I have this to do and I was trying to figure out how to reseal the hole I was going to make. Your video is going to save me a lot of time and trouble. Thanks for making the video.
Perfect! My 2004 explorer is still running great, but the air is so bad. The air must have been so clean back when the designer decided to leave out the filter.
Worked on my 2002 Ford Explorer. It was easier for me to get the pin lined up with the filter when the filter was not in the Max AC position. Bought a filter as suggested. Thanks!
Thanks much for the video. I wonder does the door have to hang down the whole time? Because when i turn on the ac and change the dial from max to normal it doesn't move.
Awesome video man, and beautiful ford collection ya got goin there! Pretty sure I have the same problem. Was just wondering if it would be easier to access the door with the blower out? Not sure if it’s open enough to get your hand in from below… Also, did u find the filter restricting air flow at all? Was wondering if the blend door can fully open with the filter in place.
Never took the blower out, but you can try and see if it helps you. No restriction from the filter and yes the door fully opens and closes with the filter in place.
you helped me find my problem...but for the life of me I just can't feel the cam you speak of....my hand can barely navigate within the space shouldn't I be able to see it with a flashlight? I;m stumped and stuck now
Oh it's a bear to get to it and you have to go by feel just about. Did you take the other items out of the way? It will help access greatly. But there isn't an easy way to get to it (short of pulling dash out), than what I show in my vid. Keep at it, you'll get it!
@@98saleen i do need to remove that metal bracket to get more access like you suggest. But when you reach there behind the actuator, out of frame is where you're placing your fingers to locate the cam. is there some diagram out there (I've looked) that would help me see where I'm reaching for? I can't thank you enough for making this video.
For a temporary fix and to give you better air flow, simply pull the door out until you can repair it. The AC will still work but it will allow fresh air (outside) to enter.
@@98saleen it's not the scratches it's the can even reach in and upwards to place the flap 🤬🤦.. btw what would happen a/c or heat wise if the door was just left out completely.?
You can take the flap door off completely to ensure you have proper air flow out of your vents. It it falls down, you will have limited airflow. The reason for this door is to have recirculated air which can keep inside cabin temps cooler during summer months. It also helps your defroster work properly.
This is wonderful information! I can't wait to fix mine. I'm so tired of the humid inside windows! Clean air filter is a bonus plan!

Great! Good luck!
Couldn’t tell if that was a LC9 or LCP. Thanks for making this vid I’m making mine just like this.
That would be my Taurus Slim model PT709 in 9mm flavor. It's a nice little carry pistol. I also daily carry a Springfield Armory XDS in 9mm.
I thought it was a S&W Shield!
Worked perfect as described in video on my 2003 Ford Explorer. Great idea on the filter too. Many thanks!!!
Sweet! Glad it helped!
Good stuff bud! Thank you for the info!!
Great video! Gonna do that to mine! The cold/hot temp knob has nothing to do with this door correct? This is the blend door for defrost or dash right?

Another great video on the Explorer. Very creative addding that cabin filter. You should work for Ford Motors
Haha! Hey it definitely helps make the interior smell better!
I have a 2003 XLT when I turn my key on I can hear the sound of a small vacuum pump running under the radio is that normal?
Great video thank you!

4:08, why does everyone remove that middle screw? It's holding the fan shroud below it, not the air box cover above it...
You nailed it. I was stumped about why as well.
SHAMWOW!

@@98saleen well done video!

@@98saleen precise, and to the point only thing I watch
Actuator /if you only have heat on one side, that would be your problem
I want to do this on my 2000. I haven’t found anyone who’s done that yet so it’ll be interesting.
I confirmed the door shaft broke and it was just laying down, i get ac until the engine warms up...any advice?

What size cabin air filter can I order for my 2003 Ford Explorer

i do not have the little cam sprocket-its not there. i cannot find a replacement-any idea's?
Try junkyard
thanks
Does this effect the heater at all
Not unless your door has fallen down and is blocking the air flow! Other than that, no it simply adds a filter to the air. Trust me, you need this!
What size cabin filter you use?
WIX 24784
Hello, can you tell me the part number of the cabin air filter.
It's listed in my description with a link to buy it.

You must have small hands. I loosened everything and cut the edges my hands are too big to even get in 🤦🤦🤦🤦
