    The tensioner wheel shelled on my wife's 09 focus se when the bearing seized. I took the wheel bolt out from the top of the engine, but with the replacement wheel being complete, it wasn't as easy to install. I've seen other videos where the motor mount had to be removed to get to that part. What a pain.

    I have had 2 of those dayco tensioners on my 2003 focus. 1st broke after about 1.5 years warranty only 1 year. Second Broke after about 8 months. Cand get a new one since less than a year old. But I think issue is tensioner unwind stop is getting hit and tried a couple shorter belts but I could not for the life of me get a shorter one on. So I'm going to try a different tensioner, maybe a gates.

    Hey.. thank you very much for the video. Having the same issue. Couldn't figure out how to get to the idler puller... Advanced said they couldn't get a bolt for the idler puller. Online says napa has the bolt, so I'm hoping.. anyway cars are headaches an this video was super helpful

    Hi Blake.. thanks again for this Video !!! I have to do the same thing with my 2003 ford focus, replace the Tensioner and the Idler Pulley. But, I have to ask, when you removed the Motor Mount on the Passenger side... did you loosen the nuts on the OTHER Motor Mount? I was wondering if there would be any damage to the Driver Side Motor mount by lifting the engine. I guess the real question is, was there any damage to the Driver's side Motor mount after lifting the engine ??? THANKS AGAIN Blake!!

      No, I dint loosen it. You have a lot of room to work with the motor mount loose! Good luck on your project! Thanks for watching!

      @@ModologyMotorsports oh I am sure of it. Thankfully I still own my super long wrenches from matco....the bad news is I dont have a decent place to do this. Weather forecast is for more rain tomorrow as well....fun fun fun....NOT

      Tomorrow is the only day this week with no rain for us. I'm changing the timing belt on the Focus. Hoping it goes smoothly! 👍

    Hi , what happens if this doesn’t get replaced ? Mine is really old and worn I was wondering about the risk if I don’t get it fixed soon

      if the tensioner is no longer keeping the belt tight, all the other things rotated by the belt will not perform as they should. Like the alternator, the water pump, the power steering pump and the A/C compressor. Not to mention that the belt life will be decreased due to the friction of slipping on the pulleys which will harden the belt and cause eventual failure. So, yes, its a pain, but you really need to get it done.

    you could've just left the motor mount connected to the engine. Just disconnect it from the frame.

    No you don't need to raise the motor up

      No, you don't have to. But you do have to remove the motor mount. Raising the engine gives you a little more room to work. 👍

      @@ModologyMotorsports Hi Blake, thanks for this GREAT Video!!.. If I do have to raise the Passenger side of the engine up then don't I have to loosen the Driver side too?.. Won't the Motor Mount on the Driver side resist the raising of the engine?.. One last thing, Jerry said you don't need to raise the motor up, but you added that you do have to remove the Motor Mount. I take it that gives you the space to remove the Idler Pulley, right?

      Yes. You can still raise the passenger side of the engine with the drivers side attached. Jacking the engine up on that side gives you a lot more working room if you need it.
