I would add though that income also affects what youre eating if youre poor youre buying cheaper processed and unhealthy food anyways and yes you eat more due to the sleep depravation but the cost of food in the US is insane right now especially healthy non processed foods i mean even milk has obviously skyrocketed over the past couple years and people who dont have the income have had to cut things like that out of their diet or they buy the milk but then they dont have the money for healthier foods and buy cheaper processed foods
Monks at Mt.Athos sleep 4 hours a day and have longer life spans than the average person globally. They have very low incidence of cancer and heart disease. It also depends on your mental and spiritual state as they have proven.
These kinds of things depend a lot on the situation and person. Some people need very little sleep as opposed to another person who needs a lot more sleep. Sleeping to much can be bad for your health as well. In general over 8 to 9 hours is linked to many health problems and diseases. It's also never one thing that makes a person get a certain disease or something bad like that, it's always going to several different factors coming together at just the right time in order to cause a problem. Most of the time it's just genetics. We see people who do drugs and drink who have a horrible diet their whole life while being chronically sleep deprived, but live to their 80s or 90s just based on good longevity genes, and the fact they were lucky enough not to have had anything cause any serious health problems or diseases, and then we see people in their 20s and 30's who work out and eat right all the time, while getting good sleep, and they end up getting sick all the time, and they end up getting cancer or other diseases young and end up tragically dying. A lot of these things are genetic, and can only be controlled very slightly. We all need to do the best we can though. People tend to think something happens to them because they didn't sleep well or eat well which is the wrong way of looking it, while it is good to do both obviously it's never just one thing that causes problems, it's several things coming together, and you probably don't even know about or have any idea how to describe some of them.

@@nilanka1231 I've been sleeping better lately, only pulling all nighters once in a while. One thing that really helps is staying busy and active and, believe it or not, working towards a purpose that makes you feel better and hopeful about life. You may have heard already that depression can feed into sleeplessness and vice versa. Well, I started working towards something better in life by going back to college and working towards a career. Basically, my life has sucked for a while, but now I'm feeling more hopeful and less mentally disturbed. And I get that having financial stability and a decent career is only one aspect of things. If you have an addiction that makes you feel guilty a lot (drugs, porn, overeating, etc.) then that can cause a mental disturbance that makes it harder to sleep. When you go to bed, you want to have inner peace. I would also add in that exercising the mind is just as important as physical exercise. I used to have a menial labor job that required much physical exertion, yet I still couldn't sleep at night. I would read sometimes, but not really do a whole lot to challenge my mind. But now that I'm enrolled in physics and technical writing and have gotten back to studying guitar, I feel I'm exhausting my mind, which seems to have a positive effect on sleep. So, I'd say to just get rid of bad addictions that make you feel guilty, if any. Fill your schedule with things that exhaust you mentally and, to some degree, physically. And find a purpose that makes you feel hopeful about the future. Do all this in addition to the common tips you've read online such as avoiding electronic usage shortly before bedtime. One of these tips that has been crucial to me is not going to bed too early. I used to try to go to bed too early a lot to get 7-8 hours of sleep. Now, I've learned that sometimes it just takes an extra hour or so to be able to fall asleep quickly. It's better to go to bed a bit later and still get some sleep than to go too early and lie in bed awake all night. Not everyone needs 7-8 hours of sleep every night. One more thing to mention is that it's best to be an early riser. I used to work late jobs where I wouldn't get to bed until 5 a.m. or sunrise. That didn't help things. Our sleep-wake cycle works best with sunrise and sunset. You rise close to when the sun rises. Sure, some people can get by differently, but I really don't think it's ideal.
