- This action sequence score by Gerald Fried was use numerous times during Season 2 of TOS. When you really look at the notes, it's pretty astounding these LA studio players were so "tight" for those upbeat 16th note staccato parts. Just spot on.
I can’t read music at all but found that very interesting. Star Trek was blessed by many fine artists who learned their skills in the ‘Old Days’ of Hollywood. They gave the show a look, sound and feel many times that of its budget. Lucky us.
Indeed!
This score is one of the main reasons I like Friday's Child. Quiet and slow for the pregnant wife and then so abruptly fast and violent for the fight scenes. Fried and his crew did an incredible job capturing the tension and tempo of the story.
Fascinating!
Really in the pocket. Wonder how many takes that actually took?
Right? I would guess not many. The recording session was July 7, 1967 and they had 24:13 worth of music to track in what would typically be a 3 hour (minimum) session! With Fried conducting, I imagine he would have been prepared to make it as time-efficient as possible. And these were probably players who worked with the LA Phil in their "off time" LoL
