Did it! Only hiccup was my Sam Gal 9+ running Android 9 didn't format in way my car would read. Had to use a third-party app to convert the 128 gb card to FAT-32 instead of exFAT. Great video thanks!

If you didn’t know the TeslaCam/Sentry Reviewer APP for the iPhone has been approved by Apple and it is in the app store already. I installed it on my iPhone XS Max 2 days ago on Sunday June 2.
Excellent. It wasn't available at the time we shot and edited this video but we knew they were coming! Apple is definitely a large audience to cater to for Tesla owners.
Super, Matthew! Thank you for this! I have burned out two straight SanDisk thumb drives and now I know why. :-) Question, though: when you plug in the Visaki 4-in-1, does it block the other USB? I will still want to be able to charge a phone every now and then. Again, thank you so much!
The USB option was great for computer use, but need the extra connectors or an adapter for mobile. Now that we have a good app for Android I made the switch. I do keep the other one in the car as a backup for when the main one fills up with Sentry videos.
@@EveryAmp Thank you again, Matthew. You are so helpful! You deserve more subscribers than what you have. I posted a link to your video on the Tesla Owners Online Club: teslaownersonline.com
If you want a flash drive that hold your MP3 library, DashCam and Sentry videos all on 1 flash drive, you can buy one on ebay (search for "Tesla Enabled USB Drive") .
Partitioning the drives is fine, I can do that myself, but I've recently noticed that the new feature to format the drive in the car won't work with those. You have to only install one USB device for it to recognize which device to format and a partitioned drive will always appear as two devices.
Thanks for this great info... but I am tech challenged. I bought the micro SDXC and the card reader but I couldn't format it in my phone (note 8), is there anyway you could help me with the process? I watched your video several times but it wasn't clear for me...
I'm a bit confused re storage i.e. if its on an hourly loop, isn't it just constantly overwriting the previous hour and if that is correct, then how does the drive get "filled" (assuming you're not downloading and saving clips)? Please explain
You're correct about how the dashcam feature works, but there are also manually-saved clips and Sentry-mode clips which are not on a loop. Though Tesla did update the software recently to make Sentry clips overwrite once the drive is full, so unless you fill it up with saved clips, it's not really an issue anymore thankfully.
Mm. Thanks. I have a USB right now, pending delivery of SD card and reader (via your links). I'm trying to park as far from other cars as possible to minimize the "events" that accumulate on the media. Now, where can I get some fake broken glass to put in the space next to mine to keep others from parking?
Yes and no. That's what I'm using and it certainly can work. It's easy from Android or Mac. You can do it on Windows, but you need a third-party formatting tool since the one that comes with Windows stupidly only works with 32GB or less. No on iPhones since they're unable to format external storage at all.
I like to keep the primary card installed until it fills up with sentry videos then switch to the backup. That let's me review and clean up the primary card when it's convenient.
I have a 32gb scan disk memory card. I can view on my computer OK. I down loaded the SentryView on my IPhone_X. The app wants me to put in the WiFi Network info from that USB drive. I see you are not using that USB and you were able to plug your card into your phone. I was using a memory card adaptor with a Lighting Jack but the phone will not recognize this. Do you know how to make this work with an IPhone_X, with a Lightning Jack that is an adaptor for the memory card for this app (SentryView). Thanks

I just bought IXpand it worked perfectly for a week I could watch files on iPhone. But suddenly the app said u need to buy iXpand reel to keep watching, and I did that and the video can’t be played anymore. The error keeps showing and can’t play. I’m stuck now. I can’t play the files on pc either it says mp4 I have that already installed on pc.... uggggh million problems just to see some footage pice of shit app
Totally agree, there needs to be internal storage for at least the last clip or once the alarm is sounded. Luckily so far more vandals are smart enough for this but word will get out. There are mods to hide your storage device so it's not so easy if you're really worried about it.

Bummer that it only works with the SanDisk connect stick though.
LivingTesla I don’t have one of those. I have the setup that you recommend because it’s designed for dash cams and other high use applications.
Almost 2 years later, which card would you recommend nowadays?

Vikasi.
I watched it already three videos no one describes how to watch those videos from your Sandisck
Thank you for the video. So back up is optional ?
I have two so that I can pull one out for review and leave another in it's place while I review at my convenience later in the day or week.

But what if tesla added the back camera with sentry mode can this app be updated?
Yes the app developer has the ability to update their app

What about multi-partitions for audio playback?
Not a way to do that from mobile currently, but I prefer to keep that in separate devices anyway.

How do I delete all the sentry mode recorded clips all at once?
There's a format drive button under security settings
@@EveryAmp this is to just delete all the videos recorded right and not reformat the whole drive
It will reformat the whole drive. There is no button to just delete videos.
What app are you using to format on android??
No app. It's just built into stock Android on the Pixel

Can you use Sentry to record an event where you are pulled over by Police??
Sure, just tap the recording icon and it saves the last 10 minutes
Ummm way to complicated for regular joes. Lost me at 4:33. Need a basic plug-n-play. Thanks tho!
Until Tesla adds the a playback interface to the car, this is what we have. I agree it's more complicated than it should be.
Good video. Also, you can use a Pi to archive videos automatically. See github.com/cimryan/teslausb
Pls make an update lol
But if the stick disappears (thieves)... You're doomed.
Not sure what that has to do with viewing videos on mobile, but i1Tesla did a nice video about hiding an SSD in the center console.
