Amazing riding. Love the little airs. Sweet snow. I use to ride a snurfer back in the 60's. Cut the rope off the 1st day to be more like surfing. I have a recurring dream where I'm riding without bindings again.. Such a happy dream! Nice job man.
I started on a 'Snurfer', um, 1974-5 winter, and then started 'snowboarding' in '78 on a Flite 140, which had fins and a convex bottom. The next board (which I still have, and sometimes use) was a 1980 Backhill 138cm twin-fin, with a flat base, rubber straps, and a snurfer-esq rope to the nose. In those days, that was the 'race board' from Burton. The other model was the "Backyard" which had the fins and rope, but only a thin rubber mat to stand on. If you could stay on one at a ski-hill, you were Golden! These 'old style' boards are truly going back to the surfing roots of snowboarding, and, for me, it's good to see! If you can float some pow on these, it's a sweet ride, something you remember, and can be proud of... "Pre-School Rider"
+Sam Arnold There are already more than enough powder snowboards on the market. The fascinating thing on this board is that it really works without bindings! It's going back to the essentials, to the roots. If you add bindings, you would destroy the spirit of this board and the idea behind it.
When i was a kid i had a black & red sled that looked liked a snowboard, it was just wide enough to sit on but i always stood on it like snowboard. didn't know i was powdersufing all along...
Parcourse97 Well you can continue to prefer as much as you want and as long as you wish. The music chosen for this video is much faster. Us with the Generation X in places like South Cali that started extreme sports that have went forward a lot are nearly all PUNK ROCK fans and a lot of the world famous best punk is local and semi local to us. WE DID NOT start doing this kind of stuff before it existed to soft mellow music or rap stuff. We may listen to some Marley or classic stuff after with some green. My first band was in High School playing punk at big keg parties. Named D.A.M.M. Drunks Against Madd Mothers good band and good times.
You really have to keep the weather forecast in focus if you want to get such snow. Yes, we were really lucky that the snow conditions were that perfect these days. Keep an eye on my RUclips channel (subscribe), I am currently editing another powdersurf video which I will publish soon. And if you want to know what to expect from powsurfing in the future, then watch this trailer: ruclips.net/video/YuyLsvWPiEg/видео.html
yes man, it's been 400 years since the Turkish ride like this, with a string behind and a stick in back hand for frontside. the stick in back hand is very important for your front side, try one.
The Powder Surfer works well in powder and slushy snow (just a few cm are already enough), where the board base can imprint the snow. It does not work on harsh or even icy snow or on a groomed slope.
They don’t have much to say about the board, more get up and try it yourself. I think it’d be great for expanding the snowboarding population. More places like local sled runs and large backyards are rideable with that board. Allowing it to be sold for all ages and price ranges, i.e make it cheaper for kids to use for their area rather than investing in a snowboard for the mountain would really be great for everyone.
Hi Robert, yes the big potential is to have fun with such a board wherever and whenever. I tried to work on the prices without compromises on performance and quality with my new brand. Check the boards here: www.konvoisnowboards.com/boards/powdersurfer.html Available soon. All the best Ben
Google for "The Asueto - Pogo Snowboards" (this is the powdersurfer shown in this video). If you google "Konvoisnowboards powdersurfer" you will find a choice of 6 different powdersurfer shapes made by Ben Dietermann (the guy riding in this video, he's also the shaper of the Pogo Asueto board). I hope I could help you, so get your board and go out powdersurfing! :-)
The cool thing is that you do not need ANY attachment to the board, it works great without. It's like skateboarding or surfing: why should you use velcro there?
I don't see any benefit here to not having bindings... On a surfboard you're paddling so bindings don't makes sense. On a skateboard you're pushing with one foot and doing tricks where the board leaves your feet, so bindings don't make sense. (not to mention needing to bail so you don't face plant on concrete). On a snowboard you're just going downhill and you never want the board to leave your feet so why not have some light bindings?
Unless you have a smooth slope of fresh pow no bumps or much change in grade mountain slopes are common to have. Better have some good Velcro or or strong magnets to have good riding without a lot of yard sales. On the right run it would work like surfing. That is what carving pow turns feels like. However the difference of free boarding VS wake boarding/skurfing over the boats wake at harsher angles is a similar issue. You do not go catching air free boarding behind over boat wakes. Nobody I have witnessed and I have tried.
From my own experience I can tell you that there are absolutely no velcro or magnets needed. It works very well without, even with bumps (which are actually fun to ride). Besides that, any fixation would destroy the spirit of riding bindingless.
Danny Strasser I have a very hard time thinking that would work over bumps. Not a pebble but a covered log. Even many types of powder getting on top of the board could displace your foot off the board. Smooth light powder at faster speed I can see working.
You can see in the video that even big bumps work well. I have even seen (and filmed) this guy doing up to 2m (6 feet) drops without any problem. The drop you can see at 2:43 was properly landed! The neoprene pads on this board work very well. I have ridden the board in many different snow conditions (nice powder to slush) and I have never had the feeling to lose grip. Try a good powder surfer (the ones with a 3D shaped base are the best in my opinion. There are very simple ones on the market, but I think those are rather better "skateboard decks") and you will find out how easy that is and how great it works! Btw, I have just posted a new Powder Surf video on RUclips: ruclips.net/video/Ddf2qxhtDLA/видео.html
Most people think that if you can ride it at all, it would only be in "perfect" conditions. But it's just like with other sports: Of course it's easier and much nicer to ski on a perfectly groomed slope in sunshine than on a hardpacked icy slope in fog. But it's still possible. And of course there are conditions in which you cannot ski at all, like if it's simply too steep to ski (and even then you'll always still find someone who can do it). The limitations are probably bigger than with a regular snowboard (an icy slope is really no fun and quiet uncontrollable on a powder surfer), but the conditions don't have to be by far perfect. Go out and try it!
Amazing riding. Love the little airs. Sweet snow. I use to ride a snurfer back in the 60's. Cut the rope off the 1st day to be more like surfing. I have a recurring dream where I'm riding without bindings again.. Such a happy dream! Nice job man.
Then you should really try a modern Powder Surfer (one with a 3D shaped base), you'll love it!

+ERIC BRAMMER I totally agree!
seems very easy to lose the board
+spunkflunk It's amazingly easy to control the board, you should give it a try!
I'm pretty sure most of them have a string that attaches to your body
+ZOOM Medusa I just worked with Ben so far, and the only attachment he had was a leash that prevents loosing the board.
+Danny Strasser why not add bindings to it, and have the ultimate powder board?
+Sam Arnold There are already more than enough powder snowboards on the market. The fascinating thing on this board is that it really works without bindings! It's going back to the essentials, to the roots. If you add bindings, you would destroy the spirit of this board and the idea behind it.
Love this shape, There are so many boards I would love to try out that are being made around the world. What a fantastic backcountry sport.
Unbelievable! , that is my dreaming snowboarding, finally someone created it. I want to try!, Love it!
When i was a kid i had a black & red sled that looked liked a snowboard, it was just wide enough to sit on but i always stood on it like snowboard. didn't know i was powdersufing all along...
mate, when i saw the board, i didn't fell comfortable with the idea of not having bindings but seeing you riding it, i'm gonna get it, man i will
Did u get it yet?
Great vid....but i dont think the music fits
me too
Well, music is always a question of personal taste ;-)
yes of course
Danny Strasser Yeah sure but this looks sooo smooth and chill...so i would pref smth like ...uhm...KYGO maybe :P

That powder is epic!! excellent vid guys and some sick riding!
Sehr geil! Es gibt eben doch immer wieder Sachen die einen richtig überraschen und beeindrucken - good job :-)
BEN Dietermann, Konvoisnowboards, His Powderssurfer are legend
where do u find that snow bro, it's awesome !!

wow, super! Nice leap from simple snowskate
Would be nice to have a powder super pipe and use this type of board, the pipe walls would be lilke surfing waves, would be pretty fun to try!
I wonder does it work in ski resorts where there is not as much powder

@@dannystrasser Thanks for the reply!
this looks so fun, very surf-esque!!
This is super cool, looks like a lot of fun.
+Frog and Hawk I have my own pow surfer and I can tell you: it is! It's even not as difficult as you would think.
They don’t have much to say about the board, more get up and try it yourself. I think it’d be great for expanding the snowboarding population. Your'e describing exactly the potential of Powdersurfing!

All the best Ben
Your intro is awesome
Omg when you lose the board, it slides down the whole mountain :D
Stefan Horn probably has a leash
the video shows him putting on a leash
visit Konvoi Snowboards. Thank's for Upload.
1:02 and that helps you make your turds lel
What does "lel" mean?
+Danny Strasser its like
it's lol but spelt differently but means the same thing it means "laughing out loud"
@@dannystrasser IDK
Where could i even get one of these boards
Google for "The Asueto - Pogo Snowboards" (this is the powdersurfer shown in this video). If you google "Konvoisnowboards powdersurfer" you will find a choice of 6 different powdersurfer shapes made by Ben Dietermann (the guy riding in this video, he's also the shaper of the Pogo Asueto board).
I hope I could help you, so get your board and go out powdersurfing! :-)
The leash helps you get clobbered over the head
Like the snow skate
how does it stuck so well to the boots?
Are you also wondering why surfboards in the sea or skateboards stuck so well to the rider's feet? It's gravity! ;-)
@Danny Strasser lol
I just googled ‘snowboarding without bindings’ just to see if there was such a thing...
Also how do the channels help you make turns?
It works by pushing snow under the board depending on what direction you lean, the snow being pushed under the board then changes the trajectory.
Where is he riding
+Jazz Rodriguez It's in Laterns, Austria.
Where is this filmed?
Kinda like the swallow tail Winter Sticks - Utah 1975.
What about puting surfing fins in it!!!
Love it!!
coming from skateboard, I think this will suit me better. I fail so miserably on snowboard;) You could call it snowskating;)
snowskating is already used, you got to think up a new name.
Have you tried velcro?
The cool thing is that you do not need ANY attachment to the board, it works great without. It's like skateboarding or surfing: why should you use velcro there?
this looks ridiculous awsome
I want to go there!
Really strong !
いいですね
Hola
what the name this song please :D
Tariman Permadi If you read the music credit at 0:27, 3:23 or the video description you will know ;-)
oh thanks, i forgot that moment :D
Tariman Permadi ;-)
Should've put ocean man as the music
Why can't you just ride a board with bindings
So, he does not use bindings, case bindingless ride is sexy ride?
Sweet video! Music is fine to me ;) its who you are not what others like. :)
A version with bindings would also be cool
Well, that would be a snowboard then...
@@dannystrasser😂
Nothing new under the sun... 😆
Just like the boards I was making in the 80's (dreaming of putting real edges on 'em)
凄いな
still a sidecut board it needs reverse sidecut!!! like a surfboard
That thing has to suck to wax. Looks super awesome and fun though 🤙
the important question is: Can you kickflip it?
das ist tiiiefer Schnee Yeeeah!
I do see a leash nevermind
It would be pretty stupid to ride without a leash, imagine losing the board on a long, steep run! ;-)
I don't see any benefit here to not having bindings... On a surfboard you're paddling so bindings don't makes sense. If you say so. I have not tried that and it is a bit hard to imagine it working in various conditions.

Fun vid but the music is unbearable.

Sweet video! Check out mine: GoPro 2K: Winter 2018 Recap.
How snowboarding should be
geil
lol will only work in HEAVY powder like that
Well, "like that"... generally the Powder Surfer works great in any soft snow, even slush.
