It’s so cool to see how chill and confident Rivers is in interviews compared to his Pinkerton days when he could barely make eye contact and put sentences together.
Nobody liked that shy nerd rock hero who was kinda fratty though grungey and had a unique and humourous capacity for hip hop, I doubt he listened to Beethoven much
@@greyculture9112 I know this is probably a joke but jesus this is so fucking mean not to mention that (arguably) Red, Hurley, EWBAITE, White, OK Human, and (arguably) Van Weezer are all great albums. man has consistently put out good material for like 3 decades now and is genuinely happy and people are still dicks to him
I could listen to Rivers speak his mind for hours. Say what you want about Weezer, but they take musical risks and experiment with ideas. They may not land every time, but they've left a legacy of tunes that have been the soundtrack of our lives at one point or another. That legacy will endure, and time will look kindly on their contributions to the art form.

I honestly don’t know why your show isn’t more popular. You’re such a genuine, interested and curious person when talking to people - you deserve way more recognition than you do
13:40 so... Beverly Hills was always just a bad song made from a bad idea. I love it. It gave me closure somehow 🤣 also I really dig this interview and it's always interesting to hear what rivers have to say.
My friends and I used to rip on that song when it came out. But, I can say now it's not terrible. I don't think they were taking themselves too seriously making that song. You can feel it. It's like they just wanted to make almost a parody of those kind of songs, not trying to get that big hit. That makes me feel better about that song. Had they try to sell it as an artistic landmark, then I'd laugh about it and totally disagree. But I've never heard them do that.
I just happen to play with my band "Say it ain't so" and "Hash pipe", what a fun was to play those songs. As musician I think the only thing that counts when writing a song is the legacy it brings to the world (the deep happiness it can bring to a person). Not the number of likes or streams because that doesn't necessarily represents the real world. I only learned about VW and the Africa cover thanks to this interview, they are ok but personally I stick with the Weezer of the 90s! What a legacy they left.
Weezer's melodies are egalitarian, minimaxed, and ruthlessly addictive. Rivers, you know how to write a song that packs as much punch as possible for whatever weight class its in. Your constant self-reflection and improvement are clearly audible in what you do. I was listening to Buddy Holly the other day and it struck me that the lyrics make up for lack of explicit meaning by being satisfying, self-contained morsels. Like you're eating a plate of food with different sides and they all complement each other even though they're not one cohesive dish. In general, Buddy Holly is my go-to example for trying to unravel the secrets of something that is "inexplicably catchy."
Great interview kiddo Jesus Christ, you are pro talk about legend I think you’re gonna be a legend someday I really believe that Rivers Cuomo is the most underrated Singer songwriter guitar player ever Weezer will go down as one of the biggest and best bands of all time in my opinion so so underrated! Great interview thanks again keep up the great work and rock out Weezer🤘🏽🤪🤘🏽🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Gosh darn......lol! Rivers is the Ned Flanders of rock music! Lol! He hyped up how dark the black album was and it turned out it was about as dark as not washing your hands after taking a leak, lol!
Fantano is EXACTLY the kind of guy that Rivers does not like. A snob that acts and thinks he's superior by bashing things. Someone that doesn't actually have a clue about music and acts like they do. Yes. I know he plays a few notes on bass. He likes showing his viewers that, doesn't he? "See guys! I'm a musician too so I know what i'm talking about." No. He doesn't have a clue. Fantano and the rest represent everything that is wrong with many fans of music today.
It’s so cool to see how chill and confident Rivers is in interviews compared to his Pinkerton days when he could barely make eye contact and put sentences together.

rivers is such a chill dude
He waits til he's 51 to grow his hair long.
Meanwhile, I'm barely holding on to what I have at 43
He was balding a few years ago. Must of used that rockstar cash for new hair implants, My self am going for the crypt keeper look.
He had metalhead hair up until 1993
It's a wig or something else because was bald
He had very long hair before the release of Weezer's debut album. Weird to think he wrote "Buddy Holly" while having almost waist-length hair.
Imagine talking on campus about a band you like and the lead singer comes up very shy and says hey that’s actually my band
Very happy with the music Weezer put out this year (especially OK Human).
