Some other artists that were mentioned in the song facts are worth checking out if you haven't already. "Oh Happy Day" by the Edwin Hawkins Singers is a really nice gospel-infused song and was a pretty big hit in the US. They also sang backup for a song by Melanie called "Candles in the Rain", a song about Woodstock. Delaney and Bonnie had a couple of great hit singles, my favorite of which is "Only You Know and I Know" (a cover version of the song originally recorded by Dave Mason). Billy Preston had several big hits in the early 70s, like "Nothing From Nothing", "Will It Go Round in Circles", and "Outa Space". He also played keyboard on the Beatles song "Get Back". And of course Peter Frampton was huge in the late middle 70s.
George also was involved in producing the Radh Krsna Temple album. One of the popular hits from that album was "Govinda" and got a lot of air play in the US.
Since you know Imagine, consider reacting to another Lennon song like Instant Karma or Power to the People. His song Whatever Gets You Thru the Night was a no. 1 hit.
Your videos are always so enjoyable, Daniel. :) This song makes me feel good even on a bad day. I'm a Paul McCartney fan, my daughter is a John Lennon fan, my son doesn't care about any of their work. :) Kind of the Goldilocks syndrome for us! :)
One of George Harrison's quotes when asked about the names of the Lord & God he used in his lyrics of this song, was “It does not matter what you call Him, just call Him” That quote helped me ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Another Quote, Spirituality does not come from organized religions, it comes from the search within ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
RIP, Alan White. Before joining Yes, White was asked to join The Plastic Ono Band by John Lennon and played drums on Lennon's "Imagine" and "Instant Karma". White's talents caught the attention of George Harrison, and played drums on Harrison's debut solo album, "All Things Must Pass". This appears on that album, and that is White playing drums.
A long time ago, on my 10th birthday, I got my first record player along with a paper bag full of second hand, jukebox records. They included My Sweet Lord along with The Beatles - Penny Lane, McCartney's Another Day & Ringo's It Don't Come Easy. the other 45's were No Matter What by Badfinger, Yellow River by Christie, Band of Gold by Freda Payne , You've Got Me Dangling on a String by Chairmen of the Board & Mony Mony by Tommy James & The Shondells. Back to My Sweet Lord, in the UK we had best of both worlds as What Is Life was on the B side!
Harrison asked long time Beatles collaborator keyboardist how to write a gospel song , which George wanted to do for his Krishna-ist faith , and this song is the result . A truly wonderful song with Harrisons great slide work .
Great song! Another great Harrison song is While My Guitar Gently Weeps! Later George teamed up with Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Bob Dillon, Roy Orbison in The Traveling Wilburys, worth a listen.
If you don't want to do Imagine then Crippled Inside and Jealous Guy off the Imagine album are great songs. Bryan Ferry realeased Jealous Guy, and it did very well, but I am very loyal to Lennon version.
Bobby Whitlock was a paart of this recording session of All Things Must Pass but he only singed on this song on the hallelujah harmony and it was just him and George.. He is still making new videos on You Tube, plus he was a big part of Derek and The Dominoes ..
Wow Daniel, I mean Dethstrok9! I haven't watched your channel in a while (sorry. Life, you know interrupts sometimes). Great to come back see you react to one of the ex-Beatles' songs! Stay safe. Cheers! 👍
Harrison was a big influence on me. Got e interested in India and i travelled there for mor than two years. Found mantras useful tools to view reality. Singing Hara Krishna always dispels gloom.
George did this song with the great Billy Preston who’s influence lead to the gospel sounding background. George’s own personal search for meaning and spirituality lead him to eastern philosophies. He added these chants or mantras to the chorus. Brilliant work. Ringo, John and Clapton all played on the All Things Must Pass album (1970). May I suggest everyone watch In The Material World: George Harrison on HBO. It explains the entire life of this great man.
Love this song, the whole album "All Things Must Pass" is great, the background was very interesting to hear, I never knew about the court case, its never good when music gets dragged through the courts, Great reaction.
George did write a simple song but that's what's exciting about music. You can write some thing so simple but yet so awesome. That comes from very talented people. George was singing about many different ways you can know God. George wrote a song called SomeThing . Frank Sinatra said it was the best love song ever written .

All great songs you mentioned.
Oh nice. Love this song. This album is excellent.
Great song! Love this ☺
He wrote this after hearing the gospel. Song “Oh, happy day”
George also was involved in producing the Radh Krsna Temple album. One of the popular hits from that album was "Govinda" and got a lot of air play in the US.
I bought this album when It came out! I was 17. Brings back memories.
Since you know Imagine, consider reacting to another Lennon song like Instant Karma or Power to the People. His song Whatever Gets You Thru the Night was a no. 1 hit.
Your videos are always so enjoyable, Daniel. :)
This song makes me feel good even on a bad day.
I'm a Paul McCartney fan, my daughter is a John Lennon fan, my son doesn't care about any of their work. :) Kind of the Goldilocks syndrome for us! :)
One of George Harrison's quotes when asked about the names of the Lord & God he used in his lyrics of this song, was “It does not matter what you call Him, just call Him” That quote helped me ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Another Quote, Spirituality does not come from organized religions, it comes from the search within ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
I always loved this song, it was fun to sing along with. Harrison was one of the best guitar players, even played lead on one of Eric Clapton's songs.
Its a religious chant fused with a pop sound. When you close your eyes it can become meditative which George was a fan of.
It didn't take long enough.....I hope he got to see... and is going with his sweet lord
Allen Klein was manager to both the Beatles and The Rolling Stones, he was able to gain control of the Stone’s entire sixties catalog.
Thank you for reacting to George Harrison!!!
Great song! Another great Harrison song is While My Guitar Gently Weeps! Later George teamed up with Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Bob Dillon, Roy Orbison in The Traveling Wilburys, worth a listen.
Universally, the “uhmmmm My Lord” makes every human close their eyes and feel it…most fight it, others just get that it is simplistic beauty and love.
All the beatles were amazing together and solo love this song
My Sweet George ❤️❤️❤️
It doesn't surprise me that each one of the Beatles had a number 1 hit song. Taking in the fact they had 2 of the BEST song writers in music history.
If you don't want to do Imagine then Crippled Inside and Jealous Guy off the Imagine album are great songs. Bryan Ferry realeased Jealous Guy, and it did very well, but I am very loyal to Lennon version.
One of John's still appropriate today: Gimme Some Truth ;-)
Such a relaxing dreamy song, John Lennon’s song #9 Dream has a similar dreamy feel to it, both beautiful songs
Loved your reaction, love this song 👍👍
George Harrison wrote some beautiful songs. My favourite is probably "While my guitar gently weeps"
Harrison saved much material over the years with the Beatles and so need to react to the whole album because it is so good!
Thank god this music lives on, yes
George was an extremely spiritual being as I’m sure you can tell
I think his b-day is feb 25 that's my b-day . Yeah! That makes me a Beatle tooo! ❤
Yeah!
