For example, recently i was watching Gabriele/Matus & also Armen&Svetlana (now not anymore Svetlana but some other girl); they are do overperfect and so over-athletical, although they are best guys on the field today. Like Donnie said in Bad Harzburg ‘94: drinkin granini running in the morning, we’re sportsmen? We’re so overwhelmed wanting to win competitions do that we dont know who we are anymore?! I would like to see somebody today brave enough to perform raw pure and simple yet sophisticated dance ... cmon guys who will do it ?
This is my favourite time in Latin Dance, 1993-1999, when Donnie started to perform something incredible, out of this world. Today’s best dancers look too afraid to perform real dancing, they just employ most optimal gymnastic formula to win competitions. Too sad
Donny and Gaynor were fabulous performers and well deserving of their reputation. Their time however was almost 30 years ago and their style of performance, amazing as it was, was based on the styles of that time. Expectations from athletes (and yes, today's Latin and Ballroom performers are considered elite athletes) have risen. It is now referred to as Dancesport. Not everyone may appreciate the evolution of dancing but, as with everything else, we all must move with the change. You now have performers such as Riccardo Cocchi and Yulia Zagoruychenko, who have recently retired from competitive Dancesport, undefeated, with almost two decades worth of world titles to their credit. A small sample of their performance: ruclips.net/video/1IJKhsyB_cc/видео.html

Donny and Gaynor were the primary coaches that enabled Ricardo and Julia Toonen all of those world championships
@@gailjacobson7088agree. You can see Donny and Gaynor’s influence. Fabulous it is too!
They were the best in the world for years. Then came the damn Russians.

Ezt láttam élőben. Lehengerlő energiával táncoltak. Utána a rumbájuk se volt semmi. Lenyűgözve néztem.
