- Follows 1988 "Tunnel Motor" video. Amtrak 16th St station (Oakland, CA) with SP Maintenance of Way cars, then the arriving westbound California Zephyr (including the last Pullman car made, the "George M. Pullman." Next, a view of the nearby coachyard on a different date in 1988 with private cars including the famed Virginia City.
The good ol' days before the collapse of the Cypress Structure (880) due to the 1989 earthquake. I always see the old 16th street station when i'm driving on the "new" 880, since it replaced the old cypress freeway that used to be on mandela parkway, and it saddens me to see the city let it just rot away since it's really the only SP icon that remains in the area.
there's a super liner coach still in phase2 paint
John's Junction Railroad Videos (jreichel1) What's with the private cars in Oakland at that time? Were they suppose to be going east on the Zephyr or North on the Coast Starlight?
There's a really old SP station near 7th & Broadway but it's fairly unrecognizeable now.
