I liked the movie for what it was, but agree that it really leaned on the fan servicey callbacks to the original. Like you said, they didn't really push anything forward. Good atmosphere for a bit of it, leaned into the eerie horror early on. Nice to see the Wayland Yutani corporate hellscape for a brief bit. Not great, not bad, but probably not gonna be very memorable in the long run, and probably wasn't meant to be unfortunately. *wheels out milking machine
You know what you just reminded me of? Our, in general, review of Black Adam. This movie was better, but nothing made it stand out. Kinda mid *but still better the Black Adam
Absolutely, you actually and Basically the exact same take we had, good moments, cool stuff in the beginning and the Wayland Yutani stuff but mostly fan service. Basically forgettable like you said
This movie isn't in a space to fail. If it does, it'll be going in the path of Terminator. As far as what they can do further with Alien stuff, the comics have so much more to explore. With the movie doing well, it gives hope that we can still get Alien Awakening, the follow up to Covenant.
I think it is revitalizing the franchise, most reviews I've seen are very positive & it's looking like it'll hit the $300 million mark. I saw it last night & was really impressed how it tied previous films together. So I really disagree with a lot being said here. Plus, a lot of practical effects which is a real blessing in this modern day of CGI & uncanny valleys.
yes. and the halloween franchise, the rambo franchise, the exorcist franchise, the nightmare on elm street franchise...
You’re not wrong!

This movie was good and help get the franchise back on track. Now to make another one and take more chances.
It had some good moments but it didn’t do anything new for the franchise, everything in this movie has been done before

Such a bummer. I was really hoping this could rejuvenate the franchise. So far, only two good movies, a couple okay movies and a bunch of duds
Yeah man, it had a few cool moments but yeah ultimately all fan service that kept the movie from being anything more than forgettable
