  • Inspired by the 360 Modena Challenge racing car series, the 360 Challenge Stradale is the track focused version of the 360 Modena
The 360CS 360 is a stripped out, light weight, raw, pure version of the Ferrari 360 - The focus in development of the car was primarily on improving its track performance credentials by concentrating on handling, braking and weight reduction characteristics, which are essential in pure racing cars. Ferrari engineers designed the car from the outset with a goal of 20% track day use in mind and 80% road use. With only a small 25hp improvement in engine power from the Modena but a big weight saving the Challenge Stradale accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 4.1 seconds. The Challenge Stradale to claim a 3.5 second improvement per lap of the Fiorano Circuit compared to the Modena.

I remember when a friend of mine bought Challenge Stradale when they were new. He'd previously had a regular 360 Modena. After he got it, I recall his view was that the Stradale was just too fast and too crazy to take it to its limits on the road. Amazing to think that supercars have got so much faster and crazier since then!

The biggest difference in power with these to a normal 360 is that both pistons and crankshaft are blueprinted, meaning, pistons are matched to a very specific clearance, to all 8 and crankshaft is ligthened and has imperfections removed. This might not sound much but on a 8 cylinder car it makes all the difference and cs, unlike most Ferraris, ALL make as much or more power than advertised.

I have a 2005 360 spider and absolutely love it. it may not be as race car as this but still raw compared to modern cars. Ferrari updated the gear shifting in the latter years of production but it's still a gearbox you have to learn to drive and live with but once mastered its great, even blips throttle to rev match when high in the revs on downshifts.

But it would be really cool go get driving footage of those, because good footage like you produce is rare for these cars.

One of the most track -oriented hard core supercars of its time. Would definitely kill to have one in my garage in a flash/. 360 on a diet.

I don’t think I could cope with having a 360 Modena knowing how much better the CS is in every way - even though the differences are subtle it’s amazing how much better it looks - check out The Car Guys RUclips channel for the video on their silver 360 CS - that colour is absolutely stunning , works magic with the lines - stunning.

This era of Ferrari is just about the last era of true Ferraris. Lightweight (even the standard 360 feels light and chuckable), go kart-y, loud, raw and easily fast enough for public road usage. When people are disappointed with stuff like the Pista.. What they are truly wanting is a Ferrari from this era.
