She went through such a scandal with her illegal, under age marriage Robert Kelly where she was almost blacklisted from the radio. But she reinvented herself, got together with Timbaland and Missy Elliott and created a new, innovative sound that was the blueprint for a lot of today's hip hop and r&b. It's so sad that she's no longer with us but I do hope one day we get a real, proper biopic of her life.
You gotta keep in mind that this was aired on Snick in the 1990s. Which it's entire line up was aimed at Teenagers, and by the time the show got to the live musical performance it was either close to or a little after 9 or 10pm.
DJZukin Facts. The N formerly before Teennick used to air the reruns of the original All That with music guests uncut after school. It should have been on DVD by now. Just the 90's episodes not the 2002 reboot IMO.

She lowered her larynx and pushed her diaphragm in her live performances, i guess that was the choice to compensate her lack of breath while moving around and dancing.
@@manglik3815 Pretty much. A lot of people don't realize singers need to adjust live. There are no retakes and they don't sit in one place. They lower the keys, change notes, etc., to compensate for everything else they were doing. If you are dancing, you're not going to be able to provide breathy vocals song after song. (This is also where lip-sync comes in to help save the performers vocals with a rigorous tour schedule.)

It was a pinch of the backing track. Aaliyah sang over it...but it mistakenly cranked up in volume and dropped back down. Only the band is supposed to hear it but occasionally it slips through.
