I've been a Patreon for some years now and one of the reasons is the wonderful way you document your travels. Classic editing, killer music, great narrating, excellent content, brother you got it all. Congratulations on an epic journey and now the final leg begins. Will you proceed towards Seattle or deviate out to Hawaii, up to Alaska then down the western coast of Canada ? An epic adventure I watched Ran sailing do. I know all directions are open to you and you always choose wisely. Great episode. Be well my friends.
Thanks so much for that, your kind words mean more than you could possibly realize! Right now we're just taking it as it comes, which means our plans are really pretty loose. Just gonna head to the Sea of Cortez for the hurricane season and take it from there but a South Pacific loop or jaunt to PNW via Hawaii are both on our radar :)
Since there are only a few dozen comments, I will make one of my own very rare comments. In 1970 I made my first Pan Canal transit. I made a few more that year and 8 the following year. I was fishing on San Diego-based tuna purse seiners in the Pacific and unloading in Puerto Rico. We had just landed a man on the moon the year before. As awe inspiring as it was to “take a huge step for mankind”, my thoughts were that it was every bit an accomplishment to build this magnificent project in the early part of that same century. As a Vietnam War vet, I was quite anti-war minded, but nonetheless prideful of what good can be done in the cause of world trade and travel. I fished commercially on large tuna boats for the remainder of the 70s and made dozens more transits through this modern world wonder, and never lost my amazement for what was accomplished between 1903 and 1914 in Panama.
Top Notch Documentary! This retired teacher is tripping on that "floaty-buzzed-educated-high" feeling! Can't believe how GOOD these two Pan Can episodes are. But I have to, I just watched them back-to-back. Thanks DeLos & Crew! !
Thanks SV Delos family. I just want to say "thanks" because you guys can share freedom , happiness with a viewer in every videos. I'm from Burma , a country that had been under Military Coup. All of times , it likes living inside pressure cooker. COVID , COUP , we don't know when these nightmares will be ended. I just got temporary release while watching your videos. Thanks guys and Be safe! With love from Burma.
Captain, your voice-over historical storytelling is Paul Harvey worthy, providing "the rest of the story." As I watched, I thought of all the stories you have provided for others to share. Delos is an open book to the world. Welcome to the Pacific; turn the page. 🌎
Excellent job giving everyone a true Panama Canal transit experience! I've been through a number of times and am always blown away. Love to see how others experience it. Thank you
This mini-doc series was phenominal. The history bits are so intruging I hope that people will be compelled to dig deeper into the amazing feat that is the Panama Canal. Great camera work by Jordan. Fanatastic crew and smooth operation. Lovin' you, Delos. Lovin' you.
You did a great job on the history and difficulty of building the Panama Canal, anything you do is top notch! I've been following you for years and you never disappoint! My wife and I and friends did that 15-20 years ago on a cruise ship that was 20 feet shorter than the locks and 4 feet narrower! We touched the side of the locks with our hands, the "donkey" operators were great. The howler monkeys were Loud! I was totally amazed at the small amount of water that seeped through the locks when they were closed! Thanks for taking us along, it was good to see how much the little nugget has grown. I hope to be able to see her grow through the years! I'm 78 and had a stroke so how much longer I'll be around is unknown, but in the mean time, I'll be watching and enjoying your videos, thanks.
Know you been in the Pacific for some time now (Watched the live stream from panama canal, awesome, do more live) but I actually cried today because you reached the sea where it started and looking back I was humbled by the journey you have made. Love you and thankyou for sharing your life with me and all else watching. XOXO From Sweden
You all inspire viewers in so many different ways, thank you for being just the way you all are, simple, fun, smart and make us feel like a big close family!!! Nugget is growing so fast and her laughter is sooo contagious, super cute and cool!!!
I found Delos 4 months ago. Great job capturing parts of your daily life and sharing it with the world. I enjoy reading everyones posts and watching your travels weekly. I grew up on a sailboat in Shalimar, FL and had the opportunity to sail the Gulf of Mexico for many years.I'm now 46 married with two children 14 and 16. I would love to show my family the world just as you have. I grew up on a monohull but turned catamaran lover. Looking at a Lagoon 50 to start my travels located in the BVI's. Seems like a god place to start.
My husband and I just adore your family! We have been huge fans. We were looking forward to these videos since we had watched the live stream. Brian, when are you guys going to be selling the sun shirt with the hood you are wearing???? I need it, lol!
I'm surprised at how exciting this actually is for me! I live more vicariously through your epic journey than I realized! Safe travels, and I'm looking forward to your Pacific journey.
Started watching years ago, inspired me to buy and learn to sail my 1972 islander mkii. Now watching these past weeks I'm inspired to head down the Mississippi. Long story short you're inspiring...
I really dig the vibe Jordan brings to Delos, it's great to see her back. You can feel her energy in the edit of these last two videos, hope she is planning to hang around a little while.
That is so cool!!!! Congrats on a safe and fun-looking journey. So happy to see Jordan again. I am glad she will be sailing with you for a bit longer! I miss seeing her!
This was so well done. The clips, writing, editing and narration are as good as any doc I’ve seen. Breeawn is a real educator. Not just with the facts like in this show, but in the thoughtful and patient way he teaches the crew - and us - as a captain. I fear it’s all coming to an end with the circumnavigation complete. I hope not. The Trautmans are necessary.
Wow! Super emotional and joyful for you all! Back in the waters where this all started and where you fell in love! Amazing and thank you for sharing your lives ❤️ Hugs/love to everyone!!!⛵️
You guys are an inspiration! I'm sailing for the first time abroad in the Baltic in a few weeks and these two Panama videos really got me in the sailing mood 😊
This was another great episode sharing the second half of your canal transit. Nice job to the whole crew for a safe and successful passage! We too swam in Gatun Lake during our transit, and our line handlers also warned us about the crocodiles-I'm grateful that there were no encounters for any of us! Thank you for sharing your wonderful adventure with all of us!
Absolutely incredible video! One of the very best ever. To see the love, comadarie, support and more with everyone on board Delos as you all went through a very monumental experience you will all never forget made me cry. Thank you so much for sharing your passing through the canal! Fair winds Delos and safe travels. 🙏💖⛵️
Amazing video, Delos! I have always wondered what the Panama Canal was like, and have always been fascinated by the large ocean vessels which we sometimes saw when us "land-rats" were in ports in Europe. To see them so close up, and to live the Canal experience with you and the great crew was really mind-boggling. And, on a larger scale, a compliment to you, Kazza and Brian, for maintaining this great channel throughout the years. Every video is different, and every video is worth watching. I do not get tired of them. What I have been wondering about is when are you going to pay Europe a visit? I am sure you could meet so many Delos friends who have been following you throughout the years if you made a tour of the European coasts! Seeing you guys in the ports of, say, England, France, Holland, Germany, Denmark and Sweden would be such a blast! Perhaps Kazza will one day get so home-sick that this can become reality 🙂! Thanks, Delos, for lifting us out of our daily lives with these great episodes every week.
Okay- you guys are the coolest. I learned about the Panama Canal of course in school but honestly- never retained any of the info. I had no idea it was this complicated, or the history behind it. I also didn’t know it was one of the 7 wonders of the world either. As soon as I finished both episodes, I did my own research on the Panama Canal and learned so much! It’s very interesting and the history is super cool. Thanks for this awesome footage!
Thank you for being the guided inspiration to share history, adventure & the moxie to follow the dream! Without your videos I am not sure I would have found my love for sailing. Blessed beyond belief to know souls like you guys that dare the possible & impossible❤️💪🏼 One of these days I will grow from my training wheels of Beaver Lake 1977 Ericson 29T to the salt life🙌🏼 Thank you for inspiring me to challenge this grapevine land tractor operator to cross the boundary to the waters of the unknown! Keep going and I hope one day to see you all out there❤️⛵️🥂🍷
I just came across your video and loved watching you all on your journey of a life time. I have travelled through the canal 4 times each way while working on a few different ships, However I enjoyed your trip a lot more especially as all the crew and especially the Captain and your wife and delightful full of life Daughter really enjoyed the first part of the trip. You all look so happy and so blooming healthy and full of energy that I must watch and enjoy the rest of your travels. Thank you all so much for allowing me to enjoy your trip with you. Regards. John Edwards
Your wonderful voice over never gets old Brian. Thanks for the history. And thanks sooo much for a longer video. Goad bless and see travels. I'm getting more and more excited to see what adventures ly ahead!
Delos crew, that was by far the best documentary not only of your own fascinating transit but also a superb account of the history & tragedy that built this amazing feat of 20th century engineering, more than worthy of screening on any mainstream tv channel world wide, Surely you can sell this on and seriously top up the rum fund , brilliant stuff, fair winds
I was just thinking as Delos entered the Pacific Ocean once more, that somewhere back in the midst of this fantastic journey, little Sierra joined the adventure. She makes the circumnavigation seem extra special. Wishing you many more happy days of sailing adventures!
Your presentation of the building of the Panama Canal in this episode and Pt 1 was documentary award winning content. Excellent work and presentation of an amazing engineering feat. While it is a wonder of the world it also was built at the expense of many lives and it is good that you preserved the memory of those who gave their lives. All the best to you in your Pacific travels.
Fabulous program Brian and Kaza , please continue to teach me about our world . As good a documentary as I’ve ever experienced . Thankyou ,peace fellow babies.
Thank you for this wonderful history lesson and documentary. Your videos are so polished, by far one of the best ones on this platform. Can’t wait to see the sailing from Panama to Mexico and further up the coastline.
Great narrative, Bryan. Must feel so surreal. A geographic closing of a nautical circumnavigation of the globe and, a huge chapter in your lives. Made me proud, as a subscriber, to have been virtually onboard since the beginning. Congratulations!
I know it's lame, but honestly this channel has inspired me to trick out my humble canoe so I can effortlessly enjoy being on any body of water whenever I want ❤ we're talkin electric trolling motor with solar power, i just built my own outrigger... I've seen modifications to be able to add a sail... that's next on the list 😇
Love the documentary style. This was very interesting, and fun to watch. You guys have been one of my favorite channels for several years now. You never disappoint.
Great catch up, you looked so happy to reach the Pacific. Interesting learning about the history of the Canal. All those deaths, so sad. Looking forward to next week and take care 😍
I'm so excited for you guys!!! Followed you around the world a couple of times and lived vicariously through you and your awesome adventures. Congratulations on your circumnavigation!!
It’s absolutely amazing and insane what these people went through… my god, we take so much for granted…. We didn’t have a fraction of the resources back then & these brave souls just kept on - it’s crazy, and definitely a bog wonder of the world !
Captain Brian. Many congratulations on your first circumnavigation of the globe. It's just a shame that Brady couldn't have joined you for the last leg of the trip, seeing that he was with you at the start, before you crossed the Pacific. I only found Sailing SV Delos last October, whilst looking for another sailing channel to follow, having started the previous year with Sailing Doodles. Having found Delos, I then went back and started from the beginning. I have really enjoyed the way your videos have improved over the years you've been putting out content, starting with just pictures and then including the drones and the music and the various additions to the Delos Crew; especially Kiril and Lisa and more recently, Taylor. It would be great to see some of the old faces back on-board Delos, if only for a few weeks. The most enjoyable bits, have been your Underwater Photography, wherever you got the chance to film. Some very memorable moments along the way, especially your visits to the Chagos Islands; Ascension Island and St. Helena. You left Seattle a single man and returned to the Pacific a married man with a daughter. Both Karin and Sierra are a credit to you and I look forward to following all of you for many more years to come. It's just a shame you couldn't fit in a trip to Europe and the Mediterranean, especially after Sierra was born. Yes, I know Brady and Blue crossed the Atlantic on their own, whilst you and Kazza were in Sweden, but I don't consider the Canaries or Azores to be Europe. In celebration of your return to the Pacific, I'm going to 'Buy You a Beer'. In fact, several beers. Enjoy your future life and future travels. Cheers.
I'd never have researched the fascinating story about how the canal was imagined, designed, redesigned and eventually built. G*d rest the souls who perished in the effort. Thank you for bringing us the short form in an enjoyable vid. And? having just finished a dermatology appointment, I'm glad to see are all wisely protecting yourselves; )
Hi Guys..All of the aspects of your videos have captivated me. The vidieos are articulate and charming. Your story is told intelligently, humanely and with a personal transperany, Kudos to all on the team! I love your adventure.
More amazing historical footage! These have been like a little history lesson for our kids. Congrats to you and your editors or whoever mined (no pun intended...) this from some archives!
Made canal transit 1967 on USCGC Southwind (W-280) destination Antarctica, then West to East in 1968 back to Baltimore, MD. Still have photos and memories. Very much enjoy your adventures.having been a subscriber for more than two years. Great family, great friends along the way......
Your adventure is always fun and entertaining to watch. This one and last weeks are all of that plus the most educational videos ever. A great time shared by all of us. Thanks so much.
Videos last week and today were fabulous! So educational. It’s obvious it took much more work than usual to put it together. Have a wonderful, safe time in the Pacific.
Wow Brian, you are definitely on top. Kaza looks so beautiful and Jordan looks beautiful and happy. Everyone did such a great job. But more so, what a celebration, back in the Pacific after all this time. Not far from where you left from Mexico. Congradulations ! Can't wait to see your celebration continue in Pacific Panama.
That's history you are revealing to us my friend.thank you for the nice trivia of the canal. It's a very good experience to pass through Panama canal..
Thanks so much guys for sharing this amazing journey and history of the Panama Canal. I love all your videos and you’re been the inspiration for me to own my own 36’ Catalina today. Cheers 🍻
I was wondering if this was the first time going through the canal for you guys (crew included)? Having watched several other channels of crews going through, each equally filled with excitement and anticipation, I found your video very informative as well as the great reaction of the crew. Cannot wait to see what's in store for you guys! Safe travels!
The heat and sun going through the canal are my most lasting memory of transiting also going east to west many moons ago now the real adventure begins looking forward to next week.
Excellent re-edit. Like watching a new crossing of the Canal. All I have done is to fly over or stop next to it at the Airport on LAB in old aircraft that don't pressurize because they have popped too many rivets going up and down the Andes. Good to see the crew and happy faces! Nugget is always a winner! Uncle Ben
I SO enjoy your video’s and wish I could afford to contribute but it is what it is right? You Folks are my number one choice and next is Zatara. Following the adventures of SV Delos has been a treat because you provide history at every place you visit thus making your video’s enjoyable and informational. A job well done, thank you. By-the-way, your view from Delos deck to the sky was unique and reminds me when I was a kid laying in the park looking at the clouds.
For those interested in learning more about the epic history of the canal, look up "The Path Between the Seas", by David McCullough. This canal nearly bankrupted the entire country of France before it was taken over by the United States. Even with the industrial might of the US, it was absolutely no picnic. In 2012, my wife and I, along with my in-laws transited the canal. I read McCullough's book before we went, and I am super glad I did. It made the transit SO much more meaningful. Even if you're not planning to transit the canal, the story is just incredible.
Used to fish for peacock bass in Gatun lake 1973-76. Used small open boats with 15 hp outboards. You are lucky you did not experience one of the fierce thunder storms that sweep over the lake. The 30 knot gusts can whip up 3 ft waves, with hellacious lightning. Never did see crocodiles back then.
The first time I watched video sv delos was ep 18 and I watched all videos until today, I follow a little bit of your life, I just wish peace, happiness and health, God take care of your paths always.
Amazing.....Lots of Loss there in the Panama Canal WOW ....BUT Not one of those people lost their life in Vain.... The Panama Canal is a Very important part of this WHOLE World....Every time I watch a Story about the canal it Blows my mind again THANKS for Sharing 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Congratulations! Enjoyed watching the SV Delos transit the Panama Canal and thank you for the historical background on the canal. Very interesting. Cheers!!
Being on a fixed income (why's it called that when I'm always broke?), I can't do Patreon, but I've been subbed since the Solomons and have enjoyed every nm. Thanks for yet another increasingly excellent episode. I eagerly await your Pacific hijinks. Fair winds and following (but not over the transom) seas.
Thank you for providing such a terrific show and letting us follow your adventure! I'm presently living in the Philippines, but I grew-up at Alki Beach in West Seattle. I have a question; what did your family and crew use to ward-off mosquitoes and disease in Panama and in the canal? In Canada I've seen clouds of mosquitoes forming a shell over fishermen, just waiting for the Deet to wear off.
I took a Transcanal cruise (Acapulco to Miami on Princess) back in the early 2010's and had a balcony cabin. As we reached the last gate on the Caribbean side and were lowering down, the top of the canal wall happened to come into arm's reach for me. I touched it and took a quick picture. I swear, what had been an obviously interesting cruise up until that point, became an event for me with that touch. It's as if I suddenly felt the whole project, work, sacrifice, and the majesty of it all become real - not just an interesting waterway. To date, it is still one of my most impressive travelling moments of my life far outdoing the beauty of Alaska, the fun in the Caribbean, or the histories of European ports of calls.
I've been a Patreon for some years now and one of the reasons is the wonderful way you document your travels. Great narrative, Bryan. Must feel so surreal. A geographic closing of a nautical circumnavigation of the globe and, a huge chapter in your lives.
Made me proud, as a subscriber, to have been virtually onboard since the beginning.
Congratulations!
Wow - the shot at 13:56 seems so relaxed, yet there's an underlying sense of focus. Great episode, Delos!
I too went through the Panama Canal it took one day but all day, 1976. Out of this world, enjoy your onward journey through the pacific RV
Great catch up, you looked so happy to reach the Pacific. Interesting learning about the history of the Canal. All those deaths, so sad. Looking forward to next week and take care 😍
Loved seeing a smiling Jordan on the boat!! 🎉❤️🩹🇺🇸☮️
I'm so excited for you guys!!! Followed you around the world a couple of times and lived vicariously through you and your awesome adventures. Congratulations on your circumnavigation!!
Wow! What an adventure, what an accomplishment! Thanks for taking us along SV Delos!
It’s absolutely amazing and insane what these people went through… my god, we take so much for granted…. We didn’t have a fraction of the resources back then & these brave souls just kept on - it’s crazy, and definitely a bog wonder of the world !
I really enjoyed all the information you gave out about all the construction details of the making of the Panama Canal. Thanks very much!
Thank you! You are the only channel I never miss, skip, or fail to enjoy. Love the progression of the channel over the years. ❤
@Sailing SV Delos looks like someone is trying to scam me in your name. Love you guys!
Hi Guys..All of the aspects of your videos have captivated me. The vidieos are articulate and charming. Your story is told intelligently, humanely and with a personal transperany, Kudos to all on the team! I love your adventure.
You guys are amazing. I'm looking forward to sail away to the pacific with you all. Thank you for sharing your stories!!
The intro song never gets boring after all these episodes well done guys
Ice Cream welcomes SV Delos to la Pacifica. Bienvinedos. Salud dinero y amor.
That's history you are revealing to us my friend.thank you for the nice trivia of the canal.
It's a very good experience to pass through Panama canal..
Bro, your voice is so smoothing. It reminds me a lot of a dispatcher I worked with that, no matter how bad it got, was always a calming voice.
So good Brian. You tell such a good story. Welcome to the Pacific Ocean hope to see you back in New Zealand some day.
What a blast! Great times transiting the canal with you and excellent job capturing the fun!
Uncle Ben
Boy, Jordan just keeps getting better and better looking!!
That was awesome been over thirty years since Ive been in the Canal zone, nice to see it again, thanks.
Long time subscriber ; first time commenting. Awesome to take us on the journey to the P.C. Thanks.
Nice to see Jordan back on the water….great episode.
Thank you for the tip. Going out to Amazon now to look it up.
Congrats Delos and thanks for sharing this epic leg of the journey! Exceptional work!
That was an awesome double ep! Thanks for sharing and the learning stuff. Cheers Delos and crew!
Brian’s definitely got a career in TV , excellent narrator .
Editing and music were top notch. Content was excellent as well. Keep it up! Congrats on the passage.
Thank you for a fantastic video. I felt like I was part of the dream. As for the shirts…..I’ll take one or two of each!! Fair winds friends!
Goosebumps guys!! Whoop whoop! Thank you for sharing 😛🤓😊
Once again Brian you have made this video so incredibly interesting, thank you for all the information 🇬🇧
This is better than TV, ao informative.
That’s a great history/ engineering lesson Bryan. Thanks for doing it!
Great video, Safe travels on the Pacific. I will be impatiently waiting for next Friday.🥃🥃💨💨💨
Fantastic experience and so well documented. Thank you!!!
