haven’t worked in service jobs from their attitude to workers
A. T. Any job that requires you deal with many different customers on a daily basis.
yup. never ever ever will I be mean to a waiter or waitress no matter how not nice they are. NEVER. They don't have to be freakin nice and smile, they do a damn hard job for 12+ hours, have to serve pretentious people etc. Similar for every other worker.
Or at the very least it’s been many years since they’ve done customer service work.
Not a service worker, but I know sooo many of them and it's a reflex to be nice to them. My parents will get snippy with them and I'm just like pls don't yell at them they're doing their best
A journalist in the UK named Sali Hughes always says, "Never trust someone who hasn't worked in a shop, a pub, or a restaurant".
You really shouldn’t feel guilty for your privilege if you’re doing things to help others with less privilege than you. Also the same thing for sponsorships make that bread sis! 🥖 💸🍞 💰🥯
Aye Tuedon well said ❤️

I know what you mean! I feel like she's the cool, older sister!
I honestly don't mind seeing sponsorships as long as they are products that actually work and you trust them.
saaame! and if it’s something that she really loves and would like us to try because it’s really good, it’s nice when it comes with that “you tuber discount code” lol
Exacto. Honestly I have seen ppl show off products they’ve never used, open them and try them out on camera then continue to act like it works even when they know its bullshit
If i really don't want to see the 500th squarespace ad i can skip it. You make your money.
Thing is, I swear there are about 5 brands (Skillshare, NordVPN, etc) who between them sponsor everyone
Malynn Thomson even better when it’s a product that’s the person has raved abt without a sponsorship and got a sponsorship for it
Beautiful, intelligent, responsible , self aware and ethical? It’s very hard t to find youtubers with these many qualities and near impossible to find this young. Cudos to you and your parents, them must’ve done something right during your upbringing for you to be doing so many things correctly and conscientiously. This is a great lesson.
Wow, impressively dumb comment you belched out there.
Ask the cigarette CEOs to teach you economics 101. You can successfully kill hundreds of thousands of customers per year and still make astounding fortunes. Capitalism has ZERO to do with ethics. Apple, Nike, and countless other companies know their products are made by child slaves with zero safe work conditions/practices, and they love it. Tim Cook is unimaginably wealthy from destroying the lives of children in other countries.

THAT INTRO IS EVERYTHING! People who dont acknowledge their privelege and just go "yea im rich" trigger me, but thank god u didnt! Love a socially aware queen
1/ she's not rich, she earns good money
2/ sad that she HAD to make that disclaimer because of people like you who get "triggered" because other people earn more than you.
Txmilx ssi that’s a pretty genuine trigger tho. It rly was her responsibility to show how privileged she was before publicizing her financial success because it does stem from a place of privilege. Some people genuinely can’t have jobs that pay as much or work as hard because of disabilities, etc. it’s honestly rly gross to just assume that someone getting triggered by something like this only stems from a place of jealousy. You don’t know their life so you shouldn’t make such assumptions.
Genos West it’s still not her responsibility tbh, it’s a nice courtesy, but she doesn’t have to apologize for having better opportunities than some people. People will always have it better and worse that someone. Even the poorest in a first world country are better off than the poorest in a third world. It literally has always been like that. Everyone can’t have the same privilege and nobody needs to apologize for having good or bad fortune. It is sad that she feels guilty that her family was able to set her up for success because somewhere down that family tree someone had to work really hard and that kinda just undermines them making sure their family was successful for generations. Everyone wants to talk about generational wealth and then when they see people who have it they want to shame them and that’s not okay.
@@mileyandjustin1fan I definitely don't believe she should be guilty for the success of her and her lineage! However, because its her choice to *publicize* it, I still do believe its her responsibility to show her privilege beforehand. Yes, its was not in her control to grow up privileged, but its her choice to put it out to the world, and it could genuinely trigger or depress someone upon realization on how bad they are struggling, and how much better their life could've been if they had the same privileges growing up that she has had. Of course nobody should compare their lives to others, but sometimes, for some people, It just cant be helped. Everyone's feelings are valid, but as soon as things as such are chosen to be publicized, I really believe its in their responsibility to think of those around them. :^)
Genos West I’m sorry but being “triggered” because someone else had better privileges than you is just a nice way of saying they’re envious. She’s a grown woman who has a career and chose to give some tips that a lot of people could find useful, even if not all the tips can apply to you it’s still useful for those who do. Financial advisors and life coaches do the same exact things but they don’t have to apologize or be responsible for someone else’s envy because they’re literally just sharing information they see as beneficial to others and if you know it doesn’t apply to you then disregard the information, not get depressed because it doesn’t. The level of entitlement to feel like she is responsible for those feelings because she posted a video on HER channel that she has the 100% right to and people decided to click it knowing their situation isn’t the same is ridiculous. I’m kind of sick of people thinking just because something makes them uncomfortable everyone around them has to accommodate that, they literally don’t. She was nice enough to and that’s great of her, but to make her feel as though she has a responsibility to is sick. You could literally google how much someone makes and if it makes you sad why look for it? Why even watch a video like this if it triggers you so much? Anyone stressed about finances is old enough to realize jealousy and that they don’t have to and shouldn’t expect to be catered to.
I get emotional when you talked about sponsorships like literally you are giving up your money for being honest with us i'm proud of you and if you are reading this know that i love youu

you totally should keep up with the sponsorships -- I don't know if you've been getting a lot of complaints but there's nothing wrong with getting sponsorships! you're also killing it!!
If your content is 10 + minutes on average then doing a 30-60 second ad each video is not sellout at all. I think it's smarter to gain partnerships with brands to open up more avenues down the road for you. If you post ads that aren't relevant to your brand, that's when it gains the "sellout" stigma.

I never understand why people get upset when youtubers get sponsorships, like personally I think if you genuinely like the product then I totally want to hear about it, I understand where your coming from Ashley but I think that for how amazing your videos are I can totally sit through a two minute clip about a product that you support 💖
I think that some youtubers may not like the sponsorship products themselves but may accept it only because of the popularity of it etc but I do appreciate when youtubers genuinely like the products they talk about and wholeheartedly recommend them to their viewers :3 jhu get me?
clarice ._.isnotokay yea I totally get it 💖
@@josiegrace7891
I think its when youtubers promote bad brands or so many people do the exact same brand deals
It's about transparency. If you're getting sponsored about a product, it brings up the question if you really like and also reccomend the product or are you just saying it because the company is paying you to? Would you say the bad aspects of the product or just the good things? Personally, I think it comes down to trust. I have to trust that even though you took the sponsorship you are going to speak freely, if you like/reccomend the product you'll tell me, if you dont like it/think its overpriced/cheap quality/bad shipping times/scam you'll tell me as well. Personally I trust Ashley to be straight with me, if she does ever choose to do sponsorships I trust her to stay her opinions and just her opinions.

i love that your disclaimer was 20 seconds and you said all that and other youtubers talk for 10 minutes 😇 BLESS UR SOUL
I wish more RUclipsrs would talk about the reality of earning money and how to start a business. Thanks Ashley, this really helped.
Idk why but that sounded sarcastic but I promise it isn't lol😂.
I'm turning 50 this year (still can't believe it) and I think you're wonderful and generous to share so much of your financial information with us. If it was more of an open topic of conversation, I think we'd all have a healthier relationship with and clearer understanding of the role of money in our lives. But somehow our value as people seems to depend a lot on not even how much money we make but what we decide to spend it on. And I can attest that at 50, my stress levels are lower than my friends and family who I see take on debt to look successful. I know they look at me as less successful in some ways, but I believe I (on the whole) feel more hopeful and energized about my future than most and a big part of that is because I think I view money like you do. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk haha! xo
Hi Ashley, just wanted to say how much I appreciate the amount of effort you put in your videos (and description). I've been binge watching your loookbooks lately and I really would love a doc martens styling video//wide leg coudory pant// styling colours (E.g navy green) videos ❤️❤️ love you from Sydney 🤗
ashley is honestly the most wholesome youtuber out there can she adopt me

Preeya Sharma thank you so much 😘😭 please subscribe
As a non native english speaker, I feel really proud of myself for understanding that disclaimer 😂 btw, don’t you EVER feel guilty for the money you’re earning with hard and honest work!
I thought my english was bad and then I understood the disclaimer directly the first time I listened to it, and then paused and thought "Yeah I'm a boss" (so thank you for that)
You do everything on your channel. Bake, be super fashionable, give life advice, financial advice, BE VIBES AF, and just be a hilarious person all the while. You are the only RUclipsr I watch because you’re the only one who does it all. Lol love you Ashley ❤️❤️
I REALLY wanna see a completed/ fully decorated apartment tour!!
Im not gonna lie.. your whole existence makes me feel bad about myself.. like its crazy how put together, successful, smart, self aware, hard working, fun, pretty... just in general cracked the code of life and doing so freaking well you are AT TWENTY FREAKING ONE like damnnnn how does it feel to be so superior 😭😭
Don't forget her editing skills are what you see first and foremost. Yeah, she's successful, but as with any youtuber, you're only seeing a glimpse of her life. If anything, take her videos as inspiration to try different things to achieve the life you want. Especially given the intro to this video, don't count her success as your failure.
Clover very good and respectful advice!
Okay, but can we just take a moment to appreciate how fucking smart, talented, artistic, genuine, and wholesome Ashley is? Definitely one of my top 5 favorite RUclipsrs
I worked at the Gap too!! Also never feel guilty about the money you make. You EARNED it and DESERVE it!!! Get that dough sis 🤠💖
Bianca J i also worked at Gap! I loved it :)
I think you're the best editor working in the game atm. Srsly you are so fast like how and its always so creative and zesty and pretty and fun Like how SIS....... you are so freaking good
What language were you speaking at the beginning? I love it! 😂😂
She was speaking James Charles
🤣❣️
Even though you grew up middle class and make money from RUclips at home, we can really see the hard work that you put into your videos that earns you said money and your appreciation for the value of money. You could easily spend hundreds of dollars on items of clothing because they look cool and you can afford to do so, instead you go thrifting and show those of us who cannot afford the expensive and trendy looks, how to make them yourself and work with what you have/can afford. So I genuinely appreciate your content and can't wait for you to post more!
