Procedure For Adding A Transponder Key:
1. Insert an existing programmed working chip key into the ignition cylinder.
2. Turn ignition to the ON position for 5 seconds, then back to OFF position.
3. Remove the existing key and within 5 seconds insert new key and turn it to the ON position for 5 seconds.
4. Turn key OFF, the key is now programmed. Start Car to test key.
I got a key with the Chevy logo from Amazon and I took my key to Autozone and with a little bit of convincing they try to cut my new key and successfully did for only 3$ and I came straight to your video and it worked! Thank you for the help man I appreciate it.
Nice! You're Welcome!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I had three keys to add, I followed the instructions and thought I would need to do the procedure for all three keys but all of them got programed at the same time. It literally took me 15 seconds to program them. Thanks again!
You're Welcome! Glad it helped!
Hello Sir, does this work for GMC savanna 2019?
I just tried this method on my 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche and it worked like a charm. I now have 3 keys programmed. Thank you!
You're Welcome!
Wow I can’t believe it was that easy!!
Bought my new key plus having it cut all for $25. Dealer wanted $75 for the key and $150 for programming!!
Now to do my new remote start fob…
The fob programming depends on the vehicle but all of our fob programming instructions can be found at www.ProgramYourRemote.com
Thank you for the simple instructions, I had a spare key cut at the local Lowe's (took some convincing but he agreed to do one) of they adviced they couldn't program the chip since it wasn't purchased from them. Guess what, thanks to you, I now have a spare key for my 2012 Acadia. Thank you.
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
2009 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT. Worked perfectly and I had an additional key programmed in 12 seconds. Cranked right up 👍
Nice!
Even though your website says the 2008 GMC Canyon does not have a chipped key, this worked to program the keys I bought off the web in about 2 minutes, and about $200 cheaper than the dealership
The website is correct that a 2008 Canyon does not use a transponder key. Since it's not a chipped key, it should have worked right after it was cut - this procedure has no effect on a non-transponder key.
Couldn’t remember this procedure, thank you.
Worked great programming 2 keys for my 2016 GMC!
You're Welcome!
Dude that was so easy! Thank gosh I found this video. The guy at Ace told me how to program the key but I forgot to ask him how long to keeep the key inthe ignition
Thank you! Best video I have found on programming my new keys and the time savings was great! I was going to use the 3x 10 minute wait process. This process worked perfectly for adding two keys and finished in 1 minute!
Car, 2015 jGMC Acadia with touch screen, went from having only one key/fob unit to Three!
Oddly, programming the fob required my Autel scanner. Procedures I found online did not work.
THANK YOU again!
Mr. P
You're welcome! Glad it helped
This procedure worked perfectly! Thanks so much!
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
Very nice. I just bought a 2012 tukon xl with only one key. Looking forward to trying this for the other 2 keys I bought
Thank you very much my daughter bought a new key and it come with some kind of 30.minute procedure that didn't work lol thanks again
You’re Welcome! Glad it helped
Took five tries but finally worked
Cool, glad you got it. Some vehicle are more sensitive than others.
Thank you that was a great video
You're Welcome!
Thank you! Saved both time and money!
Glad I could help!
AMAZING, I cannot believe it worked this simple... just have to program the fobs now
Yeah - the Add A key procedure is pretty simple
To bad you can't program the fob as simple... I just ordered the dorman thing that plugs into the obd2 port
Sweet! That worked Great! 2007.5 GMC Sierra 1500
Bro u are a freakin life saver lol thank you so much!!!!
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
This is helping a lot of people. Thank you
You're Welcome! Glad it helped!
Thanks a lot! Worked great!
You're Welcome!
Good to go. 1st video I watched, and worked like a charm. 1st try.
Glad it helped!
Awesome video- thank you!
You're Welcome!
So this didn't work for me, but i started the car for 10 seconds turned off put new cut key in and it worked.. BUT as soon as door was locked and then unlocked tried key in ignition nothing. Any thoughts?
Bro there is no way it’s this simple. I’m genuinely baffled.
Dude. You f&cking RULE! I’m sitting here in the Home Depot parking lot watched your video and I’m good to go, God bless you!
Glad it helped!
He uses God and the F-word in the same sentence. Thats disturbing!
Hi, I have a 2008 GMC Sierra. I got a new ignition key cut and went to programmed it like your video. Now it shows service theft detergent system. What should it do?
I have one original key and I had to key I pay to have it programmed it work to start the truck then it die. The antitheft system light keeps coming on with the keys I just had cut but not the original key it starts right up. Is there anything I can try?
Have you tried this procedure for the new key? if so, it sounds like there may be an issue with the key itself
This worked for me. Thanks.
You're Welcome!
I tried this today on my 08 duramax, it DID NOT work. Tried it multiple times. Any other suggestions? Is there a limit to the number of keys that can be programmed?
Thank you sir!
You are welcome!
Can i do this without erasing any kwys or do i jeed them all with me?
My 2 new cut keys does not turn in the ignition but it goes in and unlocks door any suggestions?
I got the key to work but how do I get the service theft deterrent system sign off
Is there a way to program a new key without a working key? We only have 1 key and it needs replaced
Thanks. Is the procedure the same if you have multiple keys?
yes
Immidiatly says 'service theft deterrend system" when inserting the second key.
I broke my key and drilled out the cylinder. How do I program the new one
does this work on the 2007 silverado classic?
This worked for a 2016 GMC Canyon in Canada. The stealership wanted $180 and an hour to "program it using their service department - not available to do for 3 days, lol, the clowns. My son did this in 20 seconds... so always challenge what the stealerships tell you. My Canyon has a key with chip and then a separate FOB. Worked so well the truck displayed a message saying "3 keys programmed". The second key is lost. Stealership said in Canada you need 2 original keys to do this and were 100% wrong.
Glad it worked but in my experience 2 working keys are required for the Canadian vehicles - Are you sure the vehicle was not built in the US?
@@PYR-Auto There is the real dealership problem. With the VIN number provided to get the key cut they knew where it was built. Thinking the customer would know the factory location and they not know is baffling. So they were either very uninformed about their own products they handle daily, were misleading, or both. Your video and tips were terrific and based on the other comments you ave helped a lot of people save time and money. Great website and videos!!
@@PYR-Auto So if your in Canada and only have 1 key, what do you do? And since Patrick says he’s in Canada, it would appear that’s not true? All GM trucks are US built, but it’s obvious if it’s a US truck as the speedo is in MPH. I doubt someone would import a Canyon either.
So this worked exactly the same way on my 13’ silverado 2500hd, that is Canadian 100%.
I used OE keys bought online, hardware store cut them using the key I had.
I did this parked facing the service bay doors at the GM dealership, just in case it didn’t work. That way I wouldn’t have to have it towed at all. I’m not sure who’s worse the stealerships or towing companies. They both rob you blind.
Thanks for the video bud.
It worked! Thanks.
You're welcome!
Thank you God bless.
You're Welcome!
U the man 🙏..it worked
Glad it helped!
Thank you!
You're Welcome!
Just tried on a 2017 gmc Yukon no luck
Thanks for the Video... big help! Now another question is How to Program the New Un-Programmed Key Fob to go along with the newly programmed Key on a 2014 - 2018 Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra... any direction on this?
Unfortunately there is no manual procedure to program the fobs on those years.
@@PYR-Auto
Thanks, appreciate you!
Will this work with 2015 GMC Yukon? I programmed one earlier but it turned out not good. We had to put the original key first before we can put 2nd (newly programmed) to start the car. Will need to revisit it again.
Yes - this should work on a 2015 Yukon.
Tried to program my new key from gmc did all steps and still has the car lock on!!
This was great, I quickly and easily programmed 2 keys to have spares. Used them both several times and then out of nowhere they stopped working completely! We were stuck at my son’s baseball game waiting for someone to bring us the original key. Any ideas why this happened? Can’t get them to re program either
If the original key still works fine, I would suspect an issue with the new keys. Where did you get the new keys, are they OEM or aftermarket?
Hello,
i need information about which transponder chip belongs in my car key.
The original GM number of the key is 23372322.
I had three keys copied, but the chip inside is missing. (aftermarket keys)
Sincerely yours
Hello Sir does this work for GMC savanna 2019
yes
Do I have to go to a automotive locksmith or a dealer? Or can I go to our local hardware store and them do it - they said that they could?
Yes, some hardware stores can cut them as well!
Very nice
Thanks!
I have a 2014 GMC Sierra of which I have the key already cut how do I program a key shell that supposedly doesn't have the transponder in it.
The words it's a key shell that has a piece of plastic that came along with it...
I’m exactly not sure what you mean but the transponder is the portion of the key that is programmed so if it doesnt have a transponder there nothing to program
I have 2 new cut keys and neither will work like this.. Any ideas?, the remote fobs work.. I have a 2010 GMC Acadia SLT..
Thanks Joe
Are you sure you have the correct transponder keys, where did you get them?
I just bought a new key it turns right away my old key has hard time turning I got a 2007 gmc Serra
Have lost only working key for 2012 GMC Acadia so would need to start from scratch. Can you possibly lend a hand, thank you kindly
You can find that video here ruclips.net/video/D0y5ETNav44/видео.html
If anyone is having trouble double check the new key has a transponder. Many ppl are selling fake transponder keys online.
Good Tip!
How do you double check the NEW key?
2010 GMC Yukon. When I do exactly as the video show I get a "Service Theft Deterrent System" message and the new key doesn't work. Any ideas?
If you have tried a few times and are following the video closely there may be an issue with the key you are using.
Have spare key the process did not work
Hey, I just checked the website and it says mine does not have a chip, but in Canada, the 2009 GMC Canyon uses PK3+. Will this process work for my truck? PS I sent email as well.
Yes, Canadian built vehicles are different. You need 2 working keys in order to be able to program a new one yourself.
My security light is not going out
0:24
I have a cut key that’s doesn’t have a chip and no already programmed keys bc I lost them both! How do I program the key chip key?
What vehicle are programming them into?
He has a newer videos takes about 30-35 mins to program it
Not working for me what could be the problem?
I wish I could say it worked but I can't. I have a working key. I tried several times. There was a security light that came on with a dismiss option in the center and a small lock with a ring on the right side. I could dismiss the center light but the new keys did not work.
I'm having the exact same issue. He will tell you it's likely the key. What I want to know is how can you test a key to see if its a good key. My key has no marking on the black part and only a + sign with a circle around it on the base of the key.
Exact same issue here, too
My original key is broken is there a way to still program it
Not with this procedure but there may still be a way depending on your vehicle. You can check that www.programautokeys.com/classified/buick-make-522.aspx
I did exactly what the video explained. However, each time I tried the NEW key the "Theft Deterrent" light came on, and the Amber theft deterrent symbol would NOT go away or would blink. I did this before and it worked great (2 years ago).
Same for me - 2019 gmc sierra elevation
Same issue for me on my 2007 Silverado
Same, 2008 Gmc Yukon xl
I think I figured it folks. The vehicle has had to many keys programed over the years. Go and do the 30 minute delet and reprogram procedure. Then reprogram your deleted keys. Worked for me
Anyone else try the delete and reprogram? I'm having the same issue
I lost my program key. Can you take me step by step on what to do?
check out www.ProgramAutoKeys.com
That’s it???? Remember it being all like oh you have to close this window left signal light four ways turn on put into neutral roll window up turn flashers off back to park then it activated dealership copy mode, at it still being a pain.
thank tou
You're Welcome!
Does it work on 08 silverado
Yes it does
What about 2004?
you can check your specific vehicle here www.ProgramAutoKeys.com
My key doesn’t work, I tried it and key won’t program, new remote programed
If you are following the procedure closely with no success, there could be an issue with the key you are using
How to add with no key
depends the vehicle. You can check yours here www.ProgramAutoKeys.com
Great video..Thank for your help🙏🏼

So this didn't work for me, but i started the car for 10 seconds turned off put new cut key in and it worked.. BUT as soon as door was locked and then unlocked tried key in ignition nothing. Any thoughts?
not sure on that sorry
I lost my original key to my 2010 GMC Acadia and had to have a new one cut with the code. I found my original key and it will only open the door. How can I program it to start the car again.
This procedure should do that
Does that work for a 2008 gmc savana 2500?
Yes, it should
Ok I don't know what's going on with this. I followed the programming, couldn't get the keys to program. Then, out of the blue they programmed all three keys were working starts the truck. Then I was going to program the fobs. Turned the key on and was trying to figure out how to program the fobs. Battery was getting low, so I go to start the truck. All three keys aren't working. I'm confused, they were working just two seconds ago??? Any suggestions?? Thanks 2012 gmc Sierra sle 5.3
Ok, this is insanity. I was just sitting here in the truck without the key in the ignition for 20 mins or so and then tried starting the truck again. The key worked, then tried the other two and both worked, is my truck possessed?? Should I call James Woods??
That is very strange, I've never heard of that happening before. Sounds like there could be issues beyond the keys and fobs.
I'm thinking my positive battery cable might be an issue. I've replaced the negative cable. I've been reading allot about bad cables causing all kinds of problems.
@@johnwahlers3363 so you have a weak battery and bad battery cables?
I'm not sure what's going on. Definitely something electrical. I changed the negative battery cable and nothing changed. I still have to do the positive to the starter. So we'll see if that helps.
