**Runtime on High is NOT representative of the spec, and closer to two hours before it drops to the low setting.
**After some run time testing, the unit I have will run on medium for 7 hours (spec) and autodrop to low where it runs for about an hour more. Meanwhile, my original NU25 is still running on medium beyond 10 hours later (8 hour spec). The battery life is very much longer on the old NU25…

Thanks Kriz for this good review and demo.
I still have my old battery-powered headlamp that I've rarely used.
I'll consider this one as well.

Wow! They listened to people 😂
Seems that some were very passionate about the old style being better than the new one. They added some great features too. I may grab one! I like the white one for when I wear a white hat, which is frequent. Great video! Cheers!

I was a little bummed that it’s not available in white yet (that I could find). I find headlamps a bit cultish…people tend to center around a few favorites. We’ll see if this one gets any love. 🤣

Lack of sales will do that, eventually. Same thing happening in entertainment rn

I am so glad they updated the NU20 as the NU25 was not an upgrade for me. The 1lm red light is perfect when it is dark outside. Eyes got used to the darkness so 1lm red light is plenty to search for stuff in the rucksack or under the tarp. Any more and all you do is make your tarp or tent glow bright red. May not be an issue for some people but wild camping is illegal in Germany and even with a trap you may get kicked out of the forest if the forester or owner catches you.

Great review! It is interesting comparing the specs with the NU25 UL (GEN 2 version)...seem similar, but not exactly...so many choices!

Other than USBC, I like the old one better (more diffuse beam, warmer color, much longer battery life). The new one is still great, just not as good as the original…

Does it drop brightness on low and medium like new models?

On medium, brightness holds steady until the battery is very low - then it steps to low.

Of course I bought the old stock of the old headlamp for more money (because the NU25 sucks) just before this came out

The new NU25 has a 650mAh battery, 30% bigger than the 500mAh on the new NU20..
Also it seems they have made the beam quite narrow :
    new NU20 throw at 200lm : 85m !
    old NU25 at 190lm : 61m
new NU25 at 200lm in hybrid mode: 45m (58m in spot mode, still less than the new NU20)
    Petzl bindi 200lm : 36m
    Black diamond Astro at 200lm : 35m (55m at 300lm)
Not sure this is great for hiking.

I used it recently night hiking up Katahdin. The brightness and beam was sufficient, however, I would have preferred the wider beam of the old NU25.
