Omg You have re-ignited my Love of Star Trek with this Video on this Game! I have to get my laptop back to get Back into the best Star Trek Fun. Thank you Sir!
The Defiant retained its NX 74205 registration all throughout the series, even after it was destroyed and replaced with the rechristened São Paulo, and even when you saw it in the Starfleet museum in Star Trek Picard
@@2pixelwide That was the registry of the São Paulo - but seemingly (along with the name) the registry was also changed. Part of this was due to stock footage being used - but even new shots still had the Defiant with the NX-74205 registry. But you now see that the name and registry can be changed within Star Trek Picard… without wishing to spoil anything for anyone.
One of the key plot points of the movie was that the starship sensors didn't work in the nebula. Also, Khan was extremely intelligent but unpracticed in space combat. Kirk used the nebula to go above Khan and attack him from the Z axis (Khan due to his inexperience only strategized in 2D or X & Y axes).
If you like this, Try the 'Armada III' mod for Sins of a Solar Empire. That mod is an incredible total conversion to Trek , and the ship combat translates incredibly well.
You can never really see the ship battles close up in that game, especially since you have to manage your planets the whole time. Empire at war lets you really savor the battles visually. Wish it had a good star trek mod
Honestly, one of the best parts of this game was the damage visuals and the way the phasers did more damage the longer you held them, as the beams cut deeper. It was such a lovely expression of the visuals, mostly drawn from TOS movies and Enterprise.
Man, I LOVED Legacy when I had it for the 360 back in the day. This game is actually how I got a friend of mine into Trek, and he's been a massive nerd about it ever since, lol.
We need a modern equivalent to this game. I got it on the Xbox 360’first, then when I heard of the mods, got the PC version. Still have both sitting on my bookshelf.
Since when do Miranda class ships AKA Reliant carry cloaks? I played a friend's copy of this back when it came out plus owned the PS2 Trek games from this era and still own the DS game. The PSP game is a port of the DS game I believe.
Played it, love it, i make my own edits to the ship files so i can play ENT era ships in later eras with their technology. Its so fun and kinda simple to learn with some practice. Also, 'NX' is a designation by Starfleet to mark a ship as 'prototype' or 'experimental' Also also!, who WOULDN'T do Kirk? Even the manliest man would do Kirk!
It's not that people never heard of it. It's just that the original release of Star Trek Legacy, despite looking and sounding great, was so broken it was pretty much unplayable that it became overlooked. Looks like it might be worth playing with this mod though. Might check it out.
@@SexyBiscuit I recall an Article in PC Format on abandonware and it concluded that it isn't legal. There's plenty of Google search results that confirm this. There is no legal concept of "abandonware". Its unlikely that any company will chase you over it though.

Thank you very much for this. I loved STL, but I didn't know, it was for free now. (Once I gave someone my CD, and never got it back. ^^° ) And this mod, you show here is really great. Especially with this Scenarios out of the Movies. But there is one thing I must point out: But I must admit, I have a few comments about the battle against Kahn: - 15:18: The shields were failing in the Movie, because they were flying in the Mutara-Nebula. You were supposed to fly directly in the Nebula, like they did in the movie. Because of... - 16:15: The Reliant didn't cloak. Except of a very few ships and instances, Starfleet ships never had the ability to cloak. Like in the movie, the nebula is disrupting the sensors, rendering the enemy ship invisible. If they programmed it to be, like in the movie, I guess you need to get very close to the enemy inside the nebula, to see it. - 17:18: They already said it in the movie: The mutara nebula disrupts shields and sensors. It's been ten years and I still remember this. - 17:45: He has no CLOAK!!! - 17:58: The shields will not repair, because they are not damaged. It's just the nebula. This is also, why they don't appear damaged on the HUD. Even though, the ship was supposed to be heavy damaged from the beginning of this scenario, the only reason, the Reliant even posed a threat to the much stronger Enterprise. - 18:17: "The Nebula is messing with my sensors..." Finally. Thank you. ^^° - 18:24: NO SHIELDS!!! - 19:45: NO CLOAK!!! - 19:52: I SAID NO CLOAK!!! But really thank you very much. Great presentation of the game. But you should really watch again KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNNNN :D

I think they confused photon banks and phaser banks, because I know that the Galaxy-class has a bunch of phaser strips, but only two torpedo launchers (when the saucer is docked).
I do remember it and played though it i think..... 2 or 3 times, the controls in the base version on the PC are hard to manage, even when playing with the gamepad but it's doable..... the Story was quite well done and the OG Voice Actors did a good job.

I liked Legacy for the story and voice acting, but Star Trek Bridge Commander with mods is hands down the best ship simulator IMO. If someone made a hybrid game that had features from Stage9 and Bridge Commander it would be the ultimate ST experience.
Didn't take you for a trekkie hehe. I played tons of star trek games, since the times of Klingon academy! But haven't seen this one before. Crazy! Thanks Biscuit!

I still have this game on 360 but it doesn’t have any of that cool Mod stuff, obviously…. Guess I’ll be downloading the Pc version.😁
Never did play this one very much because of the 360s limitations but it was such a great game in design and gameplay. Thank you for breaking this one out of the closet as I had forgotten and I may have to give this an install. Cheers mate!
I have this on 360! I used to turn down the game music and then use the custom music option in the xbox dashboard to play a playlist of music from the movies. Love that you can also hear the standard Bethesda voice cast in here, probably fresh off of voicing oblivion.
"All the ships in this game use their realistic firing arcs", said during a battle where he mentions a Federation ship being cloaked at a time when Federation ships didn't have that ability.
The best era of Star Trek games was 1997 to 2002. Like 2006, a lot of ST games were released, but unlike the 2006 era, the 97-02 games were actually good.
I do actually remember playing this game when it first came out. The PC version is literally a port of the XBox version with some keyboard and mouse controls slapped on. Which means that even on PC, this game is better played with a controller. But the game is actually really good despite that one minor flaw.
I had this on 360. By far my favorite Star Trek game! Let’s face it, we all want that sweet ship combat and this feels good! I also love how they admit the Federation has battleships. Heavy cruiser my azz sovereign class!
Au contraire, @SxyBiscuit, I have played this. I played this to death when it was first released (not the mod - I played that much later). It's a good game but could be longer. It takes you through several eras starting with the NX-01 as Archer, right up until an epic battle in the post TNG era. The hardest mission for me was when you had to save these planets being attacked by asteroids using the D. It always took me several attempts and it made me rage when I fail the mission the 7th time! That said, it is fun overall and I should get this again with the latest mod. Hopefully the mod devs are still active and will be making some 25th century ships.
I downloaded it from the link above to my PC but don't have a clue how to install it. It went to my This PC/Downloads but the install wizard appears not to work but I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact I have Windows 10 on my machine. Game looks great but if anyone could give me advice that would be great. Perhaps I need to go on Ebay and buy a used copy. Its unfortunate that Steam could not carry this game.
I had this game on my Xbox 360 and my gawd I was bad at it, never finished the campaign. I had Star Trek Conquest on the Wii which I liked a lot, very simple game but would entertain me for hours, was actually good at that one.
It looks lovely, I mean the graphics look awesome for its age, I never knew about it, I play Star Trek online occasionally and I'm like the graphics aren't impressive, it reminded me from the 80's but this, this look awesome, I wish someone makes a proper star trek mashup system like legacy, sto and with interior walking and hiring NPCs like Starfield. It would be awesome. ❤ your uploads and keep it up!
I remember enjoying this game despite certain frustrating missions, and a really irritating control issue on PC thanks to its console origins, where if you moved the mouse at all, you dropped target lock
Was one of my favourites back in the day. Played the hell out of it. I feel like Star Trek Online's battles are quite similar, if poisoned by MMO stuff.
I had this on PC when it was originally came out, it looked amazing graphically, but remember the controls weren't the best. Massive trekkie fan so might download for free 😊 Thanks for this dude, live long and prosper 😂 ✌️
I loved the Trek games of this era. Legacy is the whole reason why I got a 360 in the first place which got me into Fallout New Vegas and I got more and more addicted to the Bethesda Kool-Aid. Tactical Assault on the DS was stupidly addicting, Encounters was basically the game Asteroids with a Star Trek paint job but it was still pretty fun. Elite Force however remains my favorite Trek game because it was my first and I grew up on Voyager.
I think I dabbled with this game and mod on PC, but it was a while ago. If I recall the original game wasn't very good and the mods are what make it worth while. The Wrath of Khan battle sent chills down my spine with that music playing!!! Bridge Commander has great mods too, but was probably the better game to star with. I played Klingon Academy when it was a new game and it had great space combat and visuals for it's time.
My comment got a Heart react from Roxy!!! Hurray! That means I'm awesome! *checks comments* Oh, everyone got a Heart react from Roxy... Hurray! That means we're ALL awesome!!!
I love this game and had the urge to play it on my Xbox. Sadly, it's not backwards compatible with the Xbox 1. Looks like I have to dig my 360 out. I wish I had a good computer, that modded version looks amazing.
Uh, actually I did play Legacy, on PS2 . Loved it almost as much as Conquest. Edit; FYI, NX is a label for all Starfleet prototypes. Once they go into production, they're given the NCC designation.
Itd be nice to see a remaster for the new generation of consoles. I still have my 360 copy that i always thought was fun and had cool models. I also remember during the intro sequence of legacy showing the enterprise and reliant battle that isnt playable in game, well on the 360 vrsion atleast i have no idea if the scenarios were on pc.
Loved the 360 version of this, never got it on PC though. I enjoy STO, but stuff has gotten so expensive, it really does ruin the game by blocking off so much content.
This was an excellent game for stand alone Star Trek. I had originally put a Let's Play of horrid quality back in the day. I am glad to see this video.
Great vid! I had this on the 360 years ago, but never really had the patience to learn the controls. The PC version with the Ultimate Universe mods seems fantastic, so I'll be sure to give it a go!
C'mon now, the Mutara Nebula affected Shields and Sensors... The Reliant wasn't cloaking; you or he popped into the Nebula and disappeared from screens.
this game was a gem in it's day. my only complaint with it is that there aren't more noncombat sections. like places where you have to solve mysteries or use diplomacy.
Cool, Roxy playing Trek. Still have to disagree with this being the best trek game. The best trek game ever is the 1988 MS DOS version of the originally text based Star Trek from 1971 called EGA Trek. They took the originally tested based game and added visuals to turn it into more of a Space based RTS.
Never played? I had it on the X-Box 360, and I was highly disappointed, but my disappointment comes from having already played the best Star Trek game that I have ever played a few years before, that is Star Trek: Bridge Commander. I haven't had the opportunity to play Star Trek: Bridge Crew, but it does look promising. "The best Star Trek game ever made." No, not by a LONG shot. It's not a bad game, but compared to the games like Bridge Commander where you're in the captain's seat commanding a starship from first person view, it's really difficult to compete with that. Heck I'd even say the Sega Genesis Star Trek: The Next Generation Echos from the Past was a better game than this game, not graphically obviously, but again the first person view that puts you in the captain seat, way more immersive than this game is. The only way to beat Bridge Commander would be with VR and that's what Bridge Crew is, so it has strong potential to be the best Star Trek game ever made. In my opinion the best Star Trek game would be a game where it's in VR and you can go anywhere on the ship and on away missions, but no one has made a game like that yet. "This thing has crazy range on it..." That's another thing that disappoints me about all Star Trek games, including my beloved Bridge Commander, the weapons range is nowhere near as far as it's been established in canon, the STTNG season 4, episode 12 The Wounded where the renegade Federation captain is destroying Cardassian ships that he thinks are running supplies for a possible Cardassian invasion of the Federation; in that episode they establish that weapons range for the Phoenix (the Federation ship what was firing on the Cardassian ships) was approximately 250,000 km.
Thanks to your video I am giving this a shot today, only one issue. My mouse seems to be stuttering all over the place? It's not really smooth at all. Unfortunate.
I just realized there would be no lighting on the ship during any battle or dangerous situation. They would have automatically darkening windows as well.
Interesting. I read a piece, recently, that suggested stealth in space is incredibly difficult given the ease of detecting energy/radiation, even using today’s technology.
Hmm, I remember playing this on Xbox ages ago. I liked the power management, phaser capacitor system and firing arcs. But the strategy was kinda shallow, since it was 2.5D space, no rolling, no shield faces (one shield for the whole ship in all directions), torps very fast and homing with high accuracy. 🤔 Now, if only someone could blend bridge commander and this....
I'm sorry I missed this a year ago. It just came up in my recommendations. It was nice seeing you enjoy this mod. I worked on it back what seems like forever ago.

This is a GOG type of game to sell with no DRM I wouldn't buy this on Steam due to it being tied to a client
I had this game on my Xbox 360 and my gawd I was bad at it, never finished the campaign. I had Star Trek Conquest on the Wii which I liked a lot, very simple game but would entertain me for hours, was actually good at that one.
It's great to see that the voice mod I created for this is still out there!
A registry number starting with NX means that the ship is an experimental one in US Navy designations.
This looks amazing! I love Star Trek and strangely didn’t played this one. I will have to try it right away. I love Armada 2 and Starfleet Academy.
Legacy, Elite Force, Bridge Commander, Armada ... damn those were the times
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who remembers this game. I only have the Xbox version, so I'm hyped to try out this version!
If playing the game is half the fun of watching you play, I'm in!!!
I'd like to find a version for the PC.
Thanks a lot for this, You're awesome!!!
Get to the cool Romulan shiiiips!!!
Romulan ships next video then ;)
Very cool! Been binging the original series along with DS9, Next Generation, Voyager and Enterprise and I love combat simulator stuff.
Brilliant game that is massively underrated, I literally bought it as soon as it was released.
3:20 What the hell? :D That Freedom class ship looks like something made in Spore creator! :D
I played this when it was first out was so impressed with it as a true trek fan
I loved this game so so much ans never understand why it didn't do better
I had this on PC when it was originally came out, it looked amazing graphically, but remember the controls weren't the best. Massive trekkie fan so might download for free 😊
Thanks for this dude, live long and prosper 😂 ✌️
I loved the Trek games of this era. Legacy is the whole reason why I got a 360 in the first place which got me into Fallout New Vegas and I got more and more addicted to the Bethesda Kool-Aid.
Tactical Assault on the DS was stupidly addicting, Encounters was basically the game Asteroids with a Star Trek paint job but it was still pretty fun.
Elite Force however remains my favorite Trek game because it was my first and I grew up on Voyager.
I was number 1 in the world on Legacy for Xbox 360 multi-player. I held it for long time.
Have you played the new Star Trek Armada 3 release?
I think I dabbled with this game and mod on PC, but it was a while ago. If I recall the original game wasn't very good and the mods are what make it worth while. The Wrath of Khan battle sent chills down my spine with that music playing!!! Bridge Commander has great mods too, but was probably the better game to star with. I played Klingon Academy when it was a new game and it had great space combat and visuals for it's time.
My comment got a Heart react from Roxy!!! Hurray! That means I'm awesome!
*checks comments*
Oh, everyone got a Heart react from Roxy... Hurray! That means we're ALL awesome!!!
You are all awesome!
Also, ya know ya can ACTUALLY Picard Maneuver in this game, right ? Well, a way more devastating version. Jean LUC is a much better person than I.
Itd be nice to see a remaster for the new generation of consoles. I still have my 360 copy that i always thought was fun and had cool models. I also remember during the intro sequence of legacy showing the enterprise and reliant battle that isnt playable in game, well on the 360 vrsion atleast i have no idea if the scenarios were on pc.
god i miss playing this game, so many fond memories
Loved the 360 version of this, never got it on PC though. I enjoy STO, but stuff has gotten so expensive, it really does ruin the game by blocking off so much content.
Remember playing this back when it came out originally, thought it was ok. Also, NX is used for experimental ships.
This was an excellent game for stand alone Star Trek. I had originally put a Let's Play of horrid quality back in the day. I am glad to see this video.
Legacy was my favorite Star Trek game ever.
God I remember this game, I still have the physical pc cd and case to this day
Cool, Roxy playing Trek.
Still have to disagree with this being the best trek game. The best trek game ever is the 1988 MS DOS version of the originally text based Star Trek from 1971 called EGA Trek. They took the originally tested based game and added visuals to turn it into more of a Space based RTS.
You've played EGA Trek, too?! You must be an old-ass man, like muhself
This was the game of my childhood but I can't play it anymore because I used too much and it broke, needs a remastered from the ground up.
Where is the link
And the repairs were too quick.
Never seen this. I've played the crap out of ST games like Elite Force, Armada, Away Team, Command, Online... just how have I never heard of this?
