    What's the highest you would go on the average annual salary of Gary Trent Jr's next contract?

      there is the reality if gary has to take less, he wont be staying in toronto, but go to a playoff team. my guess is gary gets 16-23 million from someone. if raptors want gary not being a free agent destination, they will have to overpay to keep him. gary isnt doing toronto any favors.

    I like Gary Trent Jr, he's one of my favorite player with the Raptors, but if we have to trade him, why not been creative. Let's try a Gary Trent Jr Bruce Brown & Jordan Nwora trade to get something interesting like more young talent, draft pick, roster spot, etc. Or something similar. At least, we can keep him and give him another contract. He offers a good service according to me.

    Gary’s issues are he is not good enough to be starter on good teams and we want to be a good team during his next contract. When he comes off bench he does not bring as much production. He wants to be paid close to RJ $ but he is not as valuable.
    If he played 26 mins a night full attack mode off bench and helped win those mins vs being a scoring 4-5 starting option I would pay him more. However, most of the time in that 6th man role he has not loved and owned it. I think we should focus on other needs of the team and let GD or OA see what they can do with Gary’s mins.

      DeAnthony Melton, I’d even splurge and go after Malik Monk which is preferable than giving Gary his rate. They really wanted Talen-Horton Tucker for years.

  • @realshehrkhan
    @realshehrkhan 4 месяца назад

    to me, it all depends on the market. if a team with cap space is willing throw money at him at 21-22M+ like HOU and IND did lat year then have to let him go. Maybe get a couple of expiring contracts on prospects for a sig-and-trade but that is about it. We don't need another Bruce Brown typr contract on the books.
    GTJ may be a bit underpaid at the mid-level exception deal. A faid contract would be somewhere in the middle of mid-leve/BB moeny. I'm thinling 15-17M tops. they can rive him 2+1 so he can rehad his value to get another bad at 28-28 yo. I like GTJ but he is has not developed into what we expected him to be.

  • @bigboi3512
    @bigboi3512 4 месяца назад

    He's worth the same contract he had before but he might get offered $20M somewhere else. Should we keep him? I don't know. But I'm sure if he goes somewhere else he'll end contributing to a playoff team.

    There’s always a place on an NBA roster for a guy who shoots like Trent. Agree that he hasn’t really developed his game, but I’d like to see him stay on the Raptors. His ideal role seems to be as a 6th guy / shooter off the bench, if he can settle into that.

      @@giovanni-ed7zq I don’t necessarily disagree…but I wonder who they’ll end up spending money on instead who will be a better “deal”. Trent could be dynamite on a good team with ball movement - but agree the Raptors probably won’t be one of those in the near future. He hits big shots and plays with confidence. On THIS version of the team he is kinda forced to be something he’s not.

    Gary is not worth the contract he’s getting now. The last contract he was a sure fire starter on Nick Nurse’s squad and had built in upside due to his youth. After 4 years, we know who he is now- he’s a good three point shooter but not good anything else.
    The only reason he’d stay is because the Gradey isn’t ready to start and Ochai didn’t step up.
    If he stays, he’d have to take a pay cut and team friendly deal 2 years/$26 mil knowing that he’s a stop gap solution. He’s not as good as Grayson Allen or Donte DiVincenzo.
