There are a ton of Dream Theater "STEM" files out on the interwebs - likely this is not the right way to get them (legal stuff like when a band sells their STEMS but they end up on the internet being "shared") There was an app a while back called "Jammit" that had official STEMS for a bunch of bands and I have a bunch of the files from that app but it app disappeared/went out of business and as far as I know there is nothing else like it. Do a search and you will find them but I have never seen this specific song. They are typically wav files and you can simply load them in your DAW and BAM - the studio is now in your room! They only go so far to separate instruments and effects though. Good luck with your search.
Hi Sunghyun, you know I think you are one of the best guitarists in the world! Do you speak English? I think if you have tutorials on your videos, this would allow to post so many more videos and increase your subscribers! You deserve this so much for the absolute effort you put into your guitar skill. I hope this is one thing you consider because you are the best player on RUclips - as good as John Petrucci and this is a huge compliment! Thank you. Jon
I have uploaded some video lessons, but what tutorial are you talking about? I also want my RUclips channel to have more subscribers and views. Thanks :)
@@sunghyunkimguitar Hello, I watch lots of different guitar channels here on YT - some get views in the hundreds of thousands. Your skill is likely to be waaay in the top of anyone here on YT - and I think people would enjoy the heck out of watching your skills. People are simply missing out as is often the case where the best products and ideas are often left behind due to popularity of other competitive products that are often way inferior... so what gives? Well first people are kind of dumb... myself included. Otherwise you might have the most popular channel. Entertainment value is something to consider, some of the other RUclipsrs have a fairly outward personality. You could try collaborating with some of these other channels, I am sure (I think I should be sure) you would be welcomed. Check out (only to name a few) Keyan Houshmand Live, BERNTH, João Medeiros (this kid is UNREAL!!!), yuichi112 (One of my new favorites) Nick Nocturnal, and then the uber popular channels like StevieT or Jarred Dines. I feel bad naming these folks as I know there is someone very worthy that I missed... Like you I am also a huge fan of Dream Theater - you have done so many awesome covers perhaps pick a song that is popular (yes I know you have covered other bands such as Metallica, Trivium) that also is as awesome as the Dream Theater songs are and cover more of those... I have a ton of suggestions of songs that I think are complex (I could be way wrong) There are tons of Periphery songs that have super cool rhythms etc... The Helix Nebula sounds tricky and cool as heck, there are lots of Polyphia songs that have to be crazy hard (I have been trying to learn Persevere but I really have no chance... be awesome to see you play this song! What do you think?) Also the tone that they get on that song - how the heck are they getting that??? Seriously the rhythm guitar really sounds unique. There is a band called "I Built the Sky" with a bunch of awesome tunes, and anything by Jason Richardson! Gear reviews from someone of your skill level could be very welcomed... And what about mixing tutorials - how come when I have the same gear as you it does not sound the same??? I had a demo of Reaxis and my tone was buzzy, muddy, like a speaker was blown kind of sound and yes I have great gear all properly set up (I know why I get the sh!t tones by the way, it is ME, my hands, my ability, timing, precision, etc... but even though I know I will watch some of the better mixing tutorials) If any of this works be sure to send some of the proceeds my way! On that last note and fwiw I have been thinking of launching a channel for a long time hence the name "Gary for Now" I will be someone else soon if I can hack it but have been quite hesitant as I often think "what do I have to offer..." Just wish me luck if I do anything!
@@garyfornow542 Thank you so much for the sincere advice. First of all, the entertainment value you mentioned is also very important to me. But my viewers don't seem to like me making entertainment videos because I can't speak English well and the image I have (the way people look at me) is focused on my performance. Also, I am very positive about collaborating with other RUclipsrs, so I will find a way to contact the RUclipsrs you mentioned. Thanks for letting me know. Because I don't know other famous RUclipsrs well. I want to make a video for the mixing tutorial, but like I said before, I'm not good at English. And because I practice, record, shoot, and edit videos by myself, it is very difficult to do all of this alone. Thanks again for your sincere advice.
The clean tone on the intro sounds like nothing i heard before. As if u had a microphone in the room, mixed into the recording. It feels like i can slightly hear u strum the strings. I dont know what it is, but its is awesome! Likewise the rest of the song. Practically like the original. Not to sound condescending. But i can tell u are still improving. Getting closer to perfection with each song u upload. I adore ur work. Thank u Sunghyun Kim for all ur effort.
As always amazing Sunghyun! I always enjoy watching all your videos. They really show your dedication and effort you go into great length into playing the songs as clean and accurate to the studio version with all the subtle details. Very inspiring. I always look at your videos when I get stuck in trying to figure out how a section of a DT song is properly played. I also wanted to take the opportunity to ask you if you have been able to figure out how to play the extended guitar solo at the end of "Take the Time" that appears on the Live in Tokyo 93 VHS/DVD video ?. I would love if you get the chance to tackle that extended solo. I have been trying to figure out how to play it, but there are many sections I just don't know how it is played. Hopefully this could be a fun challenge for a future video. Thanks for all your videos Sunghyun. Greetings all the way from Canada. Cheers Alfredo.
@@sunghyunkimguitar Yes. I love that version of the song with the intro from puppies on acid that eventually became the Mirror and the memorable extended solo at the end. I used to watch it a lot as a teenager on VHS back in 98. So I have been wanting to learn how to play it ever since. So far I have learned up until the point where the studio version finishes of which tabs are available, but I am now trying by ear and getting visual cues from the video by playing it at half speed to figure out and map all the notes he is playing, but has been a challenge to get all the accurate notes in between the accentuation of the different sections. It is going to take me a while to decipher it hahaha but a gratifying experience. That's why I was wondering if you have been able to tackle that solo before as you have been able to figure out many of John's most difficult compositions all the way through from start to finish. Once again thank you for sharing your passion in music with all of us Sunghyun. I have enjoyed your videos for years and have learned many things from watching them too. You really inspire many of us to do better and I know it has come through a lot of dedication and practice through the years. I also wanted to mention that I also really enjoy the isolated guitar tracks videos you do too. Have a great day. I look forward to new videos and new content from you. Cheers :)
@@sunghyunkimguitar I believe that you are selling these which is fine we all want to make money - I might suggest that a Patreon site would be better for you and for us as well. just for reference do you considere this song hard to play ? (only the rythm part not the solos)
