    I’m excited to have received my speakers from Arendal Sound, purchased to upgrade the 7 bed layer speakers of my 7.1.4 setup.
    In this video, I’ll be unboxing the 1723 Monitor S, Surround S, and the 1961 Bookshelf speakers, giving my initial thoughts as I go.
    Spoiler alert 🚨 - this video is FULL of superlatives, including “nice”, “classy”, “impressive”, “superb” and many more…

      @@cableguydan i actually chatted with arendal about this. They said with having a dedicated subwoofer anyways the difference between 1723 and 1723 s is almost Non existent for home theatre use. Makes sense as all the lower Bass coming from bigger drivers are forwarded to the sub anyways. Wanted to get the 1723 too but probably just gonna get the s Version.

      @@cableguydan hi Dan. Just wanted an update as to whether or not you still think the Emotiva Bass x Amp makes a difference for you. Also, how far are your speakers from the back wall and from the side walls? If you could measure in inches as I’m from the US lol. Thanks. I have the full Arendal 1723s 5speakers set up and 4 ceiling firing SVS height speakers. I have a PB3000 as a sub and a Denon x4700 receiver. Thanks Dan

      Hi Raymond.
      Yes, still very pleased with the BasX A3.
      My surround back speakers are right in the rear corners. Well, one is - the other is partly over the doorway. So, just an inch or two off of the walls.
      This video shows the surround rear speakers a little clearer to help with how they are positioned.

    The main issue I have with Arendal surround speakers is that they don't have a toggle to switch the two side firing drivers between dipole and bipole operational settings. Dolby and DTS do not recommend dipole speakers AT ALL for any speaker in an Atmos or X setup because the diffusion characteristics are too severe. However, if you are fairly close to your bed layer surrounds, they do allow for bipole designs. Arendal missed a step here.

    • @cableguydan
      @cableguydan  2 года назад

      Hi Dan,
      I see what you mean. For ease of use (whilst experimenting with what sounds best in a person’s room), a switch would be more convenient that taking them off the wall and removing the terminal jumpers.
      I tried Triaxial and direct with mine and have ended up back with Triaxial (dipole). As I am really, really close to them, this seems to work well for my room. I’d love to try them in a larger room, tbh.
      From what I’ve heard before, most Arendal users that I’ve spoke to also run them as Triaxial speakers, and nearly all are running Atmos. ☺️

      Regarding 1723 vs 1723 S, it will be difficult for me to say. Although, if I had the space in my current room, I would have just purchased the larger 1723 models to get the 8” drivers.

    • @Nickceid
      @Nickceid 2 года назад +1

      @@cableguydan What I mean is that you didn't get the 8'' drivers because the full fat speakers are hiding your screen and not because the 8'' drivers are too big for the room. Are they?

    • @cableguydan
      @cableguydan  2 года назад

      @@Nickceid Hi Nikos. You are correct - I only purchased the smaller models because the bigger models would block my screen.
      Personally, I would have been happy to have the 8" driver models in my room, if the speakers actually fitted. I don't believe that the drivers are too big, just the cabinets.
      To me, the bigger drivers would allow the speakers to breathe more and offer more dynamics within the room. :-)

    How were you able to order a single monitor speaker for your center? In the US we can only purchase the monitors in pairs. I understand the center is the same speaker with the with some cosmetics changes for horizontal orientation.

    • @cableguydan
      @cableguydan  Год назад +1

      Hi Ron,
      It was a while ago now, but, if I remember correctly, I contacted Arendal about this and they confirmed that adding a pair of 1723 Monitor S equates to 2pcs in your basket/cart. I changed this to 3pcs and it worked fine.
      If I’m doubt, just pop them an email. Their customer support team are insanely good and seem to reply at all hours of the day.
      The Centre has a different grille, I believe, which is why I went for 3x monitors. :-)
