  • Some 8mm standard cine film showing Tamworth Carnival of 1967. Well...here is Tamworth's good folk of over 50 years ago.
The phrase "Carnival" has an interesting etymology. It is from Latin and means meat/flesh (carno) putting away (levare). Which was a celebration where meat was raised....and of course becomes the word carnival with a slightly different way of celebrating today.

My sister used to be in the Meri Makers band, just 1 of the bands that used to be in the carnivals. She passed away in 2007, have you any more films of the days?.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. My date came from the box that the film was in, but that does not mean it might not be out by a year or two. People can be mistaken. BTW, the film took about two hours to prepare for YT, so that it can be seen by people.
