    It might be a good idea to add a warning in your otherwise very informative video reminding that any such work shold be done on cool surfaces. By all means, working in direct sunlight should be avoided. Regards !

      Why?

    • @danielrobert7181
      @danielrobert7181 3 года назад +1

      @@Useryoutube26813 Sun's is bad for your skin, causes glare that will prevent you to clearly see what you are doing, may cause your compound to smear and will make buffing a lot harder. But don't take my word for it, pick the next really hot and blazing sunny Summer day and try it.

    • @zoki.to974
      @zoki.to974 8 лет назад +2

      +Miller Gonzalez you cannot prove its the shop who made scratch except if you had detailed inspection before giving them keys. if shop accept the guilt, there is huge chance that they will give you discount on final price for work they done to compensate for scratch what i find good deal because you will repair this kind of scratch by your self and actually save the money... in case of bigger damage, yes, return car for them to deal with...

    Followed this after getting into an argument with an exit wall at a carpark (it's a really stupid design, but I wasn't paying enough attention). After removing the yellow paint from my car with WD-40 and a magic eraser, I followed this video. I couldn't get all of the same products, but got equivalents from a local store. Now I can only tell there's anything wrong with it if I'm under a foot away. Not bad! I'm sure with more time and effort the result would be even better. Thanks for this video!

  • @dicer14

    Perfect process! Bought the nu finish paste polish with the other products here and they totally diminished the apperance of some key scratches on my 2011 Hyundai sonata.
    I had bought the original dealer paint pen with horrid results. The paint would dry on top of the car leaving a layer, which made the scratches look worse.
    Thanks for this video man. Keep doing what you're doing!

    Easier to wet sand out that scratch with 3000 and then 5000 grit. Polish out 5000 grit sanding marks with Meguairs M-205. M-205 will remove 5000 grit marks out by hand. Sanding removes way less clear coat than compounding a larger area. Best of luck to you .

  • @billw5189
    @billw5189 7 лет назад

    My experience in working on a scratch was that step 1 & 2 helped make the scratches less
    visible, but that step 3 basically removed the good from step 2. So you may want to ignore step 3 with the Scratch Dr. if you're doing steps 1 & 2.

    He said right from the start, if its gone through the primmer, then you have to get it painted, sure there are kits out there to do it yourself, but it all depends on where the scratch is, like most new cars these days they have plastic bumper bars, which means totally different type of primmer used on plastic compared to metal paint primers. :)

    Question after using the rubbing compound for the scratch remover for the car should you use the compound and after using the scratch remover should you wash car again to take off the compound off after it dries? Or it's not necessary to wash it a second time it's fine to let it sit on the car.

    KLEANTRIX, question you mentioned Meguir's , I was wondering I have a similar scratch on my car, but I wanted to run this by to see what you thought. could I use the following Meguir's products in this order
    1. Scratch X2.0,
    2. Polish compound
    3. ultimate compound
    4. ultimate polish
    5. gold class carnuba wax
    6. M27 pro hybrid ceramic sealant.
    would be interested if there are any of these I could skip or use instead of another. your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

    If my car had a long streak scratch similar to someone keying it, would this technique work?

    • @krimmins6765

      No. If someone keyed your car the scratch would be far to deep. Check out a tutorial on how to use touch up paint if you want a DIY fix to that.

    when you apply each product on the scratch do you wait till it's dry or do you keep applying the next layer the moment you finish the previous layer?

    Nice video man. Just recently some jerk keyed my car. Scratches aren't very deep luckily. Similar to the one in your video.One question, does this last a long time? or does it need to be repeated periodically.

    Dude ty...appreciate the video... hope its gonna work for me.. Any suggestions as to what to do if the paint actually peeled off ,if its the size of 2 quarters or so.. Can see the bumper actually.

    @3:55 - You can clearly see a gap in the recording. The micro fibre towel has changed to a different towel in his hand. The cream on the surface of the scratch has also disappeared. This video was clearly recorded in reverse. Removing scratch is not as effective as this video is showing....

    are the last two products necessary (wax/jeweler polish)? the scratch looks like its pretty well gone after the compound and first polish. I got a few small superficial ones but this stuff costs a lot. anyways great vid.. I got a similar scratch on the same car

    What is easier which I do is start with 1500 or 2000 grit sand paper go to 3000 then use some scratch x or whatever then come over it with some wax works pretty good

    Would you mind explaining what is the difference between turtle wax rubbinh compound and the very last paste wax you used? Thanks

  • @jackieyip359
    @jackieyip359 9 лет назад

    Nice, I may have t try this. I am wondering if I can substitute the rubbing compound with an abrasive instead. Otherwise I do have the polish and turbowax, just thinking about it. But good video, I prefer this method vs WD-40

    My bumper is scratched recently and there are big black marks on it. I think it's dirt as well as paint got removed. Is that something I can fix?

    So you "filled in" the scratch with product. you did not "remove" the scratch. once the product wears off, the scratch will reappear!

    As vigorously as you were rubbing, it seems the clear coat might be damaged. I did that using rubbing and polishing compound a little to harshly.
