This week, TheCarGuys take their 2003 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale on a 2,000 mile blast to the Scottish highlands and back for a comprehensive full-on, ear-blasting, joint-shattering review of one of the greatest supercars of all time.

I was lucky enough to be able to film one, see one at a car show, and after seeing it in this video I dream of one now 😍😍
I see for two days the video of seen through glass, I found it a pity that this beautiful 360 stradale in such a special color hardly came for the camera ... It definitely is my favourite Ferrari. But it is also the one car in automotive history that is most desperately missing a manual gearbox (together maybe with the E46 M3 CSL)

In a world where cars now have spaceship performance that's unusable on British roads, the 360 and 430 really were the last of the usable ferrari supercars. The 360 CS is also the most beautiful of all of them, current models included. Although I dream of owning a 458, they just all look a tad transformer'ish now. In any event, your videos are excellent and your channel is brilliant. Enjoy your wonderful collection in good health.

I think put a Tremec 6 speed manual box and a Vintage Air A/C into this car and you have the perfect Ferrari :)

Michael Schumacher's favorite Ferrari of all times. That says a lot. The manual conversion was done by some US fanatic and maybe Schumacher got one also? I do not know. Correct me if you know. :-)

Being a simple pleb I’m not really a supercar person .. so stick to affordable hatches and vans with an occasional oddity like the Honda SMX (count the doors on each side)
But Oh my goodness that exhaust note is beautiful .. yours and Jason’s videos are making me want to at least go and have a taste of something ‘super’ at a track day.

Simply fantastic video! Thank you so much. I love seeing as much perspective of this car as possible prior to my future ownership. A CS will be my next auomotive purchase. Question: in spite of the slowness of the gearbox in comparison to the dual-clutch transmissions of today, do you feel the Stradale's 'box, even in non-Race mode, still shifts quicker than the average sporting driver could manage with a manual; or is it at par?
Glad you enjoyed it, Paul. I would say the paddle shift on a CS is on par with a human shifting manually. There's a noticeable delay compared to a 430, 458 and 488, but that's progress for you.

I watched the video on Sams channel with you and your cars and the Stradale is a wonderful car.
Not sure if you could use it as a daily with the gearbox problems and the fact that there are to many cars on the road to be able to stretch its legs

Hi Damian, if you had to choose between a challenge, LFA and a NSX Type R. Which one would you buy?
Wow - that’s a brilliant question.if it was a straight choice, it’d be the CS, but since I’ve got one, and experienced it - it would be the NSX Type R - because they are so rare

can actually be that the clutch is slipping during the changes, those cambiocorsa units are know to eat the clutch (this is why you can find Maserati of the same time period at 20K used with the same configuration) and changing it is pretty expensive, with the gearbox elements in good condition and a new clutch changing gears should be metter of milliseconds, slower than a double clutch off course but pretty funny with a good kick in the nuts between the gears

TheCarGuys.TV I agree with the obvious two. However, I think the drama, vision and heritage of the Ferrari is perhaps clouding your “true” judgement of sound. If the 250LM drove past me without me seeing it, i’m not sure I’d think it’s the second best sounding car on earth. I do respect both your options though and love the channel. Keep up the good work guys!

They cost so much that your better off owning at 2011 458 and still have money left over to order a pizza.
I have a 2003 Morena with the CS TCU and track the car. My gear changes are quite crisp with no slippage. There may be clutch adjustment issue here.

I’d love a standard 360 Modena. They seem to be great value at the minute...then on the flip side I’d really like a 2011-12 Mulsanne...one day.

You know FERRARI should do with this car what Aston did with the vanquish. You give Ferrari 45K or so and they then upgrade the paddles to something up to date or change it to a manual.

Classic Ferrari V8 scream!
Love the sound and the whole idea of a pure, stripped out Ferrari but just can't get on with the styling. Never liked the 360 Modena though, even when it was new. The first 'Montezemelo' V8 Ferrari and he wanted to distance his cars from the beautiful but fragile Ferraris that came before. I think he went too far! F355 to 360 was a major step back for me. 430 slightly better. 458 getting there but it took until the Speciale before I ached with desire for a V8 Ferrari again.
I thought the same about the 360, but the CS has a completely different look - it’s like it’s constantly tensed to leap forward. Strangely I look more favourably on the 360 design than the 430

Doesn’t the portofino crush this 360 Cs? In every way? Performance, power, speed, control. Maybe sound even? Maybe not sound. But how does it compare in driving between the two?
Performance (yes), power (yes), comfort (yes), response (no), balance (no), looks (no), sound (no!), emotion (no), desirability (no). The P is a comfy cruiser, the CS is a road racer & one of the all-time greats.
i've heard the 360's steering wheel feeling was not anything special. Does the stradale make the difference?

@@TheCarGuysTV Lol, very fair! I love the look, sound and overall rawness of the CS, but I just can’t get past the transmission. It was archaic for me.
The Scud looks just as beautiful (subjective I know), sounds proper with an S line X pipe added (old F1 scream) and is almost as raw/analog while being fast even by today’s standards.
Found the modern equivalents to be even faster and more capable, but numb and soft.
So I voted with my checkbook and picked up a scud which to me is the best balance of old and new. If the CS were available in a manual, I would change my position to CS > Scud.
