For someone who learnt off YT and had no prior knowledge of joinery you are a VERY well equipped man Sir. Workshop, Tools, Jigs, saws - the lot !!! Well done.
Holy guacafreakinmole. That’s epic. Thank god all the beasties here in Australia only want to kill us, not steal our food!! On a side note, that face in the bear’s head reminded me I had a dream last night where they (?) cut open a snake & found a huge hornless elk or some such that then proceeded to eat the lump of flesh next to it in the gizzards, but swiftly got taken out by some other creature watching the whole event. So thanks for that flashback! Anyway, I changed the bell setting to all or whatever cos RUclips didn’t bother telling me about this doozy. 👍
Awesome video! I bet training that bear was probably the hardest part. Also, I just watched the unistrut video and plan on that addition to our CRV. Can't wait for next project... keep em coming!
Serendipity man lol I just found all of your SUV camper builds yesterday, saw that you haven’t uploaded in a long time and assumed you gave up but said “ah I’ll subscribe to him anyway in case he ever decides to come back” 12 hours later here we are Love the videos man! A lot of stuff in this space is more or less the same thing Re-hashed over and over again but you’re thinking outside the box and doing things I’ve never seen anyone else do. I dig it.
Great job on the video Matt! Thanks for making it. I love your bit about the side quest. I also feel like no trip to Lowes is complete without a second trip to Lowes.
The build is cool, the presentation style is amusing. You're wrong about the master lock being more secure than a ratchet strap though. Odds are good that thing'll just pop off as you're driving along.
@@MattTheDesignerThe craftsmanship is excellent, the video is top notch, I echo the sentiment of the other commenters' that your channel deserves way more subs. I do have to say, as someone who signs waiver forms for school field trips acknowledging that my child may be mauled by bears, aka living in the Yukon, that box is more mildly bear resistant than bear proof. A black bear would squash that box like a watermelon if it were motivated. A brown bear would think it was super easy, barely an inconvenience. You're not trying to defeat the ursine LockpickingLawyer. You need it to stop a brute force attack.
Just a heads up. The PVC plates will outlive the life of the box but if there isn't any UV stabilizer in the masterbatch its gonna get a rough surface as it erodes and it will become brittle over time. The sun is a fickle mistress
Hey dude I was going to subscribe to your channel. Where is the subscribe button? Did they take it away? That isn't fair at all. Thanks anyway maybe next time I can who knows. Great idea!!!!
So far I’ve only driven it through a light rain and it been great. I probably should have put some kind of gasket under the lock though. But so far so good.
@@MattTheDesignercuz designers need to create a problem to solve 😂😂😂. I grew up poor so I actually always revert to that first, before purchasing something. I read too many Boxcar Kids books as a kid. My husband is a Dr and I’m an RN, so it’s pretty funny spending too much money on quality Hennessy Hammocks and then devoting time to learn how to splice Amsteel rope into whoopie slings. Basically if I can use Amsteel rope to make soft shackles, slings, super strong continuous circles rather than loud and heavy clips, clamps and bungees (plus they don’t stay soaked and get heavier when wet) then I’m a happy camper.
Sorry sir I swear the subscribe button was not there yesterday! But it is today. So yes thank you sir I subscribed. Would have it been there had I not said something not sure. Trust in God and Grow! Grow in love, light, and frequency!

I buy at least two tools every project. Does that ever end???
@@MattTheDesigner And the wood shop ? Bought that too ? LOL.
The bear costume 😆 Made this video so much better 🤘
Haha. Good. Felt a little silly renting a bear costume.
And filming it in a public park…
What costume?
This entire process was just the right amount of overkill and I love it
Tip on drilling metals is to use oil or bees wax to help with the drilling and make the drill bit last longer. Less friction.
Great idea. Thnx!🎉
Watching stuff like this is better than therapy for me
I can not belive this channel dosen't have more subscribers, keep it up!
Thanks! Tell your friends. Haha
CRV over landing > overpriced Tacoma overlanding
LOVE the content man and quality stuff!! eager for more
But if someone gave me a Tacoma I wouldn’t say no haha.
How the heck do you not have more sub, comment and liked so you get blessed by the algorithm
It could be because I only post once every few months. haha. Hopefully I'll change that soon!

Your Midjourney prompts are hilarious. “Taxidermy bugs wearing cloths Route 66 roadside attraction.” 😂
Haha. It’s so fun.

Thanks Jeff! It was hard but looks great on a resume.
You’re a master story teller. Good work dude.
Watched 4 of your videos and LOL'd in every one = Subscribed! Well done!
I wish your channel has millions
Me too!

Big Hi from Ireland 🇮🇪
Just found you....i love your ideas, delivery and positivity!
BEAR MODE!! 🐻🧔
If this channel doesn't work out, ChisellingEdgeBandingASMR could be a thing!
Lol, @ the bear mask at the end
I really like how you shout out the channels that helped you. Big D energy.
RUclips can be so terrible but content like this offsets all the bad.

Great job on the video Matt! Thanks for making it. I love your bit about the side quest. I also feel like no trip to Lowes is complete without a second trip to Lowes.
Then to another hardware store to find the one part Lowe’s doesn’t have.
For extra strength on your beta build you could weld the ends of those side plates to the angle iron pieces on the corners.
Hopefully this year I’ll learn to weld.
WOW just WOW
I hope that you did get some nice footage of a bear struggling and loosing to your ingenuity.
They have not yet dared to try.
@@MattTheDesignergive them time and have your camera ready.
So talented and pretty funny lol
Great video! it's great to another high quality project made by you! Your editing was also top notch on this video1 Looking forward to the next one!
I appreciate it!
Awesome to see a new project!
Matt, your videos are seriously the best. Keep em coming!
In Mother Russia we don't have problems with bears. We just put balalaika and bottle of vodka outside as a treat
Do bears drink vodka in Russia?
@@MattTheDesigner only after playing on balalaika
I came here for the chuck box inspiration and i was not disappointed. That bear at the end was super scary 😉😅
I almost died for this video!
@@MattTheDesigner so brave. Idk how you got such amazing steady shots of this wild bear. ☺️
Wow! Awesome
This was an awesome build great job I really love it
Nice bear chuck box 📦🐻
Great video! How does this only have 1k views!?
I wish I knew.
The build is cool, the presentation style is amusing. You're wrong about the master lock being more secure than a ratchet strap though. Odds are good that thing'll just pop off as you're driving along.
I need to ask the lock picking lawyer about this.
@@MattTheDesigner if the lock is to secure against a bear, a bow shackle and some loctite would be a solid bet.
Lol, dude, the box is awesome, I love the build, but a bear would still wreck that.
Didn't you see the bear at the end? Didn't leave a mark at all. haha
@@MattTheDesigner 🤣🤣
I guess the bears in my area are a bit more hungry. 🤪
Again, though, really awesome box. Love the look.

🎉🎉 can't stay for the premiere but so excited for a new upload!🎉🎉 how is the window insert holding up?
I’d say surprisingly well. I wasn’t sure about the caulk and little screws holding up but they have so far.
Those are dope hinges.
I know! But they were expensivvvvve. I didn’t draw too much attention to them because they cost so much.
More please…. Lol
Would love to see you design interior for a pickup truck topper/ camper shell 🥹 pleaseeee
Would love to make one. Should I buy a truck?? 🤔

Out of curiosity, how well does the waterproofing work?
Keep up the nice work👍
So far I’ve only driven it through a light rain and it been great. I probably should have put some kind of gasket under the lock though. But so far so good.
The standing out combination lock pad is the weakest point, I was expecting it to be flush.
It really is. Good news is the doors are the easiest thing to update without tearing the whole things apart.
What's that swing out bar table thang?
Should be a link in the description and a link to the original review I watched that made me want to buy it.
Cool story, but why were you leaving your plastic food bins outside of your vehicle where the bear could get to them in the first place?
I'm not smart.

Thanks for the video.
