    Probably the reason you can't find a video comparing these 2 devices is because its like comparing an oven to a wheelbarrow. The RC600 is a 6 channel looper, that is its main function, with an included drum machine . The beat buddy is only a drum machine pedal. The RC600 isn't amazing at rythem. But the beat buddy is a non existent looper. I don't think anyone in they right mind would purchase the RC600 purely as drum machine. I don't think the patterns on the RC600 are all that bad, but if you could use your own samples for Kick and Snare etc, it could be great. .............and yes if you look on you tube there is a video comparing a RC10R (same drum engine as the RC600) to a beat buddy here ruclips.net/video/uAVQxvfGYMA/видео.html

      I think it is a relevant comparison. I have BeatBuddy and a Boomerang 3. So it interests me if the RC-600 is as good at beats as a BeatBuddy with respect to drum beats. I think the BeatBuddy is amazing but I'd be curious to try an RC-600.

      No not at all , the best buddy was not shown off , drum fills and transitions is what sets the BB aside by a huge margin

    Wow this is great -- I got about half right and I have a BB midi synced to my RC-600. It totally put me in my place. I will probably keep the BB on the board for a few reasons: many more options for beats, easy to change parts and do fills (without using RC switches), can switch to half/double time or pause easily, can reach down and switch kits or use volume etc, separate outputs to RC. However the RC on its own for drums is more integral. One thing I like doing is mixing the two - run a lower level on RC, maybe a ride cymbal which seems to have more top end that the BB.

    • @glennjeffries007
      @glennjeffries007 2 года назад +4

      but wait there's more.... Syncing up the RC to BB - use the internal clock from RC midi settings, they will stay locked together. You will get intros/outros from the BB along with RC. Also you can assign CC numbers on an RC switch to stop/pause/up or down volume/fills/accents etc etc. Don't throw your BB in the bin just yet.

      Hey Glenn thanks for adding that info. When I did the comparison, I just got the RC 600 and didn't use my beatbuddy in probably 2 years so I was going into it not knowing which I would prefer. I said in the vid that I might sell the beatbuddy but even though I think there is drum kits on the RC that are definitely usable that I like, I'm definitely not selling the beatbuddy. We will be using the RC for guitar and bass in, along with 2 vocal mics that will allow us to play to backing tracks I make and also have on the RC so for us , the beatbuddy will be on hand for a backup or for requests. Plus with plans of future recording, the beatbuddy at times, can fool a lot of people into thinking a real drummer was used. However, it's awesome jamming to the RC. After doing this vid and not watching it for a while, I was fooled more as well. :) So ya, I'm digging both and keeping both :)

    I have the RC-600. I know some folks prefer the Beatbuddy and that is really cool. I know the Beatbuddy is less expensive, but c'mon.....the drum kits, the MASSIVE effects (on both the 4 on input sound, 4 on the recorded track........and each for 6 TRACKS) the 6 independent loopers, the MIDI connectivity, the assign controls and customization and more and more-seriously like too many features to really write about) the RC-600 is hard to beat (no pun intended). All I am saying is like the beatbuddy, but the RC-600 sets a new standard for what a looper/drum machine could be.

    • @linzkirk
      @linzkirk Год назад

      I have just got an RC600, I've used a rc500 for a while and I use Ableton with Push 2. So how I intend to use the RC600 is to make rhythms in Ableton and import them on the the RC600 on tracks 4-6 to have variation beats. then it is unlimited on what drum sound you create.

  • @MarkDHastingsMusic

    I really like the sounds of the Beat Buddy over the RC 600. I also like how the Beat Buddy is designed to handle the performing use cases.
    As for the price comparison... as of 11/2/22 the Beat Buddy can be had new for $379, then you'll probably want the $50 Foot Switch, a $20 MIDI breakout cable, another MIDI cable to run from the breakout to your MIDI device. If you don't already have them, you may need a short TRS cable to connect the Foot Switch to the Beat Buddy, plus a 9V Power supply. It is also a really good idea to get a Class 10 SD card ($10) if you plan to work with the Beat Buddy Manager software and transfer files very often. When you add all that up, and include any sales tax and shipping it is a least $450 - $500. Sooo,... your price comparison is actually a lot closer.
    If I was looking for a drum machine AND a looper, I think the RC 600 would win hands down. As a solo performer who has other means of looping, and needs the simplest, most effective means of adding drums to my performance, there is an argument to be made in favor of the Beat Buddy. This argument only gets stronger when I consider that the Beat Buddy can be integrated with OnSong on an iPad so that, among other capabilities, each song selection in OnSong can send MIDI program and CC messages to the Beat Buddy to change the selected drum kit, tempo and patterns for that song. Plus there is a very active Forum for the Beat Buddy that shares drum patterns for many many songs. There is more to the Beat Buddy than you can see when you open the box.
    Given all that, in many ways this is not all an Apples to Apples comparison. Great video nonetheless! Kudos on a job well done!

    The BeatBuddy sounds better but I think the RC-600 sound good enough. I have a BeatBuddy connected to my Boomerang 3 and I love the set up, but I must admit an all in one solution like the RC-600 is appealing. But I love the BeatBuddy library, I love the way it sounds, and I love how easy the Boomerang 3 is to use.

    I got 12 out of 21 right. I have an RC-600. I still think for pure drum sounds beatbuddy is the best. Their drum sounds are fantastic. I got the RC-600 for all of the other functionalities it has. I may think about getting beatbuddy at some point. Let me know if you’re selling and how much.

    • @TShawnHardy
      @TShawnHardy 2 года назад

      Hey Henry Mathews thanks for the reply. At this point I've decided to keep the beatbuddy due to future studio recordings and the possibility of sounding pretty close to having a real drummer but who knows what the future may bring. I have some free drum plugins like Steven Slate Drums that sound pretty darn good in a mix after being compressed. If I find that SSD does a better job than the beatbuddy, I still might sell it but the Beatbuddy is also pretty good to use for just hooking up to the PA and jamming out a quick request. :)

    Hey everyone, Just thought I would drop by with a bit of an update. As much as I liked the RC 600 and it's all in one unit capabilities, the guitar built in pre amps just weren't doing it for me. I'm a guitar player first and foremost so at the end of the day I had to sell the RC 600 to help fund a Line 6 HX stomp XL. However, even though we do our shows from a PC that mimics having a sound and light guy, there are still times where we play places with their own house systems so a small pedal that plays backing tracks works better for us. I still love the beat buddy and still think it's sound is more realistic than what Boss has to offer for drums but at the end of the day, we are just not using the beat buddy. I'm making all the backing tracks that consist of Drums, keys and such without the BB. So as much as it's going to break my heart, I'm selling the Beat buddy to fund something that can hold our backing tracks just like the 600 did. Something as a backup in case the PC decides to conk out or for playing on other house systems. Plus if we get a request every once in a while, there are kits on the RC 600 that would be good enough to get us by with a little EQ and compression magic on the board lol So it came down to either the Nux JTC for price or the Boss RC 10R. I've decided on the RC 10r cause it has what I miss about the RC 600 and with the both having the same amount of drum kits, something tells me the quality might be the same which is passable in a pinch. If we can get some more time to do another vid, That might be one to do :)

      But why not use both , I have a beat buddy and pigtronix infinity, midi is key , your demo does not show the best buddy comparison at all , there is no comparison if you use all the fills and transitions on the BB , I assume the RC600 has no fills and transitions , it just sounds like a repetitive drum machine if you do not use them , if you use them well it sounds like a drummer in your band.
      I sold my RC 300 because stupid Boss only allowed other devices to be a slave , utterly killing the point for me to connect the BB as the master midi to control stop start etc...
      From what I have seen the RC 600 has master or slave function for connecting devices for time signatures , if this is true then it makes the RC 600 awesome and I will get one.
      I have a Godin xtsa guitar , and GR55 synth and GT100 , a pitch folk , so the range of instruments is awesome for looping , I have GR55 bases and GT 100 pitch shifting for a whole range of base tones or fat guitar.
      I will continue to research RC600 midi use and what can be done

    BB is expensive, True. Plus the stock beats are not so useful or has limited use. You'll need to buy the library pack to have those decent drumbeats, which cost almost like the BB pedal itself.

    You are really comparing apples and oranges. Beat buddy is NOT a looper. Yea they both have drum machines- but the RC-600 is much more encompassing on features.
    Guess if you don’t like the drum loops in the RC-600_ you get both and spend close to $1000

      @TShawnHardy Год назад +1

      I agree. Even though the RC 600 surprised me with a few good sounding beats, but for us in a two man band, The RC600 is more useful cause it's an all in one unit that has guitar effects, vocal effects and plays the backing tracks I make. This comes in handy when playing a gig where we have to plug into someone else's PA. I honestly don't use the RC600 for looping. The beat buddy leans more towards sounding like a real drummer. incidentally , right now I'm using the free version of the Steven Slate drums with compression added to make our backing tracks but I might replace those with the beat buddy if it sounds more realistic. I just haven't had the time to try replacing the drums on a song and running it through our PA yet . Maybe the next vid will be Steven Slate drums vs the Beat Buddy ;)

      The BB with it's fills and transitions as master with the RC600 would be awesome I will get one

    Singulars beat buddy can be compared do a digitech trio + or Boss RC 10R both these are way better than the singular beat buddy 😀. RC 600 is the best looper ever made for the next few years . Ease of use and durability is the BoSs Pedals . TC helicon made a few looper so did did digitech none of them ever came close enough . As for as drum machine capabilities the digitech trio plus has way better sound quality , variety than the beat buddy . The Boss RC 10 R also has way better tones and drum beats 250 beats I am not mistaken . Latin beat sounds like a regular beat 😀. Don’t think the beat buddy will win win anything ever 😀

      A Buddy and I did a whole lot with the Trio+..No MIDI Sync was it's downfall IMHO. Still have 3 full cards. Had the BB MIDI Sync'ed to a RC-300.Used that for rythem and fills and had 2 different Rythems per patch on the RC-300 using a footswitch.Have the RC-600 now.Using a M-Audio keyboard 5 pin midi'd to the RC-600.Using the individual drum sounds in the RC-600 from the pads on the keyboard.Play a guitar rythem 1st on track 1.Add individual Drums from the RC-600 on track 2 .Adjusting all Volumes on the RC with the Pots on the keyboard..Have to get the BB in the mix soon.Also have the Midi Maestro.Costs as much as the BB,but you can control everything And 5 individual drums of your choice on the BB with your feet using the MM. The RC-600 is Deep. Agree it's the Best Looper ever made!! Still just scratched the surface of what I can do with it.RUclips video's have pointed me in some Positive directions for using it.
