I fell in love with a "Banner Boy" buckboard I saw at a car show when I was about 7. Then I built go-karts as a kid, using any crap I could find on the curb. Always liked the Idea of the Cycle Cars of the teens and twenties - 'cause it seemed like the perfect solution to the daily commute in the gas guzzlers of the '60's and 70's. I've spent years commuting to work on an antique single- cylinder motorcycle; but my eyesight, my balance, and my muscle strength have begun to decline rapidly, so this summer, in order to celebrate my retirement, I began building my buckboard - - This cyclekart movement is the most exciting new thing in motorsport since go-karting exploded, back in the sixties. I want to see commuter lanes on every main road reserved for lightweight, high-mileage vehicles, so that green commuters won't get squashed by trucks and busses. I'm already designing my second cyclekart build, so my Lady and I can start crashing Hot-Rod cruises, and stirring things up.

So glad you're going through the Bardahl car. As I said, i had never driven it; only started the engine.
If you hadn't been somebody who could go over it before lighting the tires, there's no way i would have sold it to you! :-)
As for the Amilcar's front tires being backwards, it really doesn't matter, since no torque (from engine or brakes) goes to it. It steers the same, with tread rolling either direction. (But it does look weird. I'll grant you that!)
Anyway I'm really glad they've gone to a great guy, and now I have room for my first scratch build!

I saw a car on a Facebook page, it was a 1936 Auburn Boattail Speedster and I immediately took to the design which is odd for me, I then begin giving this some contemporary retro style and make some changes when I find a page that races early 1900's scale cars, very excited to see a few designs come to life 😊

I built one over the last year and a half and it has been a blast! I'm in western Pennsylvania and am trying to generate interest. I drive mine in local parades and in the high school parking lot on weekends. I based my build on a 1922 Sunbeam.

I've managed to own 2 of these awesome machines in my half century+ driving years.
Both vintage British one-offs from the 30's.
They were hard as hell to acquire and worth every bit of the effort.

Super cool video!! I have been assembling a machine shop to support my RUclips channel that I will be starting with the build of a 1928 Morgan RIP GN special 3 wheeler with 4 wheels. I am using an experimental aircraft opposed twin supercharged engine. This will be mated to an MG 4 speed manual gearbox with a 2 piece hand cast aluminum adapter. This will be connected to an MG differential with beautiful wire wheels. The frame I stood over steel and will have aircraft cloth stretched over and sprayed with plasticizer. This will have a boat tail look and is essentially a 20's airplane without a propeller or wings. There is only one other in existence and Charlie Martin races it in the UK. The next project lined up is the building of a Brooklands style cycle car similar to the Pembleton. This will have a BMW R-100 engine in the front and four wheels with gorgeous leather interior and even space for luggage. I look forward to seeing everyone over at the channel when it gets warm out enough to be in the barn in Pennsylvania .....

Subscribed for this.. Love cycle cars, especially the properly styled ones like those. The barhdal is beautiful but I would absolutely love to have one like the boat tail #26.. I dont get to get out much so I would actually daily one around here, especially if I installed my 5spd 250cc honda cg clone engine.. Gonna share video to my Facebook and see if anyone locally would be interested in starting a race league and maybe a business building/selling them.

there are guid lines they abide by .yes you can do pretty much anything you want but the motors and the wheels are pretty standard. the idea is to make it affordable for ANY ONE .if you want to be exclusive there are a ton of high dollar short track cars you can build and race.
