  • Ancestors is an exhibition of ancient Native American statues on view at the Tennessee State Museum. These statues are Pre-Columbian stone statuary that were found between the Tennessee and Cumberland rivers. The statues were often found in pairs, but separated after discovery. This exhibit reunites some of the pairs, many of which have never been shown before.

I didn’t know that North American/US First Nation people made such elaborate carvings. I knew the Inuit did.

We certainly did, especially in the Southeast. We also had large-scale mound towns and cities.
