One day, I shall dedicate an hour to doing something more useful like finishing an upper atmosphere probe.
But not this day. This day I shall watch trains.

Amy what's the progress of the probe?

***** Finished a year ago. It flew to 110k feet and recorded barometric pressure and temperature as well as U.V. index. If our team ever gets their hands on a high altitude rocket, that is the next challenge.

Hundreds of millions have been used to build secured crossings the last ten years, not only on Bergensbanen but most railways in Norway.

Took this trip last week. Nice to take it again with abbreviated tunnels. We didn't know we were going to ride a subway. It was great fun, anyway!

I had the chance to take the train between Oslo and Bergen. It was a fantastic trip across Norway of 7 hours. It was incredible !

Simply beautiful. Other than the fixed camera in the cab there were only 2 requirements to make this stunning pictorial. 1. The sunshine - this was summer and that changes. 2. The scenery - this will never change. I've never wanted to travel (though have had to do) but strangely have always wanted to visit Norway. This will swing it. God Bless the Norwegians, an ordered but somewhat relaxed peoples.

One thing I noticed was the lack of trash anywhere. I had just watched some Indian train videos and the trash strewn everywhere was unbelievable. Obviously, the Norwegian people have a lot more pride in their environment.

At the fastest points (which is in the area around Finse Station on the Hardarngervidda) I believe the trains moves at 160 Km/h

It took me a while to figure out why various countries on the European continent operate their train travel in the manner that they do. The trains lack any identification and run strictly on time. Why is this the case ? Because it keeps travelers on their toes and at the ready at all times. Thus, it prevents folks from wandering aimlessly around and it also eliminates late stragglers from gumming up the train schedules.. What can I say, It works. The trains ran right on time and if travelers could not figure out which train to board or be on time , too bad. In short, as a train traveler, you've got two choices : either get your act together or get left behind,. Period.

incrível como eles aproveitam bem os espaços
talvez porque seja um país pequeno
it´s a surprise for me, the way that they make good use of area
there´s no waste of area, maybe cause is a little country

I'm assuming this was an NSB Class-73 train. Though it's not until it stops at Dale that I realize this must be a pretty long train as the engineer overshot the Dale platform. Any info on the train, it's length, it scheduled departure would be appreciated.
I'm mesmerized by the coastal scenery - very much like it is here on west coast of Canada - spectacular.

  • @NumberZeroZeroSix

    That was great.
I noticed most of the road crossings were gated and there were many overpasses. I didn't hear the engineer ever blowing his horn. Are there non-gated crossings on this route? Do they blow horns at non-gated crossings? Here in the U.S. at gated crossings and non-gated they blow their horns.
Also, I noticed the go signals were flashing. I suppose this is to help the engineer notice them from the background. Ours are usually solid.

Great upload thanks! Very relaxing to watch. I downloaded the smaller version of this when it was first made available, and it was in lower quality. So its brilliant to be able to stream a higher quality version that also has no annoying tunnels! Pity youtube doesn't yet have a fastforwards/slow-motion options

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Outstanding results and thanks for all the work you put into this. One small personal preference, let the video run all the way into the tunnel and then cut to the exit of the tunnel. It felt a little jumpy. That's a small thing in an excellent video. Thanks.

Is there just 1 train driver in Norway? Does he never talk to dispatchers? In Russia there is a driver and an assistant on most trains, and they have to announce the green/red lights aloud and talk to dispatchers rather often.
